Su Tang wanted to stay and accompany her, but because of Shi Man’s insistence, she could only leave with an umbrella.

In a few minutes, only Shi Man was left in the classroom.

The heavy rain outside the window pounded on the window, making the atmosphere in the classroom even gloomier.

As Shi Man was still around, the classroom was not locked today. Therefore, when Shi Man felt the commotion at the door, her first reaction was that Shi Mu had come to pick her up after he was done. However, she sniffed slightly and sensed something amiss.

Her cold gaze shot towards the door, scaring the man standing carefully in front of the classroom.

“Who are you?” Shi Man frowned at him and closed the file containing her notes. Her professionalism had already made her habitually enter a vigilant state. As long as the other party did anything unfavorable to her, she would immediately rush up and end his life without hesitation.

“I-I don’t mean any harm.” The man stammered and waved his hand as if he felt very embarrassed. He swallowed and coughed dryly. He straightened the folds of his shirt and said seriously, “My name is Yuan Yi. I’ve been observing you for a long time and want to be friends with you.”

Shi Man touched her forehead speechlessly and replied coldly, “Oh.” Then, she continued to look down at her notes.

Yuan Yi was left at the door by her and walked into the classroom at a loss. When he was about to approach Shi Man, he stopped and asked tentatively, “Do you have a boyfriend?”

“No,” Shi Man replied without looking up.

Yuan Yi was overjoyed. Knowing that she really had nothing to do with Yi Zheng, he sat happily in Su Tang’s seat. Just as he was about to say something, Shi Man’s originally casual gaze suddenly became sharp, cutting into his flesh like a knife.

He immediately stood up and looked at her in a daze.

“Oh, oh, oh!” Yuan Yi nodded in understanding and sat in front of Shi Man obediently. He flipped the chair and sat opposite her. “Then I can sit here, right?”

Yuan Yi rubbed his hands excitedly as if he had been pardoned. “Why aren’t you home yet? Don’t you have an umbrella? I can lend you mine or I can send you back with an umbrella.”

Shi Man opened her eyes and looked at him. “Waiting for my brother.”

“I see!” Yuan Yi looked into her sharp eyes in a daze.

In the past, he had felt that Shi Man was beautiful. Now that he had seen her up close, he felt that she was much more heroic than ordinary female students. It was difficult to look away.

“Then do you and your brother have an umbrella? You can use mine. It’s raining so heavily outside. Don’t catch a cold.” Yuan Yi continued to search for a topic. He did not feel awkward. Instead, he enjoyed being alone with Shi Man.

With someone talking noisily in her ear, Shi Man could only put away her notes and look up at him coldly. Suddenly, she had an evil thought and smiled playfully. “If you give me the umbrella, how are you going back?”

“I’m a man. It’s fine to be drenched in the rain!” As Yuan Yi spoke, he took out an umbrella from his bag and stuffed it into Shi Man’s hand. “Take it and use it. Go home early. It’s not safe for a girl to be alone in school. If your brother can’t pick you up in time, I can send you back.”

“Will I be safe with you?” Shi Man raised her eyebrows and continued to tease him.

Yuan Yi suddenly blushed for a moment, then coughed dryly and nodded. “It’s safe. I’m not a bad person, and I don’t have any ill intentions toward you. I’m here to become good friends with you.”

He said it sincerely. Any innocent girl would probably be touched.

However, what Shi Man was skeptical about the most was the so-called pure friendship between men and women.

She didn’t believe in kindness for no reason. She believed that there were bad intentions behind solicitousness.

However, she did not intend to expose Yuan Yi. Instead, she pretended to be touched and smiled. “Is that so? Then you’re really a good person. I’ll accept this umbrella. How can I return it to you tomorrow?”

“I’ll come and get it myself tomorrow, okay?” Yuan Yi probed with a pitiful expression as if he was afraid that Shi Man would refuse.

Unexpectedly, Shi Man nodded in agreement. “Then come and get it after school tomorrow.”

“Alright!” Yuan Yi nodded excitedly and could not help but ask, “Then can we be considered friends now?”

“What’s the benefit of being friends?” Shi Man looked at him with a faint smile, guessing if he was after the power of the Shi family or something else he shouldn’t have hoped for.

Yuan Yi smiled honestly and said, “The advantage is that you’ll have another boyfriend by your side.”

With that, he stole a glance at Shi Man’s expression and blinked as he added, “I made a slip. I mean a male friend.”

“Alright, I’ll leave first. Remember to use the umbrella.” Yuan Yi stood up and walked out of the classroom, brushing past Shi Mu, who had rushed over to pick up his sister.
