Chapter 9
Marriage Contract or a Love Proposal | ✔
Kiara
After signing the contract, here I am with Ne-- Mr. Khurana, having my lunch.
I can say my life has progressed so much in the last 3 days, more than it has in my lifetime.
all thanks to Prisha!
"Kiara, don't you think since we both signed the contract, now we should let our parents meet each other?" He said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, that's a nice idea; even my parents want to meet you and your family." I agreed.
"So great, tomorrow is Sunday, so shall we meet for dinner?" He suggested with excitement.
"Sure, who's house, yours or mine? " I questioned.
"At my house, mom gets way too excited about arranging things." He said and I agreed
"Ok, so your place it is, tomorrow at 7:30 in the night."
"hmm"
deciding this, we finished our lunch, followed by an ice cream that Neil offered.
.
.
Currently, it's 8:00 pm, and I'm entering my house with a broad smile on my face, for reasons even I don't know.
"Look who's here, my lovely daughter, who's soon going to get married." my mother said dramatically.
"Oh, Mumma, you and your emotional drama, don't you get tired of it?" I replied.
"Oh dear, your mother can never get tired of these serials; even I used to complain about them, but she made me addicted to them." dad said on mom's behalf.
This couple is love.
"BTW, dear soon-to-be in-laws, we have to go tomorrow to have dinner at Neil's place; his parents want to meet you both and obviously me." I informed them and started going towards my room.
"You see, Aatish, the progression; the first time she told us about this guy, it was only Mr. Khurana, now it's Neil," my mother joked.
She's becoming weird.
"I agree, Priya; she didn't have this much progress in her report card either." Dad joked.
"Papa, you too?" I said, irritated.
"The company's effects," he said playfully.
"Okay, enough of Timepass; Kia, what time do we have to leave so I can prepare? Also, are you going to bring a gift, or should I?" Mom throwed the questions at me,
"We have to be there at 7:30, and as for the gift, you obviously will bring it; you know my preferences, right?" I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"Ok, so I'm planning on taking a Ganesha idol as a gift; will it be fine with Kiara and Kiara's dear dad?" Mom said immediately as if she had already planned the gift.
"Yes, dear." my dad and I replied together.
Then we had dinner while discussing all my parent's fantasies for my wedding, and then I called the day off.

Neil
Everything is finally on track; now that the contract has been signed, just the thing that's left is getting married. With this thought, I entered my paradise, or in short, my home.
"Look who's arrived, a groom-to-be!" and this was none other than my naughty brother.
"Oh, Sid, don't forget you're next on the line." My lovely mother defended me.
"Enough of this now, Neil; when are you planning on making us meet your would-be in-laws, or do you want to marry without us knowing your bride?" Dad said jokingly.
"Oh yes, that's what I was going to tell you. I met Kiara again today, and we decided that she and her family will come tomorrow for dinner." I informed them, and then the thing I feared the most, my dear mother started to yell.
"Oh my God, Neil, you are telling me this now? Just less than 24 hours before they are going to arrive? How am I going to prepare and manage everything?" she said, growing really anxious.
Dad tried to intervene in Mom's lecture, but mom dismissed him.
"You are just like your father, irresponsible about everything and thinking that I am a superwoman to do everything; even he informs me about any important thing like this, on such a short notice and expects everything to be perfect." My mother started getting stressed out.
"Mom, mom, mom, calm down. Just relax. Ok. We'll do everything; don't stress out" and this time it was Sid who tried and succeeded in stopping her by hugging her.
Obviously, he would; after all, isn't he Mom's favourite of all?
OK, ok, don't bash at me. I know that, obviously, he's more caring and loving towards them than me.
"Mom, just relax. It's not like a celebrity or an important client is coming home that you're stressing so much; we'll be fine." I said it because I thought it would reduce her stress, but in return, what I got was a hit on my arm by her.
"Child, they are your would-be in-laws, and they are obviously more important than your stupid client or a celebrity." she said, and now I guess she's angry.
Uh-oh, bad decision. Why did I even give it a try at calming her down when I know Sid's the only person who can do it?
"Dishu, calm down, dear; I'll help you; Sid will help you; and this idiot standing here will also help you." her Dad said, calming her down.
Oh, I adore this couple.
wait.
"Dad, by any means, the idiot you referred to, is me?" I inquired ,pointing at me, surprised, because he had never been so strange on the same day.
And by strange I mean being playful with us, cracking jokes, and calling me an idiot despite the fact that I am the most hardworking and intelligent person in our family.
"Oh, sure!" he said in a very obvious tone.
"Ok, enough of this. Sid,the first thing tomorrow morning, you and I are going to the market to buy everything for dinner, and till that time, the idiot and his father are going to clean the whole house and make everything look perfect." Mom casually ordered.
"Me?" my dad interrupted.
"Yes, honey, you and your dear son, now that the discussion is over, let's go to bed." mom said as she went to her room.
and as we all realised there was no point in standing there, we also dispersed to our rooms.

Kiara
The night is finally here when I am going to meet my would-be in-laws.
I went downstairs to get ready in a light pink slit Kurti and blue jeans, only to see Mumma and Papa standing there looking absolutely stunning.
"Hey Kiara, would you click our picture together?" mom asks me.
"Oh sure."
And then I take their picture;
this couple;
will I ever be like this?
Girl!! You signed a contract, remember?
I heard my subconscious mind and then nodded indeed. I'm not having a future like this, because marriages are just... I don't know how to say it, but I'm not interested in marrying, and I don't even know the reason why.
My mother said something that jolted me out of my reverie.
"Kiara, where are you lost? Come, let's go."
"Yes, I'm coming."
With this, we all sat in our cars, and soon reached Khurana Mansion, it wasn't very far from my place, just an hour's distance.
"So here we are, Momma and Papa, come on, let's go inside." I said, getting out of the car
"Sure," mom replied, and we went towards the door and rang the bell.
Ding-Dong
and the door opened, revealing Sid.
"Hello, Kiara, Kiara's Mother, and Kiara's Father." He wished us, and we all three replied to him with a hello.
"Sid, are they here?" I heard a voice ask, probably his mother's.
"Yes Mom."
Yes, that's his mother.
"Why are you all standing outside? Please come inside," Sid said, and we proceeded inside.
WOW, I could only say a single word, the house is stunning. Even my house looks as good as this, but it's much larger on the inside.
I shifted my gaze in that direction, noticing a lovely lady and a man who resembled an older version of Sid.
Oh, they are Neil's parents, I guess.
"Hello." we greeted together.
"Hi, I'm Disha Khurana, and this is my husband, Harsh; we are Neil's parents, and I guess you know him; he's Sid, Neil's younger brother; nice to meet you."
She said this while shaking hands with my parents.
"Hello, I'm Priya Mehra, and this is my husband Aatish; we are Kiara's mom and dad, and it's nice to meet you too." Mom did the effort for introduction.
"Hey, so you're Kiara, and you're so beautiful. I asked Neil for your photo, but he said he didn't have one. Now tell me who else in the world won't have their fiancé's photo." She said to me before I replied to her, My dear mother spoke up.
"Same here, Mrs. Khurana; even she replied the same when I asked her for Neil's photograph." Mom said, like literally complained.
"Kids these days," as Mr. Khurana was about to continue,
"Are so weird" My dad completed the sentence.
"Agreed," both the mothers said together.
"By the way, where is Neil?" My mother asked, finding him nowhere around.
"Oh, he's getting ready. Boys these days need more time to get ready than anyone." Mrs. Khurana said it, and we all laughed at it.
"No, Mom, it's just for him; see, I'm ready on time," Sid spoke up, defending
"Oh yeah, till he comes, please have a seat." Mrs. Khurana said
"Yes, please come," Mr. Khurana continued.
