Chapter 114
Wife
Chapter 114
Rosalie was the best at soothing Rebecca. Every time Rosalie
comforted her, the old ladyâs anger would vanish.
âAlright, letâs eat first. I canât bear to see you go hungry,â she finally
said.
So, the two of them began eating by themselves.
âRose, try this fish with pickled vegetables. I know you love this, so I told the kitchen to make it spicyâjust the way you like it.â
âThank you, Grandma. Rosalie took a bite, and nodded repeatedly.â This is great!
âIf itâs good, eat more. Donât always accommodate Theo in the future. You love spicy food, but you do the same as him and donât eat spicy things. Itâs not like he has ever accommodated your taste.â
Even though the old lady didnât live with them, she still knew a thing or
two.
âGrandma, Theoâs good to me. Heâs just not the type to show everything outwardly,â
Rosalie didnât want Rebecca to be angry at Theodore. Rosalie seemed like the bond that held the family together.
Unbeknownst to them, Theodore was standing outside the dining room. He was just about to come in when he heard Rosalieâs words.
Should he feel ashamed? Was he really good to her?
âYes, Theo keeps everything to himself. You know, heâs a bit like his
father in some ways. He misjudges people easily. Sometimes, I canât help but be strict with him. I donât want him to make the same
mistakes as his father did, like messing things up for Sydneyâ¦â
âGrandma, what happened between Dad and Mom?â
Rosalie had never asked before, but today Rebecca brought it up, as if wanting to tell her.
Rebecca sighed. âItâs quite a ridiculous story. I donât even know where
to start.â
Seeing Rebeccaâs sigh, Rosalie said, âGrandma, is it okay to talk about it? Itâs okay if itâs not. You donât have to tell me.â
Rebecca smiled. âOh, look at you! Why wouldnât it be okay to talk about it? Youâre also a member of the family. I didnât tell you about this before because itâs just too embarrassing.â
âWhat exactly happened?â
Rebecca told her the story, âWesley was always entangled with his first love. Sydney always endured repeatedly, but your fatherâinâlaw was stubborn. He just had to cling to his first love.â
Rosalie covered her lips, somewhat surprised. âSo, Dad cheated?â
âWhether he cheated or not, Iâm afraid only he knows. Anyway, because of this, Sydney had many fights with him. She even got sick from the stress, and almost had a serious health issue.
âAfter this dragged on for a while, they were about to divorce. I stepped in to try to handle the matter. I found that woman, Wesleyâs soâcalled first love, to see what kind of person she was. Itâs ridiculous, really. I donât know what he was thinking! You can find a woman like her at any nightclub.â
Rebecca sighed.
âAnd then, that woman put up an act and made Wesley think I was trying to harm her. She argued with me, and got me really upset.

Anyway, I told Wesley that if he wanted to divorce Sydney, heâd have to leave the family with nothing to his name.â
Rosalie couldnât help but admire Rebeccaâs courage. Even with her own son, she could be so impartial and not biased at all. Instead, she protected her daughterâinâlaw and would even kick her son out of the family with nothing.
Having such a motherâinâlaw was rare. It was no wonder Sydney, despite being cold towards Wesley, still respected Rebecca a lot. That respect was wellâdeserved by Rebecca.
âAnd then, what happened to Dad?â Rosalie asked.
