Chapter 349
Wife
Before she could send the text, a call came in. It was a foreign-looking number.
Rosalie answered the call. âHello?â
A mature-sounding voice of a middle-aged man greeted her. âMs. Young, itâs me.â
The voice sounded very familiar, from someone she just heard today. It was clearly Sebastianâs father, Geoffrey.
Rosalieâs mind buzzed. âMr. Carter?â
Geoffreyâs voice sounded peaceful and courteous, a stark contrast from how cold he had sounded when talking to Sebastian.
Rosalie thought she must have heard him wrongly. Why did Sebastianâs father sound so calm and kind?
Geoffrey seemed to have sensed her surprise over his sudden call, and explained leisurely, âDonât worry. Iâm not calling to reprimand you.â
Doubtful, Rosalie asked, âHow may I help you, then?â
âIs Sebastian still with you?â
âHeâs left. The moment he received your call, he went off to work.â Then she added, âHeâs very hardworking and very outstanding, for that matter.â âIt seems you regard him highly,â Geoffrey said lightly. There was no sarcasm or anger in his voice, and it even sounded as though he was smiling. âYes,â Rosalie replied honestly. âHe is a man worthy of my high regard. You have a very outstanding son.â
âHahaâ¦â Geoffrey laughed.
Rosalie heard his hearty laughter, and found it difficult to imagine that this man was blowing his top just moments ago. The look on his face when he wanted to make a move on his own son was frighteningly fierce and vicious.
Yet right now, he sounded just like a kind elderly man. Was he just capricious, or was there another reason for this? âSeems like you really like my son,â Geoffrey concluded.

Rosalieâs heart leaped. Fearing he might misunderstand, she hurriedly explained things to him. âSebastian and Dare just good friends. Things between us are merely platonic.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
âIs that so? Merely platonic? You might not be aware of this, but heâs been slacking off at work recently because of a woman. When I yelled at him for it, he refused to tell me who that woman was. Ms. Young, youâre that woman, arenât you?â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
âMr. Carter, youâve misunderstood,â Rosalie said. âIâm not that woman. Iâm just friends with Sebastian. Please donât get the wrong idea.â
âIs that so? How do you know youâre not that woman?â
âBecause Sebastian told me himself that he fancied another woman.â
âOh, so whatâs her name?â
âPardon me,â Rosalie apologized. âI canât tell you that. Since Sebastian doesnât want you to know that, I naturally canât.â
She was also convinced Geoffrey would be able to find that out if he really wanted to.
âFine,â Geoffrey said, not wanting to put her in a difficult spot. âWhatever it is, itâs clear that you share a good relationship with my son.â
âMr. Carter, did you call me just to say these? If you have something else, please speak your mind.â
Since he made it clear he wasnât calling to reprimand her, Rosalie was curious as to why he was calling.
âAlright, Iâll cut straight to the chase. How did you get to know President Harper of Apex Bank?â
âIs that very important, sir? I have no obligation whatsoever to answer you.â
Geoffrey wasnât angry to hear it. âIâm just curious, and I need a favor from you.â
Rosalie chuckled. âMr. Carter, youâre a man with both power and status. Why would you need a favor from someone as significant as me? You must be joking.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
