After their heartfelt exchange, Gu Zi took the children to the park, a visit arranged through Gao Ming’s mother. Meanwhile, the two fathers stayed behind at the teahouse, enjoying their conversation over tea.

By the time the group returned home, it was past five in the afternoon.

Gao Lang took Gao Ming back to their home, while Gu Zi and her children returned to the Su residence. Sitting on the sofa in the living room, Gu Zi felt a wave of fatigue wash over her. This outing had been as exhausting as doing housework.

Noticing her weariness, Su Shen joined her on the couch and gently massaged her shoulders. His large frame loomed over her petite figure, and he was cautious not to apply too much pressure. His careful, yet firm touch soon alleviated her tension.

Feeling much more relaxed, Gu Zi glanced at the clock and noted it was nearly six o’clock.

“My parents should be arriving soon,” she said, recalling their plans for a family reunion dinner that evening. Her family now lived in town, and her brother was driving the pig farm truck into the city, making the trip much easier.

Su Shen was aware of the arrangements and looked forward to them. Having few close relatives of his own, he viewed Gu Zi’s family as his own.

He quickly got up to head toward the door. “I’ll go open the main gate,” he said.

Upon hearing that their grandparents were coming, Su Li and Su Le dashed after Su Shen, excitedly racing to greet them.
