Chapter 21

CHAPTER 20- IN THE ARMS OF HER ENEMY.

BRUTAL MINDS (A DARK ROMANCE)

The act took him by surprise that He didn't know how to respond, her tears began to wet his shoulder but He could care less as He let her cry herself out as much as she wanted. She was so pressed against him that when she finally came around from her outburst, she was embarrassed at the intimacy of their embrace. His chest was bare due to the half done buttons and she wasn't wearing a bra either! Crap!Untangling her fingers from his neck, she couldn't believe she just did that, couldn't believe she just sobbed her heart out on Hades Lenshaw of all people.

I'm sorry...she managed to say in a quiet voice.

Don't be. He returned, sounding so stiff and formal that she wanted to shrivel up and die.

You're so stupid Ally...

You can't involve the police.

Why?

They...

Nevermind we'll continue this conversation tomorrow, you need to get some sleep and not here.

What? She looked up at him as He stood up.

You're staying the rest of the night at my place.

What? No no no

What if He comes back? I can't let you stay alone.

Allison nodded in agreement. She was still shaken up over all that had happened and the last thing she wanted right now was a repetition.

Get up, He said.

She stood on her feet and they both walked outside the room only for Allison to trip on the way.

I'm sorry, she apologized.

On a muttered cuss, Hades walked over to her and scooped her high up against his chest, taking them both outside the house.

I can walk! She protested.

Mhmm, He barely spared her a look.

Put me down, I said I can...

Just shut the hell up and enjoy the ride. Was his curt, calm response as He led her through the sand.

He felt her wriggle, she was uncomfortable with him, that was sure. On the other hand, he started to realize what He was carrying was light as a feather and slender as a reed and also her trembling had reduced a bit. For awhile she looked up at him, his eyes were straight ahead. She started to take in the features of his rigid masculine face.

His chin was square and slightly chiseled, she could see them clench and unclench a few times, was He upset about something? His eyebrows were two sternly straight black bars that dipped a little towards the bridge of his nose, his eyes were slant and narrow, it made her think of wild animals. Suitably, a tiger. His eyes were golden brown and they seemed to be reflecting with a dark steely glint right now.

He led her to the balcony, setting  her down as he opened the door and lee her inside. The beach houses were all built to be strikingly expressive on the outside but the inside was the total opposite as it was very basic; just one bedroom, a small sitting room and kitchen and a bathroom.

Really they were meant to be nothing more than a place to cool off after a day on the beach. It also served as the perfect place for a single person to use for a holiday. Problems only arose when that single person doubled to two and it was a problem that was beginning to dawn on both of them as they go in. Allison felt her throat suddenly dry up at the sudden awkwardness. What was she even doing here?

I'm sorry...I have to leave...

However she froze once she turned to the door. Going back to that bedroom would only aggravate her terror and what if He came back? She sighed, turning back around.

Wh-where's the bathroom?

That way...Hades pointed out.

She wobbled forward, almost toppling over but He was quick to hold her just in the nick of time.

I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me. She apologized, frustrated with herself.

No more apologies, I don't want them. He said. I think you need to sleep.

I need to wash up first, get the feel of his hands off my skin.

Hades nodded, leading her to the bathroom. There are fresh towels in the left cabinet and a hair dryer on the right.

She only nodded, shutting the door as she got in.

Hades found his way to the sitting room and sat down on a couch. He was clearly still agitated by the incidence. He could clearly remember the bastard's face. Who knows, he could be long gone already but nothing was going to shield that swine from his grasp, absolutely nothing! He heaved a sigh. He couldn't wait for tomorrow so she could leave, she was uncomfortable with him and so was He. If only this incident hadn't happened, He hated inconveniences. Just then he heard the bathroom door creak open, she called out to him.

H..Hades?

Her head was propping from the door, he could see the water dripping down her wet hair to her sleek shoulders, she was obviously still undressed.

What is it?

Do you...happen to have something I can change into? I'm sorry, I should have grabbed something before we left my place.

Ah screw it!...He thought, before turning around, only to return a few seconds later with a white t-shirt in hand.

Thank you. She said, shutting the door once again.

Soon she was out of the bathroom, wearing his T-shirt which was three to four times her side. Hades concealed a smile at how much little the shirt made her.

The bedroom's this way... He said, getting up and she followed behind him.

Where will you sleep? She asked once they got in.

Not for you to worry about.

I need to know, you're my guest on this island and it wouldn't be right for you to suffer any inconveniences.

Having a woman in his space was all the inconvenience in the world for him. Hades thought.

The living room would be fine.

I see, I'm really sorry for dumping on you like this.

No apologies Allison.

I don't know what-else to say. She sighed, shifting her gaze to the well spread medium sized wooden bed.

Lost in thoughts I guess, she murmured approaching the bed. She swiftly turned around the moment He was about the leave.

Hades! came her panicked voice.

What is it?

Is it...are you sure It's safe here...I don't...

You're still shaken up Allison, rest is all you need, be assured no one will be able to hurt you here.

Will you stay? She burst out, only to regret it afterwards but she was so scared, she couldn't stay alone.

What?

Just for a few seconds...just wait by the door till I fall asl...she let out a sigh. You're simply foolish Ally...

Forget I ever said that. She said, turning her back at him. She stared at the bed for a few seconds, hers was just as perfect until...until...

In.

She heard Hades say in more of a command, like a stern father to a rebellious child. He moved to the bedside and flipped back the bed covers.

Get In...He added.

She complied, laying back and pulling the covers over herself. Goodnight, see you in the morn...

"Shut Up" she heard him cut her pathetic voice short and in the next second He was sitting on the bed beside her, his back resting on the bed board.

I'll stay until you go to sleep. He announced.

Wha..? You don't have to! She flared, the knowledge of how much she hated this man suddenly came flooding back in.

I changed my mind, I'll be fine, you can get out now. I don't want you st...

Now listen to me you feisty little witch....

He said, trying to bring his voice to a whisper but unfortunately, that only made his baritone deeper and more threatening.

....I'm not enjoying this situation any more than you are, one more provocation from you pet, and I'm most likely to lose my temper.

She stared up at him, speechless.

If you need me here, I'll stay, if you want me to go, I'll go. Your decision.

"Please stay"...came her small voice.

She had no strength to fret alone in the dark all night. Having someone here with her would be better even if it was this Devil of a man.

My mother...she started...she used to...she would lock me up in the dark whenever I did something she didn't like, she would...she would always say, it was all my fault. I just...her voice trailed off. Maybe she was talking too much. Allison thought.

Hades looked down at her, unsure of how to respond but now He understood why she was so frightened, childhood traumas are the worst thing that could reoccur in a person's memory.

Tonight's incident was never your fault Allison.

It was, I was so blinded by...hate. She couldn't let the last word out...I was so eager to spite you so I attended the party.

And we'll have a long talk about defying me in the future but for now, shut those big blue eyes and go to sleep. I'll only be here for an hour so you should be asleep before then. He said, curtly.

Mmm. She responded, taking off her glasses, placing them on the table next to the bed, before shutting her eyes and trying her best to fall asleep.

Allison opened her eyes the next morning, sleepily reaching out her hands to the desk and grabbing her glasses. Her mind was still foggy as to what had transpired last night. I'm not...in my room. She thought, confused. Then it suddenly came back, the attempt at assault, Hades coming into her room, the way she sobbed shamelessly in his shoulders, He had carried her to his place afterwards, she fell asleep and now...

Morning...

It was Hades standing in the doorway.

Mmm, good morning. She returned awkwardly, getting on her feet. Only to realize how small she was whenever she stood near him.

What time is it?

A little past nine.

I see. Well thank you for last night. Although it wasn't necessary. She said.

I'll be leaving now. She added.

I was going to make a report but I thought it'd be better if you made a statement yourself.

What? She spun around, snatching the telephone from his hand. No, we can't involve the police in this.

You're joking aren't you?

Please,

Care to explain yourself?

I just reopened this resort, do you realize I'll not just lose money but tourists if they get to know someone was almost raped here?!

And that someone was you.

Which makes it all the more worse. The media would trail me for weeks, I'll lose my reputation and only source of livelihood.

Only source? He quirked an eyebrow, confused. What happened to Doreen Corp?

She scoffed. It's closed.

What?

All thanks to you. The last statement was laced with so much spite.

Back to the current situation, He cut her off.

We can't involve the police Hades.

She walked towards the door but stopped halfway.

Stay out of my sight and my life until I pay off my father's debt. Come to think of it, why involve the police? Aren't you the Devil himself? Find those bastards and make paint out of them or something. She turned to look at him.

You know it'd be a piece of cake for you  and this time, I'm not stopping you.

With that said, she left the house.

Hades watched her leave, her last statement had struck a chord. He smiled faintly, but she was wrong if she thought He only had one method of torture. There was more, so much more.

Allison could finally breathe in some fresh air once she was out of the same space with him. Yes she despised him that much but now she could only hope He listens and doesn't involve the cops. In the meantime, she had to be careful. Like He said, she couldn't afford passing out the wrong message. Urgh! To think she had no choice but to follow his advice. Forget about Hades Lenshaw, she had things to do but first, she had to contact Davian. Where was He here by the way?

The day went on smoothly but oddly she didn't see either Hades or Davian throughout that day. She left countless missed calls and voicemails on Davian's phone but got no response. It was late at night She started to get scared. What was going on?  Maybe ask Hades? Surely his uncle would know where He was or maybe not necessarily but either ways, she had to return his shirt he had lended her the night before.

Knock! Knock!!

There was no response from Hades beach house but the door was unlocked so she went in. Empty! It was empty! She looked around for awhile before realizing faint groans were coming from down below. What? When she went through the designs of the beach houses, they weren't supposed to have an underground compartment.

She crouched down and placed her ears on the ground. The groans only got louder. Okay there has to be some kind of stair that led downstairs. No not a stair much appropriately, a loose plank that could be moved she just had to figure out which one.

Allison kept feeling her way through the floor until she found the loose plank, taking it out she went down and found a small room. The scene shocked her! Hades was sitting cross legged on a steel chair as a certain tied up man on his knees with a black bag over his head was being beaten by two other stronger ones. Although she couldn't see his face, she could tell from his physique that this man was Davian. She tried to rush up to him but another of his men held her back.

What's going on? She demanded in panic.

You shouldn't be down here. Hades simply said.

What are you doing? Let him go!

A few more minutes and I'll let him go.

Wh...what? No! Let him go please. Allison couldn't bare the sight of him being battered. Why are you doing THIS?! She yelled.

Why? It's a pity your lover doesn't know his duties. Where was he last night when you were attacked? Where was he when you choose to go to that dumb party? Shouldn't he be the one keeping tabs on you? Well, I'll just have to make him learn. Make him understand his obligations to you and ensure He never lets you out of  his sight again.
