WANIYA'S POV:
"How was your day?" I made Ezzah comfortable in my lap. She had just returned from school. I requested Mirha to go and fetch her from school, as I was reluctant to face Zeeshan.
"We had a lot of fun," she said. "You did, what did you do?" I caressed her hair and placed her bag on the table positioned before me. "We had an activity and used paint for that," she told me, looking all dreamy.
"Oh, wow, that's great," I said. "You know Grumpy Pants helped me in painting," a broken smile crept on my lips. I hummed in response. "Mama, there's a new teacher at school," she rested her head against my chest and caressed her hair.
"Do you like her?" I wasn't sure why was there a new teacher at school. Was Zeeshan leaving the school? No, that is not possible. But there is a possibility. I dusted my lingering thoughts and returned my absolute attention to her.
"She is good, but you know grumpypants is the best," she looked me in my eyes, her eyes sparkling, with anything but love. I smiled at her. She loves Zeeshan and I am inadequate at doing anything about it.
I can't undo the connection they have neither do I want to. Zeeshan is and will always be her Dad, but this doesn't mean that I will divulge the actuality to him.
"Mama, can you marry grumpy pants?" I stilled at her words. "Ezzah," I called out her name. "Mama, he is good and he loves me. I am sure he will love you too," she was innocent. "But, that's not possible," I said. "I will ask grumpy pants."
"No, you won't do such a thing," I warned her. "Ezzah, do you like Shayan?" I questioned her. "I like Sha but I don't know why I like grumpy pants more. Please don't tell Sha it will hurt him," she shrugged.
A tear escaped my eye, I harshly wiped it before it could come to Ezzah's notice. "Ma'am, the samples are here," Sana entered my cabin and informed me. I nodded.
"Where's Mirha?" Mirha dropped Ezzah and she had some work and left the cabin. "Ma'am, she is working on the designs with Amir," I nodded.
"Mama can we go for ice cream," Ezzah interrupted. I told Sana that I would join her in five minutes. "First, mama needs to finish her work. After that, we will go for ice cream," she nodded. I made her sit on the office chair as she loved it and left the cabin, advising her not to leave the place.
I made my way to Mirha. "Mirha and Amir, join me; the samples are here," we three moved towards the room where the samples were placed. "These are beautiful," Mirha exclaimed.
The samples were undoubtedly very beautiful, just the way I had visualized them in my brain. But, I chose to take a closer look to check the fabric and if the work was fine. "Waniya, do you like them?" Mirha questioned me. I smiled and nodded at her.
"Sana, finalize everything. And arrange a meeting with the team for tomorrow," she noted it down on the tab she was holding. "Amir, show me the designs you have been working on," I said. Amir and Mirha, too,, work on the design,s, but I conclude them after making some alterations.
Amir fetched the designs they have been functioning on. I examined the designs and explained a few things they had to work on. But they were really pretty and easily caught one's eye.
"Waniya, I will join in a moment," Mirha left, maybe for the restroom. I walked towards my cabin. The sight melted my heart when I saw Ezzah smiling while witnessing something on the phone.
I don't approve of her operating the phone but who am I lecturing to? "Mama, look, I am talking to grumpy pants," my heart sank. I made my way towards her.
"Ezzah, enough of the phone. We need to go home," I didn't look into the phone nor did I take it from her.
"Waniya," I could hear him calling me. "Ezzah," I warned her. "Okay, grumpy pants. I will meet you tomorrow," she said. "little cute heart, tell your mother, I will meet her soon," what did he just say? He needs brains.
The call went off. I was dumbfounded. What did mean that he would meet me soon? Why will he meet? Not that I am waiting to meet him. Why did he call Ezzah a little cute heart? Does he know? I dusted off my thoughts.
"Mama, ice cream," Ezzah reminded me. Mirha joined us, and we three left for home, but before that, we got some ice cream. Mirha and I needed to buy something, so we decided to visit the mall itself.
We bought the things we needed, and a teddy bear caught Ezzah's vision. Ezzah, being the girl she is, wanted that teddy bear at any cost.
"Ezzah, you already have a lot of teddies at home. We don't need more," I tried to convince her. She shook her head.
"Ezzah, first come, let's get you ice cream, then we will come buy this," I wanted to distract her, and it worked. "Here you go," I handed her the ice cream.
"Waniya, have you guysâShayan and youâ decided on the dates?" Mirha took a sip of her ice cream shake.
"No, we haven't talked about it," I shrugged. Soon we were done with our shakes and ice creams. I wiped Ezzah's mouth, and I thought she must have forgotten about the teddy bear, but no.
"Mama, now the teddy bear," she held my hand. "No, we are going home," I said in a strict tone. "Mamaaaa," she requested.
I don't want her to like those spoiled brats who always accumulate what they desire. I want her to acknowledge the notion of compromise
. "Waniya, let it be," Miraha said. "Mirha, she's already very spoiled," I held Ezzah's hand and made her walk along with me. If she would get a habit of getting everything from her preadolescence it would become an element of her personality which I don't want. And it is completely okay if I don't buy what she needs.
"Ezzah, we are going home. And that is final," I said. "Mama, I want that bear," she stopped me. And I looked at her.
"Ezzah, don't act like a brat. We need to go home," I scolded her and turned to the front when I collided with something really hard. I regained my balance myself to look-
"Be careful, Tresor, or else you will fall," he took a pause and continued "In love with me, again," he whispered the last part into my ears. It was him. I didn't need to look at him to ensure it, I was sure of it.
"Grumpy pants," Ezzah reached him. He gathered her up and wiped her tears. I had no idea that she was crying.
"Stop crying, little cute heart," he cooed her. "Zeeshan, kindly leave," I said. "Ezzah, come, let's go," I looked at Ezzah, who was now looking tranquil, nested in his arms.
"Ezzah, why were you crying?" he questioned her, softly. And she told him. "I will purchase you the teddy," Ezzah grinned.
"You don't need to, I will buy it for my daughter myself," I emphasized the word, my daughter. "Come Ezzah," I said. She didn't make a single move. Is she my daughter or his? His, my brain mocked me. Shut up.
"You know her she won't move," Mirha was right. She would never so, I gave up. We moved towards the shop. Ezzah was smiling. I don't desire her to get attached to Zeeshan.
"Tell me your account, I will transfer the money," I didn't want his money. "Waniya, stop," he held my arm. Ezzah was Mirha standing a bit away from us.
"Zeeshan, I don't accept money from strangers," I tried to hold myself together.
"We are not strangers, Tresor," he needs to stop taking that nickname. "Then what are we, Zeeshan?" I looked him in his eyes, and all I could catch was hurt and misery but that was not doable
. "We are -," he had nothing to say. "Look, we are-were-nothing, so stop dissembling," I said. "Stay away from my daughter." Our daughter.
I yanked my arm from his grasp and moved towards Ezzah and Mirha. I could feel him coming after me. "Waniya, stop." I didn't stop. "Stop it, Zeeshan, she needs space," Mirha stepped and said. "And I need her," his voice broke.
