Chapter 512

"Oh, nothing. Why would you ask that?" Sally put on an obviously-feigned expression of innocence before looking at Jackson's wife with contempt.

She continued,"We haven't seen each other for quite a while now. I was concerned. How have you been lately?"

"I'm good, thank you for your concern. If there isn't anything else, I'll excuse myself," Cherry replied coldly, turning to leave again.

Sally grabbed Cherry's arm in a vice-like grip before Cherry could leave.

Lily made a dash towards Cherry, trying to shake Sally's hand off.

"Let her go!" she shouted at Sally furiously.

"Why would I ever do that? Now that I've run into her, I won't be letting her leave that easily," Sally snarled.

As they were locked together by Sally's grip, Sally suddenly gave Cherry a hard push, releasing her at the right moment to try to send her sprawling.

Lily reacted fast to catch Cherry before she hit the ground.

"Mrs. Cherry, are you alright?" Lily asked hastily, looking anxious.

"I...I'm fine, thank you, Lily," Cherry replied, catching her breath.

Lily's brows furrowed further. "Is the baby okay?" Lily fretted. As she watched Cherry panting from her altercation, Lily feared something might happen to the unborn baby.

Meanwhile, Sally had frozen in astonishment. She stared at Cherry dumbfounded.

"Are you pregnant now?" Sally asked in disbelief. 'How could it be possible? I even haven't thought of a plan to handle her son. But now she is having another child. What am I supposed to do now?' she wondered.

Cherry stared icily into Sally's eyes, not intending to answer her question. 'Why should I tell her anything? She doesn't deserve that, and she's got nothing to do with me anyway, ' Cherry told herself silently.

"My lady, are you really okay? How about I give Mr. Jackson a call?" Lily continued, ignoring Sally. She put a soft hand on Cherry's arm.

"There is no need, thank you. He's busy now. I'm really fine. I don't feel any discomfort at all," Cherry answered. 'Although Jackson asked me to call him if I met any trouble, I don't want to interrupt his work with this. I believe I can handle Sally myself.'

Finally having made sure Cherry was fine, Lily turned on Sally furiously. "What did you just do?" she snapped threateningly. "Don't forget, Sally, you're not a rich girl anymore. You don't hold the authority or power to question her, let alone attacking her. You would learn the consequences of your actions should young master learn of this."

Sally's face contorted with disgust. "Who do you think you are? Lecturing me on my authority? Don't forget your own identity. I won't doubt that the Chu Family is powerful. But their servant is nothing. You're just a filthy low-born. How dare you presume to teach me a lesson?" Sally retorted angrily, eyeing Lily with hatred.

"How noble do you really think you are? Is your father a high-ranking officer? Or, is your mother from a respectful family? Do you dare to tell us your real identity?" Lily bombarded, shooting question after question at Sally. Lily's sharp words frightened Sally.

"You..." Sally stammered. 'This old woman isn't as simple a person I had imagined. She threw out those words confidently as if she knew the truth. I am not a perfect person without dirty laundry. If aired, I fear it might bring me trouble. If discovered, I may not be able to be as free as I am now, ' she mused.

"Sally, I strongly advise you to leave now. If anything were to happen to my lady, my master will find out by my word and you would be forced to face him. You can't hide behind the excuse that I didn't remind you," Lily told her, a cold and confident air emanating from her.

"Go ahead and try it. I'm not afraid of you," Sally sneered, crossing her arms as if she feared no retribution. "I grew up with Jackson. He wouldn't be cruel to me. Although he won't take me as his wife, I doubt he has the heart to hurt me."

Lily considered Sally's words. 'It's true that Sally befriended Jackson as little children. But if Cherry were injured by Sally, Jackson surely wouldn't just let her off. He loves Cherry very much, after all.'

"Cherry, how could you get pregnant again?" Sally turned on Cherry, finding Lily silent. "Do you impel me to kill your son, and now murder your unborn baby?" she threatened in a rage.

Sally's words forced Cherry to finally realise just how angry Sally was deep down, despite pretending to be composed and calm.

"Miss Sally, my children and I have done nothing wrong to you. If you ever dare to lay a hand on them, I will never rest until I have finally wrought revenge. You wouldn't even be rid of me if I died, I would simply haunt you from beyond the grave," Cherry warned resolutely. 'I won't allow anyone to hurt my children. I won't spare anyone who dares to threaten them, ' she thought.

"Well, then, Cherry. I'll continue to be your enemy. I'm curious to see whom your husband will choose in the end: you, or me?" Sally declared defiantly. She only had one goal from now on: get Jackson.

"Sally, please acquire my husband's approval before you attempt any dirty means to 'steal' him. If all this is just your own fantasy, I think you're poor,"

Cherry remarked, a sly smile decorating her face. She looked on Sally with contempt and pity.

"Cherry, you..." Sally fumed. She was so angry that she couldn't utter another word. If Lily wasn't standing between them, Sally would surely hit Cherry.

"Sally, leave before I call my husband. Who do you think he'll side with?" Cherry asked confidently. "You? Or me, the one pregnant with his unborn child?" Cherry stroked her not-quite showing belly tauntingly.

Knowing she had to leave now or risk Jackson's wrath, Sally stared at Cherry seething,"Cherry, I won't let you go," she threatened. "You won't own what I fail to get!"

Sally spun on her heel, walking away.
