Chapter 668
When There Is Nothing Left But Love
I couldnât help but sigh. After looking at Armond, who was on the phone, I handed the bag to Nora and
said, âAlright, Iâll go get it. Wait here for me.â
âWow! Thank you, Scarlett.â A joyful smile spread across her face.
Armond spoke into the phone with a low grunt. âIâve taken the goods and handed them over. Recently
youâ¦â
When he glanced back, he saw me and was taken aback. Then he quickly said into the phone, âIâll talk
to you later. Iâm hanging up now.â
After that, he turned to me and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
I was a little embarrassed. All this while I was staying at his place and being a burden to him. Right
now, I was really pushing my luck by asking him to lend me some money.
But Iâve already made a promise. I couldnât return empty-handed now.
After some thought, I said, âMr. Murphy, can I borrow some money from you, please? My friends would
like to buy some stuff to bring home to their family members.â
He was stunned for a moment, but he smiled and replied, âSure.â
From his pocket, he whipped out a black card and said, âHere you go. Thereâs no credit limit.â
I looked at the card in his hand and felt a little confused. âThatâs too much. All I need is just a few
thousand. Iâ¦â
âDonât think too much of it. I only have this card on me,â he said as he looked at me indifferently.
I was surprised, but I reached out and took the black card from him. Sighing inwardly, I said, âI can
never understand the rich.â
Some of the women lost themselves with the card. They bought a lot of products after going around a
dozen of the branded stores in the airport.
Fortunately, they managed to control their shopping impulse. That was only because they were in a
hurry to make it through security checks to board the plane.
At the security checkpoint, I rummaged through my bag for a long time and realized that my air ticket
and entry letter were lost.
The paperwork that Armond had spent an effort to get for me was completely lost.
âWasnât it in your bag just now? I watched you put it in the bag. Itâs impossible for you to lose it.â Nora
took the bag from me and searched the bag again. She couldnât find the air ticket and letter in the bag
either.
Nora pondered for a moment and said, âI was holding the bag just now, and I didnât overturn it. Could it
be that it was lost at one of the shops we visited just now?â
Tabitha grew anxious. Looking at the time, she said, âWe only have half an hour left. This is a big
airport, and itâll take us a while to get to the boarding gate. If we delay anymore, we might miss the
plane.â
Laurel nodded and began to panic.
Tessa looked at me and said, âScarlett, why donât you continue to find the documents here by yourself,
and we will wait for you at the boarding gate?â
âNo way! What if she canât find it? Do you want to leave her here all by herself?â Nora said angrily.
I looked at the time. There was not enough time, and thatâs considering that we would need some time
to get to the boarding gate after passing through the security check.
After thinking about it for a while, I looked at them and said, âYou guys go ahead, go find the boarding
gate first. Iâll go back and look for the documents. It wonât be a problem.â
âButâ¦â Nora looked worried. âBut what if you canât find it? We wonât be able to come out once we go
in.â After a pause, she said, âHow about this? Iâll go with you to find it. Anyhow, Iâm not in a hurry to go
back. Iâll stay here to accompany you if we canât find it. Thereâs nothing much to do back home anyway,
so itâll be just like a few days of holiday over here.â
Tessa laughed. âI didnât know you have bonded so well with Scarlett. Are you using her to climb the
ladder because of her connections and family background?â
âYouâ¦â Nora fumed at Tessaâs ridiculous remark.
I stopped her and said, âItâs okay. Donât worry about me. Iâll be fine by myself.â
âIâll go with you,â Nora said stubbornly. She was a strong-willed person and would never allow anyone
to tell her what to do. After saying that, she took my hand and pulled me out.
I was helpless and I said nothing more.
I felt someone was following us, so I turned around to take a look. To my surprise, it was Armond tailing
after us. I said to him, âGo ahead to the boarding gate.â
He replied blandly, âNo. The plane might be delayed. No worries.â
âHow would you know that the plane will be delayed?â Nora asked. âYou donât own the airport.â
Armond smiled and said, âItâs going to pour soon. They will definitely delay the flight for safety reasons.â
Nora was stunned. She leaned closer to me and said softly in my ear, âI find Armond unfathomable. Are
all young rich men like that?â
âNot necessarily,â I said with a laugh.
After searching through a few shops, we still couldnât find it. Nora started to panic and said, âI carried
your bag properly just now. Thereâs no way I could have dropped it.â
She paused and was deep in thought. Then she said, âLetâs search again.â
I stopped her and said, âForget it. I probably left it in the villa or dropped it somewhere. Why donât you
join back the girls? Iâll go and prepare for the paperwork again.â
