Chapter 414
Wife
Sydney pulled Rosalie into the car.
Rosalie was very silent as she sat in the shotgun seat. She even forgot to buckle her safety belt. Thankfully, Sydney enjoyed doing so for her and had done it before driving.
Sydney drove on for a few seconds in silence. She glanced at Rosalie a few times, worried. Finally, she couldnât hold herself back and murmured, âI know I was wrong to bring you there. I didnât expect Theo toâ¦â
âMom,â Rosalie cut her off. âThis has nothing to do with you. You didnât want this to happen, either. Itâs alright, Iâve gotten used to it.â
The calmness on Rosalieâs face told Sydney that she had been hurt countless times.
Many times, people become numb not because they were born heartless, but because they had gone through so much. They knew they couldnât change anything, and were helpless.
Sydney thought about it before concluding, âDonât tell him about your pregnancy. I take back what I said before, because I suddenly feel like he doesnât deserve to know.â
Rosalieâs heart throbbed with pain. âMom, do you really think so?â
Sydney nodded. âHeâs not fit to be a father. Youâll find a better man than him. Donât worry about the child being fatherless.â
Rosalie chuckled weakly. âIâm fine with not finding another man. Things are fine the way they are now. Iâll take care of my own baby.â
More importantly, she didnât want to get herself hurt again. She didnât want her child to get hurt, too.
âThatâs true,â Sydney said. âThat depends entirely on what you want. Just donât mistreat yourself. Youâre still young and have all the time in the world. More importantly, you have something that many donât.â
Rosalie nodded. âYeah.â
She caressed her belly. âI have my baby. As long as heâs with me, Iâm fearless.â
Sydney furrowed her brows. âI didnât mean the baby. Who doesnât have a baby? Even pigs have babies. Itâs nothing to be proud of.â
Rosalie frowned. âSo what were you referring to?â
âI was referring to the money in your account. Donât forget that youâre a rich woman right now.â
Realization dawned upon Rosalie. âI see. Youâre right. At the very least, I donât need to worry about my finances. Otherwise, itâd only make things worse.â
âYes. Instead of making things

worse, youâre in a pretty good state right now,â Sydney said. âIâm afraid this is the only good thing that Theodore has done for you. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
The mention of Theodore made Rosalieâs eyes dim. Any mention of his name made dark clouds gather above her, and she wished he would never appear in her life ever again. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
Sydney said nothing further, and sent Rosalie back home. She stopped the car at the entrance.
Rosalie unbuckled her safety belt. âMom, do you want to come upstairs?â
âNo need, go back and have a good rest.â
Rosalie nodded. âThanks, Mom.â
âDonât mention it. Thereâs nothing to thank me for. Go back home.â
Sydney was usually a serious person, but there were times when her tenderness shone through. Rosalie opened the door, and left the car. After seeing Sydney drive off, she turned around and walked toward her district. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
As she walked on, she saw a figure pacing back and forth at the entrance of her district.
Rosalie felt joy in her heart when she saw the figure, and hastened her speed. âSeb!â
Sebastian heard her voice, and turned around with a smile.
Rosalie stood before him, all sorrow washed away. âYouâre here! Why didnât you head up?â
âYou werenât home yet, so I waited for you here,â Sebastian said.
