Chapter 640
Ice and Fire
"He is out of danger now, but he should remain in the hospital. His leg is in a cast. The injury to his upper body was not that serious. He will be transferred to the general ward soon. You can go and see him then," Fred conveyed Roger's physical condition to Carol. Exhausted after the operation, Fred didn't look in the direction of his son and Violet.
"Oh. Thank you, Fred!" Carol said quickly.
"That's fine. I have to go. If there is anything urgent, just call another doctor or the nurse," with these words, Fred left the hallway.
The other doctors followed after him.
After Fred left, Carol turned to the emergency room, about to enter it. At once, a few nurses hauled Roger outside, who was in a wheelchair. An intravenous drip was attached to his arm.
"Roger!" Carol Shen cried out.
"Mr. Roger!" Violet also exclaimed eagerly. She breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that he was out of danger.
Carol Shen reached near her son and followed the nurses to the general ward.
Violet moved to follow them, but Greg instantly stopped her by grabbing her arm.
"Where the hell are you going?" Greg asked in annoyance. 'Why does she want to see him?' he thought furiously. Has she only been thinking about him all this time?'
"I want to see Roger," Violet replied hastily, trying to shake off Greg's hand. She wanted to go to the general ward but Greg had a strong grip on her that made it impossible for her to leave.
"Why? He is fine now. Why are you still so worried about him?" Greg growled, raging with jealousy. 'She wants to look after another man in front of me? What does she want to prove?' he mused. 'Is she trying to show me she is in love with him?'
"He got injured because of me. How can I just leave him alone?" Violet said hurriedly. Her eyes still stared in the direction in which Roger and the nurses went.
"Violet, I donated so much blood to him. You don't care for my health even a little bit?" Greg scowled at Violet's profile, wondering why her eyes weren't on him. Was he not charming enough to attract her attention?
Violet furrowed her brows at his words, turning around to see him. She stopped struggling and gave him a worried once-over before looking him in the eye.
Greg stilled and looked back at her quietly, loving the way she gazed at him. He could never feel bored looking at her. His blood thrummed in excitement at the prospect of seeing her whenever he wanted, now that they were in the same city.
"Are you... are you all right?" Violet asked in a whisper.
"No, I'm not all right," Greg replied promptly. He wanted to see what Violet would do about it.
"Then I will help you get some rest," Violet said, not knowing what else to do.
Greg didn't respond. Instead, he extended his arm, gesturing her to help him.
Violet grasped Greg's arm and walked away from the emergency door.
"Go to my office. It's on the sixth floor," Greg told her, deliberately leaning his body against Violet's. He tried to get as close to her as possible so he could get a whiff of her lovely scent.
"Okay..." Violet said with difficulty. The man was so heavy that she could hardly move with him bearing down on her.
Greg noticed that Violet was finding it hard to walk. "What's the matter?" he asked intentionally. You can't walk any farther?"
"I can do it," Violet said with bravado. No matter how hard it was to help him walk to the office, she would do it. She had to check on Roger too afterward. He got injured because of her and she wanted to see if he was doing okay.
Greg knew Violet was reluctant to take him there, but he wasn't going to let her go. He wanted to see how long she could carry on.
They went into the elevator together. Violet leaned against the wall, out of breath.
They were the only two occupants in the lift. Greg was aware of how close Violet stood. He gazed at her profile, suddenly flooded with a strong urge to kiss her. Slipping a hand in her hair, he forced her to face him before he sealed her lips.
"No... not here! Greg, let me go!" Violet mumbled through the kiss, resisting him.
She pushed him away, making him stagger back. However, Greg was not piqued. His heart warmed at the flurried and alarmed look in her eyes. He realized that Violet was still shy and timid about intimacy, just like she used to be.
The elevator door opened on the sixth floor. Greg leaned on her again as Violet helped him walk out. She searched for his office and found it at the end of the narrow corridor. The door had his name written on it.
Violet twisted the doorknob and helped Greg inside.

This was the first time Greg had come inside his office, having come back to the city only yesterday. He looked around and found it to be spacious and clean. There was a lounge inside prepped up for him.
How could he let this opportunity go? Greg's demeanor instantly shifted as he lifted Violet off her feet and onto his chest. He went straight to the lounge.
"Greg, what the hell are you doing?! Let go off me!" Violet yelped, her feet kicking around violently.
Violet had closed the door to Greg's office after they shuffled inside, so no matter how loud she was being, nobody could hear her. The office was well-insulated and soundproof.
Greg walked into the lounge with Violet in his arms. The room was not as big but there was a large, soft bed that had been pushed against the wall.
The sight of it pleased him very much.
He threw Violet on the bed and crawled to her, hovering over her on his forearms.
Greg's pupils dilated as he scanned her lying under him. He heard his own heartbeat in his ears. He could hardly control himself.
"No, no, no! Greg, please get off me!" Violet pleaded as her hands drummed against his chest. They were so close to each other that she could feel his deep breathing.
"Why are you denying me again? We are not in the elevator anymore," Greg said. He had let her go in the elevator as she asked, but now they were in his private room. They could do whatever they liked.
