Chapter 18

Two Opposites (OWENS SERIES #2)

After I came back from my parents house I took a quick shower and decided to go out again to get some food because I was too lazy to make dinner by myself, like every day. I didn't take my car to the restaurant because it was only a five minute walk from my house to the restaurant so it was kind of unnecessary.

I walked past many different restaurants, diners, bars and cafes but came to a halt in front of one certain diner even though it wasn't my intention to buy food there. While I was looking into it I saw Myra sitting in one of the booths. But it wasn't her who caught my attention. It was the particular brunette sitting across from her, that I've been dying to talk to for more than a week now. And there she is. Without her brother in sight who could tell me to leave her alone which is the last thing I'm going to do now that I've seen her out and about without him.

I went inside the diner and took advantage of the fact that Emilia was seated with her back towards the entrance, where I came from. Myra saw me striking towards them but she didn't let it show and acted like nothing is wrong and I was really thankful for the fact that Myra is on my side. I stopped when I was at the booth where both of them were sitting at and Emilia almost spit out her chocolate milkshake when she saw me standing in front of her and it took me all my strength not to smile because it was an inappropriate situation.

"Isaac what are you doing here?" she asked in shock and looked at Myra with a dangerous glint in her eye.

"I need to talk to you" I answered, standing there like an idiot. I felt almost every pair of eyes on me but I didn't care. All I could think about was Emilia and how gorgeous she looked with her hair falling down her back in loose curls that I- ok focus Isaac.

"Isaac now is not a good time maybe some other day but-" she started but I didn't have any of that. There's no way I would leave this diner without clearing the problem that she seems to have with me.

"No but Emilia. I want to know what's going on and I'm not leaving before I get my answer" I said determinant to stay which she seemed to notice. She sighed as her eyes scanned the diner and she looked at Myra who nodded and got up to leave. As she was leaving she patted my back as a way of assuring me that I was doing the right thing. I don't know since when Myra and I get along if that's what you can call it but I was thankful for the support she was giving me.

I took a seat in the place where Myra was sitting just seconds ago so now I was directly in front of her. I tried to look her in the eyes to get a hint of what she was feeling right now but she avoided any kind of eye contact.

"What have I done that you don't want to see me or talk to me? I thought everything went well!" I said getting directly to the point since I didn't know how much time I would have with her.

"It did went well but I just don't have enough time right now" she said still not looking me in the eye.

"Stop the bullshit Emilia I know that you're lying"

"I'm not lying. Logan and I spend a lot of time together ever since he came back. I haven't seen him in over a year and he wants to spend as much time with me as he can before he has to go back"

"I understand that you want to spend time with your only brother and that you can't spend every second of your life with me but not even a text Emilia? You can't seriously think that I believe you when you say that everything's alright because it clearly isn't" I said and my desperation became clear in the way I spoke.

Before she could speak another word I saw Logan storming into the diner, heading straight towards us in an abnormal speed. Emilia saw my eyes widen and turned around just to see her enraged brother. When she looked at me I saw that panic was written all over her face which proved my mother's theory to be true. I'm pretty sure that not everything was going well between Logan and Emilia.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Logan asked as he reached our booth. He didn't give her any time to answer though before he forcefully grabbed her arm and tried to drag her out the diner. I was quick to stand up in front of Emilia so that he couldn't drag her any further.

"Get into the car Emilia" Logan said not looking at her because he was busy looking up into my eyes since I was a few inches taller, thanks to my dad's large built.

"She's not going anywhere" I replied holding her back when I sensed that she was about to leave.

"Isaac it' fine really. I wanted to go anyway" she said in a quiet voice and my heart broke at the sound of her weak voice. And I did the worst thing that I could've probably done in that situation because I let her go and simply watched as she left the diner. When she was out of sight I drew my attention back to Logan who was still staring at me.

"Haven't I told you to stay the fuck away from her?" Logan asked as he took one step towards me, trying to look dangerous which didn't work. I lost any type of respect for him because of the way he treated Emilia in front of me and everyone else in the diner.

"One thing you should know is that I'm not scared of people like you. You may think that you're string and all and that you can beat me but I'll tell you now that you wouldn't be able to. Emilia means more to me than she ever did to you and I wouldn't mind fighting over her" I replied as I looked down on him.

He didn't answer me. He only stayed for a few seconds before he stormed out of the diner as fast as he stormed in. I saw him getting into the car that Emilia was probably in too and they drove off.

I let my eyes travel across the diner just to see everyone stare at me with wide eyes.

"What the fuck is your problem? If you care so much about what just happened then why the hell didn't you stand up to help this poor woman who is obviously being abused?" I shouted and everyone quickly looked away as if they were not staring in the first place. I hate humans.

"Isaac you gotta follow them. I don't have a good feeling about this since I've never seen Logan this angry. I don't have time to go to her apartment because I have shift in 10 minutes but can you please go? I'm really worried for Emilia. I tried to stop her from getting into the car but she wouldn't listen to me" Myra said as she came running towards me.

I nodded and quickly ran home without any food and I mentally cursed myself for not taking the car towards the diner because if I had one of my cars with me I would have been at Emilia's apartment way quicker. That's what you get for trying to save the environment.
