Chapter 81
Stronger
Charlie POV:
Grayson got the information out of their Omega but it wasnât what heâd wanted. Heâd taken a silver knife
and carved it into the omegaâs chest.
Traitor
He sent the omega back and thatâs when we saw real fear. The omega begged us not to send him back
with that word
on him.
He knew what awaited him if he crossed onto his lands with the word traitor carved into him..
âPlease Iâll tell you anything,â heâd bargained.
He did. He gave up their location. Their real location. Grayson was happy but he still forced him back.
He wanted our enemy to know we were coming.
âLet him sit in wait for us, let the fear cloud his mind and his judgment. Thatâs what I want,â
âTheyâll just move camp Grayson,â Steven shook his head.
âNo they wonât,â Grayson grinned the devilâs grin. âThey leave now and they wonât get to my wife at all,
they know that. They retreat they lose their footing and their revenge goes up in smoke,â
He was ruthless now. He found out where they hiding, and he was ready to raze it to the ground.
His mercy for those we faced had vanished he was the shark who smelt blood in the water.
Now when he fought his punches werenât pulled, he put them in the ground for good. The prisoners we
took grew smaller and smaller. Half of them I knew wouldnât survive the trip back.
But I would not tell him to stop. My sister lay at home carrying the one thing sheâd dreamed of her
whole life. My sister has always put others before herself. I let the rabid beast off of his leash and
watched him run.
Sheâd never asked him if the things he did and when he came home Anna would still look at him the
same.
Sheâd not care about the blood on his hands he was her mate. She was his wife and she loved him
unconditionally.
The envy that I felt for them burned. My sister was in the boat worse than mine and sheâd found
someone.
Here I stand defending that love, for her and I know when I leave here I will have to go home and bind
to someone Iâll never have met.
I could tell my family I donât want to marry an alpha female but what good would that be? I have golden
blood, I have 6 generations of pure alpha blood in me and what happens when thatâs gone what
becomes of my people? What becomes of my family?
So Iâll stay here in the thick of this mess and live vicariously through my sister as she gets all she
deserves.
Then Iâll go home and marry a woman I do not love and continue my bloodline and know every day that
if I came home to her after my worst sheâd have to force herself to stay.
We moved down the countryside taking their camps down and working our way slowly toward them.
We now surveilled their camp with stealth teams and cameras. Grayson was right they stayed out.
Theyâd done their best in defenses. They were putting up a steel wall and adding electric lines. They
had put out some land mines. Very primitive.
They knew nothing could save them. Even if it killed him heâd make sure Anna was safe. Even if it killed
me id make sure heâd got home to her.
Mother will have a fit if that scars,â I turned and inspected my baby brotherâs face.
Someone had taken a silver knife to him but only got one haphazard slash along his jaw.
âIt will,â he didnât seem bothered by it. âBut girls like that sort of thing.â he smirked.
âIdiot,â I chuckled back.
âYouâve got a few deeper wounds. You want that little sheâwolf to come and look after you?â He
enquirer.
I whipped my head around. âWhat are you talking about?â
He let out the first real laugh Iâd heard in a while from him. âGoddess Charlie hide it a little better,â
I relaxed my shoulders. âDonât say a word Jamie I mean it,â
He shook his head. âLike Iâm stupid enough to say anything. Itâs fine Charlie I know whatâs expected of
you,â he gave me a pitying look.
I felt a great urge to break his nose. My wolf Aziel rose and I knew my eyes flashed.
My brother slammed one fist into the middle of my chest. âHey!â He growled. âIâm not goading you Iâm
agreeing, it
isnât fair,â
He knocked the sense back into me with one punch.
âYou think I donât know my own brother?â He scoffed before walking out of our tent.
I wiped the blood from the battle weâd left off of me and put on a new shirt.
I walked to the main tent Grayson waiting for me.
âGlad you could join us,â Grayson still bleeding from a wound on his arm.
âSorry I got cleaned up,â I shot back at him.
He was impatient I got it but this noânonsense, aggressive, bullâheaded behavior was hard to be
around.
âWell, itâs not the time. Tomorrow is the big day. Weâre about ten miles away from their camps almost all
their smaller holds are gone, or they are on the land of an Alpha whoâs willing to kick them out,â he
explained.
âWe take them down tomorrow and then we go home,â he finished again.
He set out to explain to us the plan for the next dayâs multiple points of attack. Different weapons they
would expect. Poisonâlaced arrowheads. Silver bullets. Silver nets.
âWe can expect theyâll have much of the same,â he sighed. âSo I want everyone well rested and
focused watched them tomorrow be ready,â
Tomorrow.
I turned and as I did the regular gut punch hit me. She wasnât my fated mate she wasnât an alpha and
still, she was the most beautiful thing Iâd ever seen.
Her name was Ella she had been one of the people to be kind to my sister when she h was also the
one whoâd been attacked by that sigma.
had become the new Luna. She
My blood boiled at the thought. She was not my mate, and I was a dope around her. I wanted to tell her
that she should go home and Iâd fight this battle for her, but I didnât know her.
Hadnât spoken a single word because every time I tried I just kept thinking that girl who looks like that
had nothing to
say to me.
Dainty and ethereal as she was even with all that I had inherited to my name I was not able to form a
f**king
sentence.
Any girl would be lucky to have me that were the general words Iâve been told because I had also had
blood pure alpha. blood and what the hell is that worth if all I can say to the girl is I have alpha blood?
âCharlie,â Grayson clapped me on the back.
Ella scattered off.
F*** you. I glared at him.
âI want you prepared tomorrow I donât want to go home to my wife with anyone maimed,â he looked
over his shoulder to the blonde walking away. âIf sheâs an issue tell me now,â he whispered.
I stopped in my tracks.
âWhat?â I couldnât believe both James and my brotherâinâlaw both knew I had feelings for this girl.
He sighed deeply. âCharles you cannot even blink when sheâs near you I think itâs obvious,â
âF***,â I covered my eyes in the deep deep shame of being a complete moron.
âItâs fine. Itâs fine Iâm sure she doesnât know,â he rolled his eyes..
âRight because I believe the man who couldnât even trust the goddess with romance,â I growled.
âI will hit you,â he furrowed his brows and clenched his jaw.
1 rubbed my face.
âStop it,â he placed a hand on my shoulder. âItâs no good worrying about it now you are going into battle
tomorrow and so is she. I need you to focus if sheâs an issue tell me now Iâll send her home to look
after Annette,â
âNo!â I sputtered. âNo. If Iâve learned anything from you itâs not to make decisions for a girl without her
opinion. She wants to fight, let her do what she wants,â
Seriously I will hit you,â he clenched his fist. âNow come on,â He walked me toward his personal tent.
He pulled out the sat phone. He must be calling her.
After a second her voice crackled across the waves. âGrayson?â Her voice came worried and rushed.
âNetta,â he breathed in relief.
âIs everything alright?â
âYes, weâre attacking the final camp tomorrow their camp, the one their alpha is at,â he told her.
Silence.
âYouâll come home to me right?â she asked him and knew my sister well enough to know that she was
trying to be brave.
âYes,â he was deadly serious in his tone.
âAre my brothers there?â She continued.
âYes yeah Charlieâs here,â he turned to me.
âCharlie!â She sounded relieved to know I was there and breathing.
âAnna,â I spoke up. âIâm alright donât worry stress isnât good for the baby,â
âF*** that. You come home too. You and Jamie I want To be safe,â she cut off a bit.
âWeâre all safe heâs right donât stress,â he pressed her.
âThe babe is fine the mothers wonât let me lift a finger,â she whined.
Grayson laughed. âIâm sure they wonât,â
âBut youâll be home, Soon,7â She faltered in her bravado.
âYes,â again he was resounding in his response.
âThen finish this,â she sniffled. She must be crying by now. âAnd then make good on what youâve told
me. I miss youâ¦all of you,â
âOf course, I miss you as well,â he gulped in the air.
âWeâll see you
âWeâll see you, Anna,â I called to her
âAnna?â James asked behind me.
âJames,â Anna whispered,
He wasnât allowed to speak to her, I moved him back.
âIs everything good with her,â he asked me.
âYeah, we let her know we will be home soon, I told him.
He picked up a lantern and chucked it hard against the polyester ripping a hole in Graysonâs tent.
âGo,â
âYeah,â he shook his head.
Weâll
Iâve soon. Iâll see my sister safe and happy. I wonât be able to form a sentence to Ella in any span of
time. Then
Iâll go and marry some girl I donât know.
As long as this will end. Tomorrow it is.
