Chapter 395
Wife
Rosalie married Theodore for love and not interest, but they still got divorced.
So, how was one supposed to maintain a marriage? Neither love nor interests worked. It was no wonder that more and more people were reluctant to get married, preferring to live alone for the sake of freedom and ease.
Rosalie took a deep breath, and tried hard to compose herself before asking, âSebastian is your son. Donât you care about his happiness at all?â âFrom what youâre saying, you want him to be happy? Then tell me, what should I do to make him happy?â Geoffrey asked.
âLet him choose for himself,â she said. âHe has the right to choose the woman he wants. His marriage should be his decision, regardless of the outcome. Itâs his choice, not something imposed on him by others.â
Geoffrey slowly straightened his sleeves. âI see. Seems like you really care about him. Itâs a pityâ¦â
He sighed.
âPity about what?â Rosalie asked.
Before Geoffrey could answer, Sydney returned. âWhat are you two talking about?â
Geoffrey smiled. âNothing much. We were just talking about how youâre a great mother-in-law. You treat your daughter-in-law so well even after the divorce. Itâs like youâre still family.â
âChairman Carter, weâve met and had lunch. Now, Rose and I will be leaving.â Sydney didnât want to stay there a second longer.
Rosalie stood up as well. She straightened out her clothes before following Sydney.
Geoffrey nodded. âIâll walk you out.â
âNo need. We can manage by ourselves. Please stay, Chairman Carter.â With that, Sydney turned around and glanced at Rosalie. âLetâs go.â
After getting into the car, Sydney asked, âAre you really just friends with his son?â
She sounded rather interrogative. As she always spoke coldly, it felt somewhat aggressive.
âYes,â Rosalie answered truthfully. âWeâre good friends.â
âJust good friends, and nothing else?â
âMom, Seb and I are really just good friends, nothing more.â
âNever slept together?â Sydney pressed.
Rosalie was stunned. âMom, why would you think that? Seb and I are innocent. We havenât done anything! Weâre just friends. His father is mistaken.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
âThen why would his father be mistaken? Isnât it because youâre too close with Sebastian?â
Rosalie frowned. âMom, I have a clear conscience. Nothing has happened between Seb and me. Weâre just friends.â
As soon as Rosalie finished speaking, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID-it was Sebastian.
Rosalie answered the call. âHello.â
âRose, how are you now?â
âIâm fine, why?â Rosalie asked.
âI was worried about you,â Sebastian said. âEarlier on the phone, I think heard my fatherâs bodyguard. Did
