Chapter 20

18.

Her Stain

Scared and her head hung low, Siya staggered in the house tears still continuously leaving her eyes. She felt like a shameless whore with no self respect. Not only I hoarded gifts like a gold digger but even after so much happened I still sat in his car shamelessly.

Yuvraaj who trailed behind her, gazing at her with concern as she wiped the tears subtly. Throughout the ride he kept blaming himself, for siya kept on sniffling. Has she even eaten something?

He didn't realise it was when she started affecting him so much. For the first two nights after that meeting he had just kept on reading all the little information about her over and over until he felt as if he could repeat it without even looking at it.

He read her over and over as if memorising his favourite poetry, as if he wouldn't then he wouldn't be able to breath. Finally when he woke up, his eyes somehow craved that smile and laughter that he had missed that night. Somehow, she had decided to thread on the thin line of his heart, tangling herself and was a part bound to his heart by a string that only grew stronger with every second that passed.

When seeing her there in the market all alone, and still looking at all the books but grabbing none? He never remembered Siya like that, and as she cried he had understood that somehow she was searching for him. He understood that his gift had ruined her mood somehow, else why would she cry when her face always glowed of happiness?

Yuvraaj sighed in regret, suffocation surrounding him as he stared at her crying. He would have rathered he stopped breathing rather than seeing her like this.

Noises were heard from the living room of their house, as her parents cried and her brothers were holding their head defeated. Indar having his head in his hands, desperation etched on his face and Nishant continuously making calls. Suhani and Disha Bhabhi sitting in a corner, holding their tears. Disha Bhabhi spoke up, tearfully, "I-i shouldn't have said such things, what if something happens to our Siya?"

Nishant who looked as if he had lost his head glared at her nodding with a clenched jaw as he gritted out, "Yes, you shouldn't have."

Disha felt her tears leaving her eyes but Nishant ignored his wife's cries as Suhani held on to her. Nishant grabbed his head in frustration as he yelled, "What the fuck were you all thinking, interrogating Siya like that?!"

His eyes almost maddening, he grabbed Indar by his collar, "Tu toh Bhai tha na uska? Tujhe nahi samajh aaya, Zyada ho Raha hai?" He angrily demanded.

His little sister, he worried where she would be, if she had even eaten anything. He burst out, "Love marriage toh humari bhi thi na, Maa? Aisa kya muh kala ho gaya aapka ki uss bechari ko itna rula diya?!"

He tried to take in calming breaths, everyone in the family knew Nishant had always been the one who cared and doted for Siya the most. He felt angry at himself, at his stupidity of trusting his brother and wife with his little sister. Now God knows where she was, how she was.

A thousand negative thoughts bombarded his brains, and he exhaled trying to contain his anger as he once again lifted his phone for arranging a call. Two minutes, before he suddenly threw his phone agressively, holding his head. Aaradhya stared at her son tearfully, "B-beta..., kya hua?"

Hearing her words, he lifted his face up glaring, he sarcastically spoke up, "Kya hua? Kya hua?"

"Chhoti gayab hai, Yeh hua!"

"Nahi mil Rahi meri behen, kahi pe bhi! Mil gayi kaleje ko thandak ab aap sabke?!" He blinked his eyes continuously, blinking back the tears that threatened to drown his vision.

Siya on the other hand was frozen horrified seeing her family. Seeing her father so pale and weak, with tears in his eyes, Seeing her mother look so broken. Seeing her Nishant Bhai screaming like crazy, her Indar Bhai look so defeated and their wives in a corner. It was as if the picture of a happy family that she had painted was shattered.

Her Nishant Bhai raised his voice at their mother making her flinch as more tears suddenly filled her eyes. What had happened to her family?

She would have liked it more if she had died, than seeing them so broken apart from each other.

It was as if her family was a broken vase, with pieces so far apart that she feared she wouldn't be able to collect the pieces and stick them back together. She screamed, "Bhai!"

She ran towards her brother, whose eyes snapped towards her shocked. Relief, hurt, anger, worry and guilt all apparent on his face when he finally saw his sister safe and sound. Siya pushed him away from their mother, standing in between them.

Nishant's eyes held hurt seeing a furious look on her face, as Siya screeched. "How dare you, Bhai?! Its Maa, you are talking to!"

He looked at his little sister who stood protectively infront of their mother, glaring at him in disbelief. A whisper left his lips, "Chhoti?"

The emotions in his voice made her feel weak, but she didn't move. She didn't dare to.

She pushed him further crying, "What are you doing, huh? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Seeing her family breaking apart, in her pain Siya didn't realise how she was only creating more scars that might never heal. "Maa hain woh humari! You are hurting our Maa!"

Hearing her words, Nishant quickly shook his head his eyes widening, "N-no, Siya I was not---"

"Don't lie! I saw you screaming at her!" Siya cried harder, how was it that life was like a sand slipping from her hand? She tried to collect as much of it as she wanted but they slipped from her fingers and at the end she was left with almost nothing.

How could this happen? She wanted everything go back to the normal, as it was. She held her head screaming, almost crazy. "Please go back to how we were," she begged her family. "Maa, Papa it's my fault please don't fight. Bhai..., don't scream at them! They are our f-family."

Indar was the one who stood up, grabbing his little sister by her arms and embracing her. Nishant who still seemed shocked stood frozen in guilt staring at his little sister who seemed to have lost her mind. Guilt ate her up, Seeing how her family seemed to have been broken apart because of her.

Siya couldn't handle herself like this, she never could. Her brain could not register the fact that her life had turned upside down over the span of an evening.

Indar who understood her thoughts, embraced her patting her back as she cried heavily. He could be the baddest brother alive, but that didn't mean he didn't love his Siya. "Bas, chhoti, bas...shant."

He comfortingly whispered in her ears, as she cried, "I have no one in my life Bhai!" Hugging her brother she tried to explain herself clean hoping it would make everything better again. "I only care about you all, No one else, B-bhai!"

Indar nodded, as he slowly petted her hair he spoke up, "I know, chhoti. Shaant ho ja, I know. We trust you." Hearing his words, her body shook even more with sobs and he stared at his sister with pity. He looked at Nishant, muttering. "I'll take her to her room, she must be tired."

He pulled her out of the room, as she sobbed on his shoulder. It was time elders sat and had their conversation. He froze seeing Yuvraaj in the hallway, who was silently looking at every thing. He bowed at him, "Hukum?"

Yuvraaj nodded acknowledging him, his eyes on Siya's crying form he spoke up, "I dropped her off. I wanted to discuss something." Indar looked at him gratefully, as he spoke up, "Please take a seat, Rana Sa." His eyes on his inconsolable sister, he spoke up, " I'll be joining you all in the living room shortly."

Indar took Siya up the stairs.

Yuvraaj stared at her family, straightening his back.

When he saw Siya, he had thought of nothing but his attraction towards her. Even until the date he had never thought of more than the moment. She was there, he was there to enjoy her smile, to make her smile but what then?

Today when he saw her, her eyes filled with tears of hurt that he had bestowed her through anonymous actions. It was only then that he realised, he didn't like giving her those gifts anonymously, didn't like having to hide himself, didn't like making her feel so low of herself. He didn't like any of it. With a serious expression he entered the room, he knew what could be the consequences of his actions. He knew whatever his decisions were at the moment were what would make his tommorow. Make her tommorow.

Suddenly it was all very clear to Yuvraaj. All those what ifs, what thens fading in the background, as a question stepped up. Was he ready to let her go forever? Clear up his faults, take his leave?

No. Yuvraaj decided as he walked in.

He had found her, and he was keeping her as his.
