Chapter 1079
Mission To Remarry
Chapter 1079 I Must Stop Crying âWhy are you upset? Did I say something wrong?â Roxanne forced herself to stay calm and looked at him.
She did want to break off ties with the Farwell family, but this wasnât how she expected it to happen. If I do nothing to stop him from bringing Essie away, no one knows what heâll tell her back home.
Seeing that she didnât seem to know her mistake, Lucian frowned angrily. âHow are you wrong? Didnât Essie make it clear? It was my fault.â
With that, he turned to leave. Roxanne gritted her teeth. It was obvious he said that out of anger, so she couldnât let him leave in this state.
Lucian was already downstairs when Roxanne finally made up her mind. She quickened her steps and grabbed his sleeves.
As she approached, Estellaâs cries grew quieter.
Lucian glanced at her hand gripping his sleeve with his dark and inscrutable gaze.
I wonder what she will say.
Roxanneâs instincts acted faster than her mind. She stopped him but could not find the words to make him stay.
âIf you have nothing to say, please release me, Ms. Jarvis,â Lucian said coldly.
Roxanne was taken aback, as it was a familiar scenario to her.
Previously, she would do the same thing to Lucian whenever he tried to make her stay.
It seemed that they had exchanged roles today, and she was the one getting pushed away.
Roxanne didnât know how to feel about that.
âDonât act recklessly. Letâs sit down and talk,â she said weakly a while later.
That seemed to spark Lucianâs anger again. He held Estella with one hand and used his other hand to shove her hand away from his sleeve.
âWe have nothing to talk about. Ms. Jarvis, please remember your promise earlier.â
He then turned around to leave without hesitation.
Roxanne stretched her arm out weakly but did not have the courage to call his name again.
Estella also seemed to know that her father wouldnât relent no matter what she did.
At that realization, she was overwhelmed with sorrow. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her vision turned blurry.
Archie and Benny were waiting quietly downstairs.
Their hearts sank when they noticed Lucianâs expression.
Oh, no. Daddy and Mommy are fighting again. It looks like we have to work harder!
The boys watched silently as Lucian strode past them with Estella in his arms.
Estellaâs eyes were wet with tears, so it was obvious she had cried a lot.
The boys felt bad for her, but they didnât forget to mouth the words: Donât cry! Letâs work hard together!
They gestured for her to wipe off her tears.
Estella pouted unhappily but bobbed her head and raised her hand to wipe off her tears obediently.
Weâve made a pact. If Daddy and Ms. Jarvis cannot reconcile, weâll have to work hard to make that happen! I must stop crying!
Lucian sensed her breathing calming down and frowned in confusion.
After all, it was the first time Estella had stopped crying or kicking up a fuss when he brought her away from Roxanne.
Is Essie losing control of her tears again?
Lucianâs expression darkened when the thought of that possibility crossed his mind. He turned Estella around and observed her carefully.
There were tear stains on Estellaâs face, but she was no longer crying.
Sensing his gaze, she gave him a tremulous smile.
Lucianâs confusion heightened as he wondered what happened during Estellaâs stay at Roxanneâs place.
