028 Bald eyes and Ranting

It's been a while.

Three months passed in the blink of an eye.

Many important and funny things happened in those three months. I will tell them later when I have time.

Today, something hilarious happened.

In the morning, Anu sneezed into her palm and a bit of booger fell into her palm. She then spent the next half an hour chasing the ghost and Doodu with the booger. Fortunately, I was spared as I couldn't run. So it was fun watching both of them disgustingly running away from Anu. As for Anu, she simply laughed and chased them.

In the end, all of them were tired. Doodu went to his little house to sleep and Ghost returned to her clock. Once both her playmates were gone, she came to me.

"Do you know, when we go out, everyone looks at mom. No one looks at me." Anu complained.

Instantly, my interest was piqued. Because I knew that she was planning something.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because she shapes her eye hair."

"You mean eyebrows?"

"Yes... Yes. But she doesn't do my eyebrows. So no one looks at me." She said gloomily.

"So?" I was eager to know what she was planning.

"So, I want to do it myself."

"How?"

"Like how dad cuts his beard."

"With trimmer?"

"yes."

I liked the idea.

It was a perfect idea for a disaster. Knowing that it would be a disaster, how can I stop her! As a responsible brother, I had to make sure that she messes up everything. For the past three months, the ghost was keeping an eye on her. So the number of blunders she was making declined.

"That's a very good idea. You are very intelligent." I complimented.

"I know." She accepted my compliment without any shame.

Then she ran out of the room and returned within a minute.

She had dad's trimmer in her hands. It was a bit big for her and she was having trouble carrying it.

Then she pushed a chair in front of the cupboard and climbed on it.

"I am going to do it." She declared confidently. Then she lifted the trimmer to her eye without wasting a second.

'krrrrr....' The trimmer made a satisfying sound.

"Ouuu... I..." Anu cried out looking at the mirror.

I rushed and took a look.

The tip of her left eyebrow was gone! It was fun to see her without a fourth of her eyebrow. Mom is going to be mad and Anu will suffer her wrath.

I was having trouble controlling my laughter.

"What do I do? What do I do? Mom will kill me." Anu started panicking.

'Hi hi hi... I know girl. I look forward to it.' I thought without a bit of guilt.

"Wait. I know what to do. If both the eyebrows are of the same length, then mom won't notice it." Another idea for disaster came out of her.

I was surprised by her knack for disasters. I couldn't help but marvel at the immensity of her tiny brain which was consistently making recipes for disasters.

'krrr...' With the smooth sound of the trimmer, her right eyebrow was reduced in length.

"I hope now she won't notice." Anu turned towards me.

I was having even more difficulty controlling my urge to laugh.

Almost a fourth of the length of her eyebrows was gone. It was hilarious. But I felt like she could do better.

"Don't you think the left one is a bit shorter?" I asked.

"Which is left?" She sometimes gets confused about sides.

"This one." I pointed at her left eyebrow.

"Fine. I will make the other one a bit shorter." Anu turned towards the mirror with the trimmer.

'krrrr...'

"Ohh... That was a bit too much. It's ok. I will reduce the other one a bit more."

'Krr...'

"I don't think they are level."

'krrr...'

Anu continued reducing the length from both sides to make it equal. Every second passed, her eyebrows continued getting shorter and shorter. I was rolling on the floor while doing my best not to laugh. I bit my own tongue to prevent myself from laughing.

"What are you doing?" Mom came looking for Anu since there was no sound from her for a while.

"Nothing. Just shaping my eyehair."  Anu replied confidently and proudly.

Mom dumbfoundedly stared at her eyebrows.  By then, after multiple adjustments, her eyebrows were just half the length.

"Who gave you permission to play with dad's trimmer?" I could see mom's lips twitching. One moment she was angry and the next, she was struggling not to laugh.

"You never help me do my eyehair. So I am doing it." Anu protested.

"How? By removing half of it? Look in the mirror. Now your eyes are bald."

Anu looked into the mirror and her expression changed.

"My eyes are bald!" She murmured dispiritedly.

"Since you dared to take and use the trimmer without permission, go sit in the corner for one hour as a punishment." Mom didn't forget to punish her.

"How much is one hour?" Anu asked confusedly.

"I will tell you when the time is over." Mom replied as she lead Anu to the corner. Mom continued scolding her for a few more minutes. All that time, I was happily giggling.

"Now you little rat, go sit in the other corner." Mom finally turned towards me.

'Huh! What did I do?' I wondered why mom was punishing me. I was an innocent bystander.

Well... Not exactly innocent. But I was still a bystander.

"You can't punish him." Anu protested.

"From now onwards, everyone will be punished whenever you make a mess like this," Mom announced.

"Doodu, come here," Mom called aloud.

Poor Doodu, who was sleeping in the other room oblivious to everything came running. Then he stared at Anu with his mouth agape for a few seconds. He then broke into a long laugh.

"Stop laughing. Weren't you supposed to be watching over them?" Mom scolded Doodu.

This was a major change in the past few months. Doodu was too intelligent and he became mom's right-hand man. In this case, the right-hand dog. Every time I or Anu was up to something naughty, he would run to mom and warn her. For a dog, he was a bit too intelligent.

"You go sit in that corner. Where is Priya?" Mom decided to punish Doodu and she asked for Priya. Priya was the name of the ghost. Mom thought that she was the imaginary friend of Anu.

"She is flying above your head," Anu replied. Priya had indeed come out of her clock after hearing all the noise. Now she was laughing and rolling in the air.

"Priya, go sit in that corner," Mom ordered.

Priya was confused. Mom couldn't see her. So Priya flew around without obeying.

"She isn't going to the corner." Anu backstabbed Priya.

Priya immediately went to the corner. She was glaring at Anu angrily.

Fortunately, our gang had only four members. If there was a fifth one, it would have been a disaster as there were only four corners in the room.

So, we spent our time in the corners. After a few minutes, I was bored and tired. So I acted cutely. I laughed loud and made bubbles with my saliva. Mom laughed and pardoned me. Following my lead, Doodu rolled on the floor and walked on two legs. Soon, he was also pardoned. Seeing this, Anu tried to impress mom.

"Sit there. Or I will take the stick." Mom showed no mercy.

Mom wasn't angry. She even clicked many pics of her funny face and sent them to dad and her friends. But she had to punish her as Anu had broken the rules. Our parents showed us no mercy when we broke rules.

Priya silently accompanied Anu throughout the punishment. She didn't abandon Anu like me or Doodu.

In the past few months, we had become a gang. Anu and ghost would regularly walk around looking for troubles. I had grown a lot in the past few months. Now I can sit and crawl on the floor on all four. So I would follow them inside the house. Doodu would also follow us. But he was actually a lot intelligent and he usually stops us from doing anything stupid.

A few weeks ago, the three went outside for treasure hunting. When they returned, Doodu brought a wildflower for mom. Mom was very happy to get the flower and she thanked him and gave him cookies. Ever since then, he started bringing flowers for mom. He was intelligent enough not to pluck any flower from mom's garden. Even dad didn't dare to touch mom's garden. So Doodu stayed away from the garden. I knew that dogs are intelligent. But this was a bit scary.

Mom's belly was getting bigger. She went to the hospital for a check-up. It was handled by Lakshmi aunty to avoid the waiting time. Dad had passed all the hospital related responsibilities to her as he was busy with the preparation for the election. Mom had no complaints about it as it was not something new to her. Dad's only concern was the health of mom and baby. Other than that, he was sure that mom could handle anything.

Lakshmi aunty was very helpful. After the check-up, she said that both of them were in perfect health. Dad was a lot relieved to hear that.

The election was not yet declared. But dad was very busy. Because once the election was declared, all their activities would come under the radar of the election commission. So dad wanted to complete many 'activities' before the election was declared. Dad was no saint when it came to politics. Dad's boss didn't have the support of any political party and he didn't have any political history either. So dad did many manipulations in the last few months to make him popular in our area. Dad didn't hesitate to use religion or money to make it possible.

Don't get me wrong. My dad is not a bad person. But he isn't exactly a law-abiding citizen either.

About me, I can walk on all fours. I always crawl away from mom. Then she will have to chase me with her big belly. It was really fun until Doodu decided to help mom. I used to hide under the table or the coat. Then mom would have no choice but to beg me to come out. That was fun too. But then one day Doodu came under the bed, bite my cloth and dragged me out. Just like that, he became the good boy and I became the naughty boy.

Doodu was closest to Anu. When Anu is at home or sleeping, he would hang around mom. If both of them are busy, he would come to me. He used to be scared of me. But not anymore. He is least attached to dad. I do not know why, but he has some kind of dislike for dad. Doodu has no issue eating the leftover of mom or Anu. But he never eats leftovers from dad. Dad once joked that  Doodu is the reincarnation of mom's husband from some previous life.

As I mentioned before, the ghost's name was Priya. She became a close friend and an elder sister of Anu. Even now, she doesn't know that I can talk. I decided to keep that a secret from her.

A few weeks ago, we went to the annual day celebrations in Anu's school. There was a programme by Anu's class. It was a nursery play in which a bird goes around asking trees for permission for making a nest. Anu was given the role of a tree which was the furthest away from the microphone. But even then, we could hear the ear-numbing singing on Anu. She had absolutely no talent for singing.

This irritated mom and dad a little. They wanted to see their daughter as the main character. But unfortunately, she was given the least important role. But soon, their dissatisfaction disappeared. Because During the prize distribution, Anu got a lot of prizes.

Apparently, in the kindergarten section, there was not a single boy or girl who was as fast or strong as her. In every sporting event, she came first. Running or jumping or ball throwing,... it doesn't matter. She also broke all the school records in the kindergarten section. I was pretty sure that this was because of her food habits and all the playing around with Doodu.

This made mom and dad proud.

There were a few things that didn't happen also.

For example, Anu was supposed to punch a neighbour kid in the face during Anu's birthday celebration. In the previous life, during Anu's 5th birthday celebration, the neighbour kid touched her cake. She didn't like it and punched him in the face. All this was recorded on a mobile phone. But this time, it didn't happen!

The boy wanted the cherry that was on top of the cake. Just like in my previous life, the boy reached for the cherry. But instead of punching him, Anu decided to share it. I was confused for a while. But in the end, I concluded that it was probably because of Doodu. Ever since she started taking care of Doodu, she was growing up faster. She learned to share food or apologize.

About this neighbour boy, he isn't a random side character. I will tell that story later.
