Chapter 386
Wife
âYou said that you wanted to call Rose, you silly,â Sydney said, not sure whether to laugh or cry.
Seeing Theodore right now both made her heart ache and gave her the urge to laugh out loud. He had it coming, really.
âOh, yes. I wanted to call Rose.â Theodore suddenly laughed, his pale and haggard but still handsome face suddenly filling with hope.
This time, he dialed the right number and finally called Rosalie. However, all he heard was the sound of the automated voice over the phone. âSorry, the number youâve dialed is unavailable. Please try again laterâ¦â
Theodore listened all the way till the automated voice message ended. The phone went back to standby mode, and fell from his hand to the couch with a plop.
He suddenly smiled bitterly and helplessly.
âI remember it now,â he said. âRose divorced me. Sheâs no longer my wife.â
He felt as though he had woken up from a dream, and realized a fact that he didnât want to realize.
Theodore was stunned with disbelief.
Sydney reminded him exasperatedly, âSilly boy, you have to be clear about the facts. Rose didnât divorce you. You divorced her, did you forget that? You were the one who insisted on the divorce.â
Her heart broke as she looked at her sonâs state right now, but she couldnât go against her conscience and defend him.
Theodore smirked self-derisively. âRight, I was the one who asked for the divorce. But isnât that a good idea? Rose doesnât love me, anyway.â
Theodore plopped on the sofa and hugged the cushion as he said in a trembling voice, âMom, she doesnât love me.â
âDid she say that herself?â Sydney asked.
Theodore nodded, looking like a lonesome and pitiful little child.
âShe said that she has never loved me over the past ten years. Since she couldnât fall in love with me even after ten years, what else can I do? Iâve already given her a divorce. Why did she have to block and ignore me? Why does she not even want to see me? I thought she just wanted a divorce, but now, I clearly see for myself that she hates me.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
Theodore shut his eyes in pain. âShe reallyâ¦hates me.â
The sorrow in his voice made Sydney raise her hand and pat his shoulder.
âYouâre really my silly boy. Rose
keeps trying to make us spend time with each other so we can talk things through and become closer, but the ones who really need to talk are the two of you, not the two of us. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
UMS
Sydney peeled the wet jacket off Theodoreâs body.
âYou two have never actually opened up to each other and talked things through, have you?â
âMany times,â Theodoreâs voice
slurred as he shut his eyes. âKissing

didnât work, hugging her didnât, either. She didnât let me hold her hands, and she kicked me aside the
moment we got divorced. Showe
horrible.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
Sydney was tickled pink by the pitiful look on Theodoreâs face as he grumbled.
He looked like an abandoned wife. Yet, he was the bastard who abandoned his wife.
She did pity Theodore, especially as his mother.
Even so, she couldnât hold back her laughter.
He was the one who insisted on the divorce. He had it coming. How did Rosalie become the bad guy in his version of the story?
If she didnât know the truth, she might have been misled into thinking that Rosalie was the one who insisted on divorcing him and abandoning her perfect husband and breaking his heart.
But the truth was the total opposite.
Theodore was the one who asked for the divorce so he could be with another woman. How did he become so indignant about it?
It was truly puzzling.
