2. GREY EYES, BEAUTIFUL SKIES
Matters Of The Heart ✔
Slipping into a pair of blue jeans and blue button up shirt, I put on my white converse and climb down the stairs.
"Morning mom, dad." I greet taking an apple from the basket placed on the counter.
"Morning kiddo." dad greets back while mom stays quiet.
"Ma, I'm sorry. I promise I will come home early from now onwards." I apologise getting on my knees and extending the bitten apple in front of her.
She shakes her head and takes the apple before throwing it in the trash can.
I gasp dramatically, "You threw my peace offering away? Just like that?" I fake sniffle.
"Oh, stop it you." she rolls her eyes making me grin.
I stand up and peck her cheek. She slaps my arm playfully and hands me my plate of breakfast.
"First day of senior year, how do you feel?" dad asks.
"Same old." I shrug.
"Make me proud." he pats my shoulder.
"Have I ever done anything less than that?" I wink and bid them goodbye.
Igniting the engine of my black Ford Mustang, I make my way towards the school I have been studying in since Sophomore year.
My phone lights up and I look down to see Anwyll's number flashing on the screen, I grin and pick up.
"Where you at?" he asks as soon as I answer.
"Well, hello to you too. I'm fine, thanks for asking." I reply rolling my eyes.
"Cut the sarcasm, asshole." he huffs.
"On my way." I say and hang up.
Anwyll, Isaac and Finn have been my best friends ever since I came back from Italy. And we always reach school at the same time.
When I reach school premises, I see a car already parked in my spot and a girl walking at a little distance from it.
I get out and see Anwyll's and Isaac's car rolling in the empty spots next to mine.
Boys and girls were whispering about how she must be new and has parked in my designated space. I ignore their whispers as I follow the girl who's walking without a care in the world.
I latch my hand around her wrist and turn her around with more force than necessary because the next second, I hear a wince. She steps back after a second while rubbing her nose.
I can't see her face as she's still looking down so I decide to speak, "You parked in the wrong space, princess."
She looks up and her lips part. Her eyes assess my face and stops at mine. My eyes widen as I look at her angelic face.
Bellissima.
Those eyes.
Big grey eyes.
I blink as she begins to speak, "I-I'm so sorry. I am new and had no idea that people had reserved parking spots here." her melodious voice nearly whispers.
"I'll move." she says when I don't speak.
Could it be her?
No. So many people have grey eyes.
But hers were exquisite.
It's impossible. She's in another school.
It isn't until she walks past me that I realise I have been rooted to the same spot for more than two minutes. I clear my throat and Anwyll pats my back.
"Let me park your car, your highness." Isaac jokes and snatches the keys from me.
"Beautiful, isn't she?" Finn asks.
I roll my eyes at him and look at Anwyll who's busy observing me. A smirk creeps up his lips and I look away before he has a chance to say some dumb shit.
My eyes follow her until she disappears inside the information office.
"Stop eye fucking her." Isaac rolls his eyes when he comes back inside.
"I ain't doing that, fucker." I reply.
"Merely looking." I add making the trio chuckle.
I see Lillian waiting outside the door and when that girl comes out, Lillian says something resulting in a loud gasp from her.
They both talk a bit before walking in the opposite hallway. As if feeling my stare, she turns around and our eyes connect.
The world stops for a split second but then she looks away and I am dragged back to the reality when I hear Anwyll's voice.
"You know her?" he questions.
"Her eyes." I say and gulp. "Her eyes are extremely familiar. They're exactly like her eyes."
"Do you know her name?" Finn asks.
I shake my head in negative.
"We'll find out." he shrugs and we walk to our first lesson together which is English.
I open the door and find her sitting in the corner gazing out of the window.
We settle in our usual backseats and I take the one behind her.
I poke her and she turns around with a cute little pout sitting on her lips.
"What's your name, bella?" I ask.
"My name is not Bella." she replies looking at me in confusion.
"He called you beautiful." Anwyll supplies.
Her mouth forms an 'o' and a faint tint of red adorns her cheeks. But before I can ask her again, Mr. Smith enters the class.
The rest of the lecture flows smoothly and she's almost in all of my classes so far. Lunch time rolls up and we sit at our usual table in the center of the cafeteria. We were discussing football when Primrose came and sat on my lap. My jaw ticked and I pushed her away.
"You and I aren't together." I say when I look at her offended expressions.
"Baby, you always come back to me." she purrs disgustingly making me cringe inwardly.
I was about to reply when I saw that mystery girl passing by our table. Primrose must have seen it because the next second, she sticks her foot out and the girl stumbles dropping her lunch tray.
She catches herself in time and I shoot up from my seat in an instant, glaring at Primrose who's standing with the most innocent expression.
The girl turns around and I see something similar to hate flash in her eyes before she covers it with a mask of indifference.
"You did it on purpose." she states quietly.
"Why would I? I was sitting a good five inches away from you." Primrose denies.
The cafeteria is as silent as a dead lamb right now.
"Look where your foot is right now." the girl retorts.
True to her statement, Primrose's foot was sticking out. She forgot to pull her leg back.
Stupido raggazza.
The boys look at me as if gauging my reaction and in that exact moment the door opens and in walks our coordinator, Mrs. Stevenson.
"What is going on here?" she asks sternly.
Primrose opens her mouth but the other girl beats her to it and starts speaking.
"This girl here purposely stuck her foot out in hopes to makes me fall. I dropped my lunch." she states casually.
I smirk as I look at a gaping Primrose and her minions who are sitting across from our table.
"She's lying." Primrose gasps.
"There are cameras in here to prove my lie." the girl says with a hard expression.
"I am so sorry, child. I'll make sure it never happens again." Mrs. Stevenson says.
"You, meet me in my office after lunch." she points an accusing finger in Primrose's direction while glaring at her.
Primrose's nostrils flare in anger and she takes a few bills out of her wallet before throwing them in the girl's face as soon as the coordinator leaves.
The girl flinches back but quickly composes herself.
"Here. Buy yourself another lunch." Primrose spits out.
The girl scoffs and steps over the money that is scattered on the floor and comes face to face with Primrose, "I don't need your money, barbie. Pretty sure have more than you. Use this money to get some ethical education. Certainly, daddy can't buy manners, can he?" she smiles sweetly and turns around to walk to where Lillian is sitting, recording the whole scene on her phone.
My smirk widens as I see her plopping on the chair with a loud huff. The people in the cafeteria are cheering for her but she's sitting with her back to them.
Primrose and her minions stomps out of the cafeteria and our table erupts in laughter.
The mystery girl and I share every class but I miss her name everytime due to being late in the class.
Some luck I have.
When the school is over, we walk out and lean against my car talking about the upcoming match of football next week.
"Hey man, isn't that Ezra's car?" Finn asks.
I turn my head in the direction he's pointing and much to my surprise, it is Ezra's red Camaro. I grin widely in the excitement of seeing my brother.
I start to walk towards him and see him getting out of the car. Something flashes past me almost knocking me out in the process.
"Angel." Ezra calls happily with a grin and the girl jumps in his arms.
He spins her around and she giggles, hugging him as if her life depends on it.
How does he know her?
I reach near his car and his eyes snaps to mine. He brings her to the ground and she hugs him even tighter.
"I missed you." she mumbles in his chest.
I raise a brow at him and he looks at me as if I have grown two heads.
"I missed you too, little one." he says and kisses her forehead.
"I am not talking to you. Its been a year since you last saw me." she moves away and crosses her arms above her chest.
"I'm sorry. College's been crazy." he tells her.
He steps forward and hugs me, "How you been, little brother?" he asks.
We hear a gasp and I pull away looking at the girl whose face just paled.
"Don't tell me you didn't recognise each other?" Ezra asks looking between us.
I look at Ezra then at the girl and back at Ezra.
"I-"
"Nick, meet Eliza." Ezra introduces knocking the breath out of my lungs.
