Chapter 10
The Boy in the Walls
Oliver woke up and groaned, his head was foggy, he couldn't think right, and he could barely standup. There was no bout about it, he was sick. The small borrower walked to his medicine cabinet and paused. He hadn't restocked on supply's recently, which MENT he would have to go and get them while he was sick.
Oliver stumbled out of the tunnels and into the kitchen. He made his way to the medicine cabinet. The sick boy climbed into the Abe it but when he got to the medicine bottle he couldn't open it. He struggled loudly trying to get it open but finally collapsed from exhaustion, and herd footsteps coming.
Isaac called "Oliver, are you here?" The small borrower flinched at the raised voice, but knew he had to respond lest the human suspect any weakness. "Y-yeah, just gathering supplies and stuff" he said in a chipper tone.
Isaac opened the medicine Cabernet and gasped "Oliver are you okay? You look awful" he said concerned "thanks man" Oliver replied sarcastically. "That's not what I meant, are sick?" He asked. Oliver hesitated before lying "yeah I'm fine, just need a bit of sleep that's all" he's aided getting up unsteadily. His legs, unfortunately, thought otherwise and gave way under him.
"You sure about that." Isaac said in a tone that basically me the didn't fall for it. "Fine I'm sick, its not that big of a deal okay?" Oliver quipped. "What your sick?! Do you need help?" Isaac asked the borrower. Oliver really didn't want anything it do with this human but it wasn't like he could actually do anything by himself.
The sick boy groaned annoyingly before saying "okay, maybe I do need help after all. Just...be careful." Isaac proceeded to gently pick up Oliver and lay him on his open palm, then grabbed some medicine.
The movement made Oliver more nauseous but he didn't say anything. Isaac walked to his. Room and prepared a small bed for his sick friend, before laying him down on it. The human noted how hot Oliver had felt on his hand. "Your really burning up buddy, why didn't you just come to me from the start?" Isaac asked "i-i didn't want to bother you" Oliver said half heartedly looking in he direction of the window.
After giving Oliver the medicine and getting him to fall asleep, Isaac sat, stroking the tiny boys hair softly. He couldn't get over how small he was. Isaacs mind filled with questions "how long has he been living here? Where is his family and what are they like? Will i ever find out what he is exactly? What are all his likes and dislikes?" They swarmed around his head in a blizzard of enigmas. He wanted to know everything about his friend, but first he would have to gain Oliver's trust.
Isaac continued looking adoringly at his friend. And he too began to fall asleep.
