Chapter 36
The Bad Boy And The Mermaid
Hunter The entire fucking night, Blue wouldnât let me touch her.
Nope.
My wife had made her life mission to slowly torture me to death. Iâd tossed and turned for a few hours thinking about all the things I could have done to her, but Iâd brought this situation onto myself and it killed me not knowing how long she was going to torture me like this, might as well stab me with a knife.
I woke up to the sound of the shower turning on. I saw her chemise lying on the floor, and I instantly turned harder thinking of her and climbed out of bed. I decided to take my chances as I walked to the bathroom and tried the sliding doors but they wouldnât budge. The glass was fogged up with the steam and her delicate nude form was partly visible.
I knocked on the glass door. âBlue...â
âGo away.â
âBaby, please let me inside.â
âI told you to leave.â She said adamantly.
What the hell?
I wasnât really experienced a whole lot where marriage was concerned, but Iâd seen my mom fight with dad at night and then when they woke up in the morning, it was almost like the fight even didnât take place. Shouldnât this situation be the same? Why was Blue holding it against me?
Right.
The baby.
My wife didnât care about money, parties, heck, not even the diamonds. All she cared about was having a baby and Iâd been a total douche-canoe and refused her the one thing she wanted the most.
What else could I do? Sheâd married a poor man, she knew that. She also knew how I had to study and work my ass off at the same time, and yet she couldnât see the logic behind it. All that mattered was a baby.
âBlue,â I said softly.
The door didnât open and I knew at that time that I wasnât getting any pussy anytime soon. I was starting to feel sorry for my dick, literally.
I decided to give Blue some space, I knew sheâd come around. I needed to sit her down and explain the situation again and pray that she understood.
The chances of her understanding were nil. She was acting like a kid who had been denied their favorite candy, and throwing a tantrum was the only way she was going to get it.
We had the town mayorâs barbecue dinner tonight, it was casual night so Iâd gone with a simple checkered shirt over jeans. Blue was wearing a lovely pink off-shoulder dress that made her look like an innocent angel. The dress complemented her creamy complexion. I watched her from the doorway as she tied her long hair in a pony-tail with a pink satin ribbon on it.
She caught me staring, blinked and then looked back into her reflection in the mirror.
This was our first fight as a married couple, and hopefully the last because truthfully it sucked.
âBlue, can we talk?â I asked.
âCan we have a baby?â
I blew out a breath. âI told you we canât.â
âThen thereâs nothing to talk about, Hunter.â She said in a flat response.
âWhy is it so hard for you to understand? A baby is not a plaything or a toy. A baby comes with a lot of responsibilities, Blue.â
âI never said babies were playthings. Weâre married. You told me that if we married, we could have a baby.â
âIs that why you married me? Just because you wanted a baby? Is that the only reason?â
âOf course itâs not. Youâre aware why we got married.â She said and then her bottom lip trembled. âYou killed my child.â She said quietly, trying to wipe her tears.
My mouth remained slack open. âWhat?â
âYou gave me that pill yesterday and tried to kill my baby!â
I looked heavenward for the first time in months. âBlue, thereâs no baby in there.â
âYouâre a liar!â She said softly.
âTrust me, thereâs no baby yet. Iâm not lying. The pill prevents pregnancy, not kill babies.â I clarified again as I walked to her and placed both my hands on her shoulders. I leaned in and kissed the top of her head. âI would never lie to you about this.â
I kissed her forehead and slowly down on her cheeks when I reached her lips, she struggled out of my hold.
âHow long are you going to keep this up?â I asked coldly because I couldnât keep the frustration out of my voice.
She took one look at me, slid off her panties, and picked up her dress in her tiny fist, it bunched up near her waist. She lied down on the bed with legs spread. The tears were sliding down her face.
âWhat are you doing?â
âThis is what you want, donât you?â
âWhat the fuck?!â I snarled through gritted teeth. âYes, I want to have sex with you but not when youâre crying and sobbing like this. Jesus. Iâm not a monster.â
She looked mildly surprised as she sat upright. âIâm not denying you your rights. Apollo said...â
âWhat did he say?â
âApollo said I should let the husband do whatever he wanted.â
âI donât care what your brother says. But weâre not going to do anything until youâre like this.â
I walked out of the room and slammed the door behind me.

The town Mayor Mr. Cole and his wife were warm and welcoming people. They made us feel like home as soon as we joined the barbecue party.
Their son, James, was flipping burgers on the grill. He waved at me when he saw me walk in. James was only a year younger than me, and I remembered playing with him when we were kids. As a kid, he used to be a chubby big mouth who liked to pick his nose often. Hannah hated his guts because he occasionally stuck gum in her hair.
Now, James appeared different after all these years. I hoped he didnât pick his nose anymore.
âOh look, a water fountain!â Blue called out loudly, pointing at the Dolphin water fountain.
Heads turned to look at us. Suddenly, she became aware of the many people looking at us and realized that we werenât yet back on talking terms.
Her eyes held mine for a second before she looked away.
I squeezed her hand before she could go flying like a free bird that she was. âListen, Blue. People are going to ask you questions, if you donât know the answer, just donât say anything. Okay? And no talking about anything that happens in our bedroom.â
âOkay.â She agreed.
âItâs absolutely off-limits, do you understand?â
âI do.â
âAlright, good girl.â
Blue was pulled away by Mrs. Cole. She led her away to introduce her to the other ladies of the town, leaving me all alone to look out for myself.
I walked to the barbecue station and picked a variety of meat and some salad to go with it. The waiter poured me a generous amount of wine. I took a bite of the tender chicken and it melted in my mouth.
âEnjoying the party?â
I looked up from the plate to stare into a familiar pair of soft brown eyes, âViviana, nice to see you after a long time.â
She was trouble with a capital âTâ.
She wore high-waist tight jeans and a crop top that showed off her skin. Her short black hair grazed her shoulders. Her eyes moved from the bottom to the top, âSame here.â She clinked our glasses together.
Viviana popularly known as Vi was the eldest daughter of the mayor. She was the same age as my older brother Ryan, about three years older than me, but when we were kids, and played house, she insisted that I play her husband.
Summer vacations were fun.
âI met your wife,â Vi told me. âCute as a button, she is.â
âThanks.â
âWhich circus did you pick her up from?â She joked and laughed as if that was the funniest line anyone ever used. I threw her a look.
âStill a jealous witch, arenât you?â
That shut the laugher up. âOh god, Hunt. I was kidding. But seriously, sheâs making the ladies laugh, and Iâm pretty sure sheâs going to get some birthday party gigs soon. We donât have a clown in town.â
âWould you please stop doing that?â
âStop doing what?â She asked defensively.
âStop trying to act funny because youâre not,â I said and walked away from there when all I wanted to do was put my hands around her throat and throttle her. I just didnât want to go to jail.
I put as much distance between me and Vi as I could, but she followed me like a very obedient Retriever.
âLeave me alone!â I hissed at her, taking a drink of the white wine.
âGee, Hunt. I didnât mean to upset you.â She made a pout face. She wasnât really sorry though.
She was still so fucking spoilt. I thought maybe, just maybe sheâd matured over the years. Turns out that wasnât the case.
âSo, what have you been up to lately?â She asked, flipping her dark hair.
âJust taking care of dadâs restaurant.â Which was almost the truth, she didnât need to know that I worked there as a waiter.
She gave me a nod. âKnew you werenât the type with too many aspirations in life.â
âWhat the fuck does that mean?â
She giggled and waved her hand, âNothing.â
She was being mean on purpose. I decided to ignore it. Itâs not like Vi was going to be my neighbor anyway. She liked to make herself feel superior by putting others down, and I knew if she was a man, my fists would have loved to connect with her jaw.
âWanna get out of this party? You know, like somewhere more private?â
I gave her a look that asked âAre you nuts?â
âHell no,â I said.
âOh, câmon, Hunt. We can have a little fun, especially when your wife is going to do exactly that.â
My eyes followed Blue. It had probably been two minutes, tops, that Iâd taken my gaze off her, and now she was standing there by the tree talking to a tall, blond guy. And she was laughing. I watched as the guy placed a hand on her shoulder, and then he casually started leading her away from the party.
My blood began to boil, and I saw red.
I couldnât hear Vi speaking as I marched across the lawn briskly, âHey!âI shoved him so hard he went reeling back.
âWhat the hell?!â He began complaining and then stopped when he saw the look of pure rage in my eyes. I pulled Blue to my side and shoved him back, harder this time.
âStay the fuck away from my wife, do you understand?! Touch her again, hell, look at her the wrong way and Iâll kill you, you sonofabitch.â
âOh my god! Hunt! Thatâs my husband!â Vi yelled behind me.
âThis man is your husband?â I asked, flabbergasted.
âYes!â
âSo why was he flirting with my wife?â
âBig deal, Hunter. Stop acting so immature.â She began rolling her eyes instead of questioning her husband. âMaybe your wife should stop trying hard to get so much attention, what with the blue hair and everything. She looks like those wannabe mermaids. Brent was just being nice and...â
âHe can be as nice as he fucking wants by keeping a fifty-feet distance from her and hands to himself.â I was shaking with anger, I felt Blueâs hand on my arm. âYou might as well try keeping your husband on a leash. That may help. And you say one more word about Blue, and Iâll forget youâre the mayorâs daughter.â
Vi was fuming and she went to stand beside her womanizer husband, âcome on, Brent. I think the city folks are really goddamn crazy.â
Wow. Look whoâs talking?
âI was just going to show her the horses in our stables,â Brent complained to Vi.
Yeah, fucking right. The horses.
What kind of wife would let her husband take another manâs wife to the fucking horse stables? What type of marriage had Vi gotten herself into?
I led Blue away from there. There were some kids playing in an inflated little pool. I maintained a safe distance as we stopped there. I nudged softly under her chin so we were making eye-contact. âWhat were you thinking about going with him like that?â
âHe...He told me they had beautiful horses, and then he smiled and asked me if Iâd like to see them, so I said yes.â
âDo you know how many horses we have on our property?â Before she could answer, I said. âFifteen. And if you want more, weâll get them. Brent wasnât taking you to show you any horses.â
âThen what other reason did he have?â She asked innocently.
I looked her over once. She really has no clue how beautiful she was to a man, did she?
âHe was suggesting sex.â
Surprise turned to horror. âI didnât know, Hunter. Iâm sorry. But, he knew I was married. How could he...â
Even if I wanted to protect her from all the wrong things, I knew I couldnât.
âSome people, well...â I scratched my head. âsome people think itâs okay to have sex with other people while they are married to someone else.â
She gasped and covered her mouth with her hand like sheâd heard the worst of the worst. Did she know there was a thing called murder that existed in our world? And bad people? Maybe I was exaggerating but what would have transpired earlier was an example of how truly pure Blue was. How would I protect her from all the evil of this world?
âSweetheart, do not ever go with someone else like that without my permission, okay? No one ever gets to touch you other than me.â
She nodded earnestly.
âI mean it.â I said firmly. âYouâre everything to me, and I couldnât bear to see you hurt in anyway.â
She nodded her head again.
âGood girl.â I pulled her closer and kissed her cheek.
I reached inside my pocket for my phone but realized Iâd left it the house. I groaned, âI left my phone inside. Stay here, do not move until I come back for you. No matter if anyone offers to show you Unicorns or fairies, you do not move. Okay?â
âOkay.â She said.
The Bad Boy And The Mermaid ï¤Chapter 35 In My Desperate Time ï¤Chapter 637: You're the Best Gift in My Life 19 âIâll say good-bye to Mr. and Mrs. Cole,â I called out before I took off towards the house.
It took a few minutes before I located my phone on the coffee table in the sitting area. Then I said a quick goodbye to the family and made my way out of the house.
I heard a loud shriek and a splash.
Blue had gotten pushed into the little pool by a kid.
Blue had turned into a mermaid.
