The reason why Julliet choose to be in Silviaâs team instead of Rileyâs was because her chances to shine were greater, considering Silviaâs lack of character. Now that she witnessed it with her eyes, how could she compete with such an attention seeker?
Juliet didnât feel like being under Silviaâs command again, âYou can take back the second in command position.â
Liam perked his ears, âWhat? Did I hear right?â
Juliet squeezed his ears, âGo back to your babe and leave me alone.â
âOr what? Donât forget you still owe me a new strap for a watch,â Liam followed Julliet as he yelled at Silvia from afar, âIâll kill whatever bastard that wants to marry you! You are mine!â
â...â Juliet had never thought of winning the competition before. All she cared about was getting revenge for her parents and siblings. Her father was killed by a group of thugs. Her mother was beaten by the man those groups of thugs worked for. Her grandfather killed them in the belief it would toughen her up.
But he was wrong. Julietâs mind was filled with anger. She hated the world order so much that she wanted to destroy it. She wanted to kill everyone who hurt her family. She wanted to see them suffer.
In order to achieve her goal, she needed to be strong. She needed to win. So she trained harder than anyone else â she became the strongest in her clan. At first, she struggled to accept that this school had so many people more powerful than her.
When she realized she couldnât beat them, she gave up and began to hate herself. She despised her body. She loathed her parents. She blamed them for making her an Alpha. If she was born a Beta, she would have had a normal life.

â~Iâm back.â
Dai An sat cross-legged on a small mat woven with grass and flowers to keep her cool in a secluded part of Bing Shiâs mind, waiting for a connection patiently.
âDai Aaaaaan, welcome baaack. I missed you so much!â
â~I missed you too.â
The ache of loneliness gnawed at Dai Anâs stomach not because Bing Shi wasnât there, but because she couldnât share this beautiful view with anyone.
Bing Shi winced in bitterness from the wave of plague that came together with Dai Anâs appearance. Her head throbbed in rhythm with the eerie screams that rang out across the field like animals trapped inside their own skin. The cries were so loud they made it impossible for anyone else to sleep or even close their eyes without hearing them, âDonât you have at least one nice memory?â
â~These are some of my nicest ones.â Dai An replied glumly as she used her sleeve to wipe the rotten flesh and faeces off the flowers further away from her.
The world Bing Shi saw had been completely destroyed-the ground was covered by bodies rotting beneath black ash. The air was filled with the stench of putrefaction, and then... She found herself trapped between an army led by men who thought nothing about slaughtering all living creatures except each other, âHow is this nice?â
â~I survived with my body intact; isnât it nice enough?â
âItâs not.â Bing Shi kicked the trash together with the flowers far away from her, âLet me help you clean your place a bit.â
Kick. Kick. Kick. Bing Shi swept away the place around her before turning to another flower patch close to Dai An where she found fresh blooms growing happily without care or concern. It was hard for her to believe they were still alive when everything around them seemed dead.
â~You are not cleaning it up but pilling it up.â
âWe can cover the piled-up mountain with the dug-up dirt later.â
â~This is not how it works. Do you want to deal with everything at once or one at a time?â
âOh duck.â Bing Shi began to wipe two flowers at a time with her sleeves, âMine doesnât come off.â She glanced at Dai Anâs progress, âWoah, you are amazing. How are you doing it?â
Dai An could feel Bing Shiâs presence inside their shared consciousness like the sound or taste of water bubbling up through stone, â~Iâm purifying the soil. The wiping is just a gimmick.â
â...â Bing Shi stared at Dai An for several seconds before they both burst into laughter, âI canât believe you turned me into a fool!â
Bing Shi didnât stay in Dai Anâs âhomeâ for long. She was interrupted by a vision of her husband, walking toward her with his arms open wide. He looked like he wanted to embrace her but something held him back. His face contorted in anguish as he struggled to contain the feelings inside himself, âDai An, I have to go now! Thanks and bye!â
â~You are welcome. Bye Bye.â
Bing Shi felt her mind was being torn into two parts as she tumbled onto the ground and twitched violently until she stopped moving.
She opened her eyes to find herself laying next to the bed of her bedroom, staring at the man above her while trying to hold back tears. The sun was setting behind the windows and cast its light upon the side of his face. He was sitting on the edge of the bed ramrod straight without uttering a sound yet.
âYouâre back,â He said softly with his hand resting on her forehead.
Levitating in midair, Bing Shi tried to speak but no words came out. Instead, she moved her lips slightly to form silent sounds, â...â
He leaned over to look at her mouth. âWhat did you say?â
âIâm-â Bing Shi pointed at her throat, telling him to take his emotions under control.
He placed his thumb against her neck and pressed down gently, unclogging her throat, âWhy do you make these noises? Are you saying something?â
Her heart beat rapidly and her breath became shallow as if she was running fast, â...sorry,â she repeated.
âGood girl,â he didnât say it was alright because it wasnât, âNow, tell me what happened.â
Bing Shi blinked her eyes to shake off the hallucinations. She saw herself in front of a large crowd of people instead of a single man, âI allowed someone else to hurt me again.â
âAnd why would you allow them to hurt you?â
âBecause I am stupid.â
â...is that so?â
She nodded.
He ran his fingers through her hair and scratched lightly behind her ears, âAre you sure you didnât mean to hurt someone else instead?â
She tilted her head back and nuzzled her nose into the palm of his hand. The softness of his skin made her melt into his embrace. His scent filled her nostrils and made her feel safe, âI wanted everyone to disappear the more Julliet interacted with me, then Dai An appeared and I wanted world peace again. Does it count?â
âYou held back good to only sacrifice a pinky.â His hand cupped the back of her head and pulled her in closer. His thumb brushed against the back of her neck and then slid down between her shoulder blades. His fingers curled around her waist and lifted her up until her knees touched the bottom of the mattress. He pushed her forward until she fell on top of him, âShould I lock you up in an isolated room for a while?â
âPlease do.â
