Promise

From the very moment I came into this world

I had the promise of love

Love was supposed to be a given

Love to me meant effort and affection towards your loved ones

However I grew up different

My life I've never had the luxury as others

The surface was a lie to the others

They couldn't even began to think of what went on beneath it

I still have trouble

I get scared I'll go too deep

Where I'll come up gasping for air

Trying to avoid suffocating

Overwhelming thoughts start to take over me

Where it all went wrong is still a question

I still have trouble finding it out for myself.
