Chapter 41 : Groom ✈ bride

Lara's P.O.V. :

I was looking outside the window of my apartment and feeling the cold airplay with my hair slowly. I liked what the air was doing to me. it was trying to heal my pain..it was trying the calm my inner havoc.

How things changed in just a few days?! I never ever thought that my life would change so much in just a few days....how I thought of never getting into any romantic relationship with anyone, even a casual relationship was never in my mind and how today here I am totally fallen in love with the man who can never be mine. He has already become someone else's now. I cannot even have hopes for the future with him now.

I never thought my heart would break like this without even making any sound. I thought my life was complete....me, Cara, good job, good education and best friends like Angie and Ash. But after meeting and falling for Shane, I realized how incomplete my life was-how incomplete I was. But I guess this is how it was supposed to be...maybe my life is always going to stay incomplete like this.

It was getting late so I turned to go to the bed where Cara was sleeping peacefully. Before I could take any step further I heard a loud honk of a car. I went back to the window and looked down to see who was honking so loudly at this hour of the night. There was a black Mercedes Benz pulled over in front of the main door of our apartment. Is Shane here at this hour? I thought.

No, why would he be here? He might be enjoying his engagement. My train of thoughts was halted when the person inside the car honked again.

I locked the apartment door quietly to make sure Cara doesn't wake up and slowly descended the stairs and reached in front of the car. The headlight was on due to which I was unable to look who was inside the car. My heart beat started to race thinking it might be none other than Shane but my hope was thrown out of the window when the headlight was turned off and Mr Stone came out of the car with his signature smirk on his face.

"Mr Stone? What are you doing at this hour of the night?" I asked confused. I have never seen him before in this locality and I don't think he would have any work in this locality...then why is he here? is he here to meet me? nah...I don't even know him that much that he would show any interest in meeting me.

He walked towards me and sat on the bonnet of his car. He then crossed his legs and also his arms over his chest and kept staring at me with that silly smirk on his face.

"What? Why are you looking at me with that smirk on your face? Is something on my face?" I asked while I started trying to figure out if there's anything smudged on my face.

"I was trying to see what Shane saw in you and fell in love with you...I mean this is the first time since our childhood that I have seen him falling for a girl so hard. Even in high school he never had a crush on any of the girls...but You are different. You made him fall in love with you. Wow! You really must be an enchantress to do that. " he said as he jumped off the bonnet and stood straight in front of me.

"So you also think the same as Mrs Adams and Cameron? I also thought the same thing but today I am sure that he is not in love with me- he never was." I said sadly looking down on my hands that were playing with each other.

"He loves you, Lara..." I was about to disagree but he held my hands firmly and continued.

"....he didn't even get engaged to Tiara. The engagement got cancelled." He completed and I kept staring at him as if he has grown horns on his head

"What? The engagement got cancelled? Why?" I asked feeling all confused.

"Yes, the engagement got cancelled...."

Shane's P.O.V. :

"Brother, are you still going to marry Tiara? Can't you see that you love Lara and cannot even see her with some other guy? This is love and you're screwing everything. You've been given a golden opportunity brother today. Just think what would have happened if Mr Stones hadn't cut into and hadn't made you realize how much you love Lara. Can't you see? Please don't do this to Lara and to yourself. Understand and take the right decision before its too late to decide anything." Jake tried to make me understand the fact which I have already understood.

I can't even imagine Tiara as my wife. She comes nowhere while comparing to my girl, my Lara. I was such an asshole to not understand this simple thing that I cannot live without my woman. I need her with me every time every second. She has become my lifeline and I'm not gonna lose her. Not this time.

"Shane you were lucky that your childhood friend knew what kind of decisive people were these father and daughter. Son please think wisely and don't do this to yourself, to Lara and to us. Please. Are you listening, Shane?" Mom cried.

Yes, mom, I am listening to everything you're saying. I am just thinking about how stupid I was to let go of my woman. What if I had gotten engaged tonight? I would have regretted my whole life then. Thanks to that bastard Stones who flirted with my woman and made me realize this simple thing. Thanks to him that I called off the engagement at the very last moment and apologized to Tiara and her dad. They were kind enough to forgive me and my stupidity.

"Say something, Shany." Cammy looked at me hopefully.

"Guys, going to get my lady back. Wish me luck!" I said, smilingly.

Everybody stopped their rantings and looked at me with utter shock. They looked at me in some foreign way trying to figure out if I really spoke the words which I spoke a while ago.

"Really? You're not kidding right?" Mom cried in excitement.

"Yes, mom. I am going to get her back. I know I was stupid enough to let her go once but not again. Thanks for bringing Stones into the picture, mom. It really helped." I said as I hugged her tightly.

She patted on my back, lovingly.

"I am proud of you my son. You made the right decision." She said as she wiped the tears from her cheeks.

"Now don't waste any more time and just go and bring her back." She added.

"Wow! Great! I am coming with you...Aah! I guess the baby is tired today." Cammy said everything in one breathes and sat down on the sofa caressing her baby bump

"Yes, you take rest. I am going to bring her back." I said as I kissed her forehead.

"Great! Just great brother!" Jake said and hugged me.

"Please hurry and bring my daughter-in-law back. And don't forget my little Cara. I need them both here. Don't come back without them." Mom said the last part in a warning tone.

"Yes, boss!" I kissed her cheeks and we both laughed.

"Now go before its too late," Cammy said

"Its already late now," she said in half breathe. she was panting and trying to control her breathing

"Already late? What do you mean? And why are you panting?" Ian asked walking towards her

"I came running all the way from the main gate of this mansion. pheww...and...Lara is leaving the country along with Cara forever. She's going to her grandparents' house in the UK." Ash informed and my heart ached to hear her words

"No! She can't. I won't let that happen." I said as I ran towards the exit gate.

"Please bring back my daughter-in-law, son. I want her here with you. " Mom said drying her tears.

"I will bring her back with me, mom. I promise!" I said, determined.

"All the best, brother." Ian and Jake said in unison and showed me the thumbs up.

I nodded my head as I got into my sports car and started the engine.

I spend the car towards the direction of the airport.

"Please don't go. Lara!" I kept saying these words to myself.
