chapter 20- Planned or unplanned?
His Unwanted Desire
Mr. Adams = Shane
Senior Mr. Adams = Shane's father,
I hope you guys don't get confused.
Lara's P.O.V. :
"Cara, today you'll have to come with me to the Adams' mansion. Mrs. Black is not at home and The Hudson's aren't in town." I said changing her into her new clothes.
"Yay!" She squealed in excitement.
"And you are not do to anything mischievous , okay!" I said, giving her a warning look.
"Yes, mommy! Now let's go or we'll be late." She said, arranging my scarf properly.
"Yes, boss!" I said sarcastically and followed her out of the apartment.
Shane's P.O.V. :
"Come in." I said and the next candidate for the job of receptionist entered into my cabin.
"May I sit down, sir?" she asked, politely.
I looked from my laptop to her. She was a young girl of around Ms. Jones' age.
What the crap! Why do I always need to bring her into everything?
She was a girl of around 22 or 23.
She sat in front of me on the chair when I told to do so. She handed me her file and I started going through her file and found out her name was Lara Dave.
Not again!
After I was done going through her file I looked up on her face. She looked a little nervous.
"So, you've applied for the job of the receptionist..why do you need this job? And why should I choose you for this job?" I asked in a bit of a bossy tone.
"Sir, I think I am capable for this job because I have a year of experience as a receptionist, I have good academic record and I think I've got everything which a receptionists should have in her." She said, confidently.
I liked her confidence. This is the attitude which a person should have to become a receptionist.
"I'm impressed, Ms. Dave. You got the job. You can collect the confirmation letter from the HR department and report on the job from tomorrow. I hate tardiness." I said as I closed her file and handed it back to her.
She took the file from my hands and smiled.
"Thank you so much sir. By the way, I am not Ms. Dave. I am Mrs. Dave." She said, blushing.
Wow...just wow!
Why the hell every Lara in this world needs to be married?
Can't they just remain single?!
"And you also must have a daughter?" I asked, with a fake smile.
"How do you know, sir?" She was shocked
But I wasn't shocked. Not at all!
I know everything about 'Laras'.
"Just guessed it." I said and started working back on my laptop.
She exited my cabin with a smile.
Wait..not Ms. Dave, she's Mrs. Dave.
Then why the hell is Ms. Jones- Ms. Jones. If she's married then shouldn't she be Mrs. Jones?
"How dare you? You stole my friend's first kiss....." I remember Ms. Jones' friend accusing me of stealing her first kiss.
If that was her first kiss then how can she have a daughter?
Something is fishy! I need to find out.
******
"Sir, as per your orders, I investigated about Ms. Lara Jones. Ms. Jones is single. She isn't married and the little girl you saw with her yesterday is her 4 years old sister, Cara Jones." My private investigator, Daniel informed me on the phone.
I knew it! I knew it that she's not married. I was right...Shane Adams is never wrong.
But who was that guy who kissed her? If he's not her husband then why the hell did he kiss her?
How dare he kiss her?
I tightened my grip around the phone when I remembered that bastard kissing Ms. Jones.
"And who was that guy with her in the park?" I asked under gritted teeth.
"Sir, he's Ms. Jones' schoolmate. They met yesterday by chance after a long time." he informed.
I took a sigh of relief.
Even if he's her friend, he's got no right to kiss her. Which friend kisses another friend?
Almost all the friends do that. My conscience said.
But why did she need to lie?
Because you were acting like a psycho with her at the party. My conscience interrupted again
Was I?
Yes!
But it was because of her. She shouldn't have danced with that flirt kinda guy, Raymark. I never liked that guy. He's a womanizer.
I was in my thoughts when I received a phone call from home.
Lara's P.O.V. :
After 20 minutes of drive, we were in front of the mansion.
"Wow! This is like a castle, mommy. Does a prince live here?" She asked, admiring the beauty of the mansion.
"Not a prince, but a monster." I said, rolling my eyes.
Mr. Shane Adams is nothing less than a monster.
"Really?" Cara held my hands tightly, frightened.
Opps! I frightened her.
"I was kidding, Cara. Many other good people live along with the monster in this mansion. Now let's go inside." I said and she nodded her head.
I rang the door bell and Dora opened the door. She looked really tensed.
"What happened Dora? Why are you so tensed?" I asked, looking her.
"Ms. Jones, actually...Mrs. Adams..." she was cut off by the loud cry of Cameron.
She ran towards the living area hurriedly.
We followed her and entered the living area. Mrs. Adams was lying on the couch, unconscious. She had a white bandage around her forehead.
Cameron was crying holding her hands. Mr Parker was trying to console her and Josh was crying along with his mother.
I rushed towards her.
"What happened, Cameron? What happened to Mrs. Adams?" I asked wiping Cameron's tears.
She hugged me tightly and started sobbing louder.
"What happened to mom?" a strong male voice asked from behind.
We all turned to see the person. Mr. Adams was standing at the door of the room.
He rushed towards Mrs. Adams and sat on the couch beside her.
"Mom...wake up! Please wake up!" He held her left hand and kissed it.
"What happened to her?" He turned to Cameron and asked.
His eyes were filled with tear but he was controlling them.
"Mom was coming down the stairs when she slipped and fell down. Her head hit the edge of the stairs. Doctor aided her and has given her anesthesia." Cameron said, looking at him.
Mr. Adams turned towards his mother and started caressing her hand.
"It's my fault mom. It's all my fault, I never listened to you and always made you angry. I am sorry, mom. Please forgive your son for always being busy and failing to give you time." He said kissing her bandaged forehead.
"No son. It's not your fault. It's my fault, she was in a deep tension because of our discussion last night." Senior Mr. Adams sat on the other side of the couch holding her hands.
"Grandma is awake!" Josh blurted.
We all turned to Mrs. Adams. She was trying to open her eyes slowly.
"Mom!" Cameron said and hugged her mother.
"What happened, Cammy? Why are you all crying?" Mrs. Adams asked looking at everyone with confused look.
"Mom...don't you remember anything?" Cameron asked, worriedly.
"I remember everything, honey. I fell down the stairs. I was walking without seeing. I was thinking about different things. My mind was occupied by various things." She said trying to memorize what happened to her.
"Mom. I love you." Mr. Adams said happily and hugged her.
"Shany, you're hugging me real tight. I'll die out of suffocation." Mrs. Adams joked.
"Oh...honey!" Senior Mr. Adams took her into his embrace.
"Looks like my accident hit you guys real hard." She joked again.
Everyone chuckled including Cara and me.
We were seated at a distant from her.
She roamed her eyes around the room and looked worried.
"What happened, mom?" Mr. Adams asked, concerned.
"Where's my daughter-in-law?" She asked, confused.
"Daughter-in-law?" Mr. Adams gave her a questioning look.
"Yes, shany! Where's your wife. You said you'll bring her home, right?" She said roaming her eyes around again.
Finally, her eyes stopped when she saw me. She extended her hands signalling me to come near.
I along with Cara who was holding my fingers, walked towards her.
"Oh my dear, here you are!" She said and took me into her embrace.
I hugged her too.
"Good to see that you're fine, Mrs. Adams." I said, smiling.
We parted from our hug.
"Call me mom, dear. You're family now." She said, smiling.
Mom?
Family?
Everyone were shocked by her behavior including me. Everyone gave me a puzzled look.
"What are you talking about, mom? She is not family, she is Josh's piano teacher." Mr. Adams said, confused.
"Shany, there's problem in every marriage, but that doesn't mean you'll break every relation with your life partner. She's your wife, Shany." She said and then noticed Cara holding my hands and looking at the scene timidly.
"Shany...you didn't tell you've a daughter too. What other things you haven't told me yet?" She asked in a complaining voice.
"What?" Mr. Adams and I looked at each other in shock.
She asked Cara to come closer.
"Oh, my granddaughter! Come to grandma. You look just like your mother," She carried Cara and put her on her lap.
"Now you'll have to help your grandma to bring your mom and dad closer." She said as she kissed Cara's cheek.
Cara smiled at her and kissed her back.
What is she saying? Daughter-in-law? Wife? Granddaughter?
"Mom-" Mr. Adams was cut of by Mr. Adams.
"Honey, what are you saying? I think you've misunderstood something." senior Mr. Adams said holding her hands and trying to convince her.
"I'm feeling little dizzy, honey. I think I need to take some rest. Dora...take me up to my bedroom." She ordered Dora. Dora helped her stand up.
She walked upstairs with Dora leaving everyone behind, confused. Senior Mr. Adams helped Dora to take Mrs. Adams in her bedroom.
