The rain became more intense. The drops of rain were drumming against the dense canopies of the tall trees. It sounded like the buzzing of angry bees.There was a harmonic thrumming as the silver trickles of water seep into the soil, rejuvenating the life roots of the plants beneath.A homely, baked earth smell rises from the land as it is washed and cleansed by the dewy tears of summer rain. The smell of the first rain after a dry spell rose like a miasma that left the land with sweetness.Reality hits hard by the flashing of another quick streak of lightning followed by roaring of thunder. In spite of the thoughts that were filled with their sweet past events , they realised the bitterness of their relationship at present. " umm... I want to tell you something." , Both Samaira and Nishith uttered at the same time looking up at each other as their eyes met." Oops ! " , Samaira muttered by hitting her forehead slightly with her palm." Fine... It's ok. You say first. " , Nishith suggested." No... You say. " , Samaira replied with a bit of nervousness on her face.Silence grew like a malignant cancer invading their time and space rapidly.Probably there was a calmness before the upcoming storm." Hello... Samaira, we have known each other for last twelve years. We are married from last ten years. But we are not happy together. Samaira... We had a love marriage. But there is no love left anywhere. " , Nishith ended on a serious note." What... What are you trying to say, Nishith ? " , Samaira stammered being unable to believe his words. " I am in love with someone else. Her name is Richa.
