Chapter 360
Wife
Theodore shut his eyes, and tried to control the fire burning in his heart.
âStop laughing,â he hissed.
His chest was almost bursting with anger.
Sydney coughed dryly, and said, âFine, Iâll stop laughing. I have no idea why Rose blocked you. Why donât I bring her along to our next meeting? I did ask Rose to come with me when I meet you. Thatâs a good chance for you to ask her.â
âIn that caseâ¦â Theodore said, âletâs meet tonight. Ask Rose along, too.â
âIâll call her later and ask if sheâs free,â Sydney promised.
âShe is free,â Theodore said. âShe doesnât need to work now, and she has lots of time on her hands. If she says sheâs not free, it must be an excuse. Donât let her have her way.â
The arrogance in Theodoreâs voice made Sydney furrow her brows.
âNo wonder she blocked you.â
âWhat?â Theodore furrowed his brows as well. âDo you know why she did it?â
Sydney sighed. âSon, itâs because sometimesâ¦youâre annoying.â
Theodore was stunned.
It was the first time in his entire life someone said something like that in his face and it came from his own mother, of all people.
âDo you really not know why?â Sydney said.
âYou think Rose is free right now just because she doesnât have work, and that she can go wherever you want her to.
âSince youâre so high and mighty, why would she bother with you? Are you the only one whoâs busy, while she has all the time in the world and with nothing else to do?
âThe only thing you know is that she doesnât have a full-time job, but how do you know what sheâs doing when you donât see her?
âHad you not seen it for yourself last night, would you have thought that she spent the whole day yesterday doing nothing, and simply washed up and went to sleep at night?â
Sydney spoke calmly; she wasnât fierce, nor was she scolding him. In turn, her calm tone silenced Theodore.
She waited patiently and didnât rush him for a response. Even over the phone, she could sense that Theodore was in a daze.
This was getting interesting.
After a long silence, Theodore finally said, âI didnât mean that.â
âReally?â Sydney challenged, doubtful. âDid you really not mean that?â
âYes, I said I didnât,â Theodore insisted.

âDonât talk about this anymore.â
âFine.â Sydney didnât press the matter further. âIâll ask her if sheâs free before calling you again.â
âOkay. Ask her quickly.â
âAlright, bye.â Sydney was about to hang up, when she suddenly thought of something. âOh, yes. Thereâs one thingâ¦â âWhat is it?â
âItâs about Rose searching for the problem with Regent Co.â
âWhatâs the matter? Is there an update? Or did she get herself in trouble?â he asked nervously.
âNot that, itâs justâ¦â
âJust what?â

Theodore nodded. âYouâll have to be proactive about it, then. Otherwise, she might go elsewhere.â
