5.
Her Stain
Siya
Siya smiled as her brother cleared her entry in the palace, taking care of her protectively not letting her speak a word during the protocols. Nishant's face was serious, as he got his sister inside the palace. As soon as they reached inside the palace, Siya felt enchanted.
The high ceilings of the palace, were drawn with inscriptions and carvings. The faint humming of classical music in the background, the creame walls and pillars, with portraits lining the walls. When Siya's eyes found the chandelier her eyes widened seeing it. A huge chandelier hung from the dome shaped ceiling of the palace, with thousands of little crystals that shimmered. Huge grey curtains hung by the large windows with french doors.
Siya felt her mouth stare agape at all the splendor of the royal family. She could only imagine the amount of hardwork it required to maintain it. Suddenly a spark of excitement took over her, all of it, it was hers to decorate as she wished for.
For one evening, she had the right over all of these beautiful walls, pillars and the huge party hall. Such an amazing piece of architecture, it was worthy of the best. It almost made her heart clench at the thought of not doing justice to this beauty.
Siya smiled, this will definitely be amazing.
When she turned around she saw her brother commanding the staff. "Ms. Siya should face no problems, Mr. Dhiraj." The said man nodded almost desperately before rushing towards Siya with files in his hands. Siya's eyes widened, going through so many files would take hours itself.
Mr. Dhiraj spoke up, "Ms. Sharma, these are the files regarding the event, and the list of the guests."
When Siya scanned through the first few files, all of them being an endless list of guests she was surprised. Has half the world population decided to attend the Chauhan's festival?
Still Siya smiled at Dhiraj, "Mr. Dhiraj, if you wouldn't mind could you do me a favor?" The poor Assistant that had been in a desperate hurry to finish his work so that his boss wouldn't get a chance to finish him, stopped. "Yes, Ms. Sharma?"
Siya handed him the files, "Please could you give me a detailed file, marking the guests in groups such as: Relatives, Friends, Acquaintances, Business partners and Paparazzi?" Mr. Dhiraj looked at her and nodded, taking the file of the guests with himself.
Despite the huge number or guests, Siya was sure that the hall was still way too spacious. Soon she started arranging everything, when her eyes fell on the curtains she frowned. "Hari, what is this?" She complained to one of the servant reading the name tag on his chest. He looked at her confused, "What, Ma'am?"
She pursed her lips, shaking her head in disapproval. "Grey is a modernised colour, using of those tones cools down the palace wall's splendor." She concluded, "They don't compliment the architecture on the walls neither leave a strong impression, please change it to if possible royal blue."
She spoke after seeing the decorations and the colours of the flowers. Most of the decorations were done with roses and orchids, if red curtains were used, they would be hidden, and any other colour wouldn't highlight the walls as much as Royal or navy blue.
"Ms. Sharma." One of the people working with her came forward with a desperate face, "We couldn't get the musical albums for the pieces that Raani Sa wanted for the party to be played."
"Aren't there going to be musicians as stated?" The man shook his head, "They will be there, but the back up musicals are still required that Raani Sa had asked for."
Siya raised an eyebrow, "Classical music?" The man nodded, "Shouldn't that be available on YouTube?" He nodded, hesitantly, "They are, but we can't directly play from YouTube." Siya laughed, "Ofcourse not silly, We download the music, convert it into MP3 format, and then play it."
"Please get me a computer and a pendrive please." Siya requested, and continued instructing people on the decorations whilst the man got her the essentials she asked for. Later on, Siya turned on the web browser downloading music using websites, making the man hesitate. "Ms. Sharma, is..., This alright to do?"
Siya nodded, still focusing on doing her job. "Ofcourse it is, this is the exact piece played by the orignal artist. And they still happen to be played in background, this will do."
Instructing the man on how to download music online, Siya went away for checking up the food and seating arrangements. Arranging people according to their relations they held with the Chauhan family.
Siya then checked over the dancers, musicians and waiters as well as lightings. She ran Throughout the palace with an earpiece, as she instructed the people. "Yes, in the south western wing. Please pull up the flowers a bit higher to match with the others. Yeah that's enough."
She frowned, "Why are the lights not as bright in western counter?"
Before Siya realised, it was already 5 pm and she felt a pat on her shoulder. Turning around, her eyes found those of a man, unknown to her. She politely asked, "Yes?"
The man smiled dashingly, dressed in a blue sherwani. His hair slightly gelled back, and looking as handsome as ever he questioned, "Siya Sharma?"
Siya looked confused before she nodded, "Yeah?" The man smiled wider, thrusting his hand out, "Ranveer Singh, Indar's friend."
Realisation dawned on Siya, as she smiled brightly shaking his hand, "Siya, your friend's younger sister." Ranveer laughed loudly, as he teased, "Oh he wouldn't shut up about you trust me." Siya's eyes widened, and a blush rose on her cheeks and she looked away. What did that idiot tell him about me that he is laughing just seeing me?
Ranveer gazed at Siya softly, smiling. "You really are beautiful, Siya." Siya smiled awkwardly, nodding, "Thank you, Mr. Ranveer."
She tried to pull her hand away, when he didn't leave her hand after a good minute. He laughed carelessly, "Oh, no it's fine. Please don't be so formal. Ranveer is fine as well."
Siya smiled, nodding as she spoke up with a slight irritation. "My hand." Ranveer looked at her surprised, "huh?" She smiled tightly, "Leave my hand please."
Hearing her words, he suddenly let her hand go Siya was quick to cross her hands behind her back as he laughed embarrassed, "Ah, I am sorry I didn't notice."
Siya nodded uncomfortably, before she quickly took off her earpiece and handed it to him, hiding her discomfort at his continuous stare. She spoke up, "I'll take my leave, then."
Ranveer looked startled, "So soon?" Siya shrugged, "Yeah, I was only to cover until you took over. I don't see a point in staying now that my work is done." She tried taking a leave when much to her dismay, Ranveer stopped her again, "No! Siya! Wait!"
Siya squinted her eyes in irritation, before she turned around with a smile. "Yes?" Ranveer scratched his head, "Would you mind explaining me what you had done till yet so I could take over without confusions?" He requested, still staring at her sheepishly. "It will take only about 30 minutes more, I promise."
Siya hesitated, before nodding. "Alright." Ranveer lit up, as he motioned ahead, "Let's start then." For the next 30 minutes, Siya detailed out everything she did, and discussed over what changes could be made. Double checking everything, Siya nodded finally looking at her watch.
Her lips tugged up seeing the time, she spoke up almost relieved, "I should get going now, Ranveer. Its already way too late." Ranveer pouted, "Hey, Siya come on we have met for the first time, at least treat me like a friend."
Siya felt uncomfortable, and she shook her head. She quickly clarified, "It's nothing like that, Ranveer Bhai. I am just getting really late." And before Ranveer could even speak another word, she had already skipped away. As soon as she walked out of the hall, She called her brother to pick her up. she sighed relieved.
Finally free.
