Chapter 317
Wife
Rosalie tugged Sydneyâs sleeve and pulled at it, shaking her head profusely at her.
She mouthed, âAsk him when heâs free, and that you can wait.â
The corner of Sydneyâs mouth twitched. She coughed dryly, and put out the cigarette between her fingers.
âIn that case, when are you free? You canât possibly be busy all the time, can you?â
âIâm busy all the time.â
His heartless rejection made Sydneyâs brows furrow. A piercing pain shot through her chest. She could sense that Theodore didnât want to have a meal with her, or even see his own mother.
Before Rosalie could say anything further, Sydney decided that she would give it another shot. âAre you sure you arenât free? Not even for half an hour?â
âIâm sorry, no.â
Sydneyâs grip over her phone tightened, and she chuckled helplessly. âAlright, then. Go ahead and be busy. I wonât bother you anymore.â Sydney was about to hang up when Rosalie snatched the phone from her hand and said to the man on the line, âTheodore Spencer!â
Theodore was surprised to hear a familiar voice calling out his name. âRose, is that you?â
âYes, itâs me.â Rosalie said, âIâm with your mother.â
âWhat are you doing with her?â
âDonât bother with that. Why did you reject your motherâs invitation for a meal?â
âIâm not free.â
âAs if!â Rosalie said sternly. âDonât give me that! You have time to visit Cynthia, act so ridiculously, throw temper tantrums, and drag me back home in the middle of the nightâ¦but you donât have time for a meal with your mother? Who are you trying to kid?â
Sydney stared at Rosalie, wide-eyed and in disbelief. Never had she expected to see such a bold and unrestrained side of her daughter-in-law.
When Rosalie was berating Theodore, she sounded as if she were scolding a child.
Theodore seemed equally shocked by Rosalieâs words, and fell silent for a long time.

âWhy arenât you talking?â Rosalie said, her brows furrowed. âSay something!â
âDo you really want me to have a meal with her?â Theodore asked.
âDonât you want to?â
âI donât,â Theodore said coldly.
âTheo, donât throw a tantrum, alright? Donât you know what your heart wants?â Rosalie said in a huff. âI heard all that night, when you were talking in your sleep. You were crying out for your mom. Donât tell me you donât remember that happening.â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
âWhoâs crying out for Mom? Youâre babbling nonsense,â Theodore denied awkwardly.
âAm I? Or are you the one lying through your teeth? Donât you feel your conscience getting pricked?â
âRose, Iâ¦â
âTheo, Iâm giving you two options right now. You either decide on a date and time to have a meal with your mom and talk things through without fighting, or Iâll pretend to not know you and weâll cut all contact from now on. Since you can even be bothered to talk to your own mom, why bother keeping in contact with your ex-wife?â Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
âRose, thatâs two separate matters. I was justâ¦â
âJust what?â Rosalie cut him off. âYou have two options. Take your pick.â
Rosalie sounded autocratic, like a queen who wouldnât take no for an answer. Theodore gaped in astonishment at how overbearing she sounded. âIâ¦â he said with a flinch, âI choose the first one.â
