Chapter 33

Chapter thirty two: that awkward moment

The billionaire's wife ✓ [Editing]

ELIZABETH'S POV

I woke up with a hangover. It was from last night's drinking.

I felt dizzy, I felt like I was spinning. Pretty much like the day, I woke up in the basement. To top it up, I had a headache. The headache was so intense that it made me sick to my stomach, something told me this was from more than just a hangover.

I'm never drinking again.

I turned to my right to find a sleepy Charles.

I took the blanket off my side of the bed so I would go to the bathroom and get something for my headache.

We were both naked.

What the hell happened last night?

'Oh my gosh,' I think I slept with Charles.

I sneaked out of the bed making sure not to wake him, I certainly didn't want to make things more awkward than there already were.

I could only make out a few words of what happened last night.

'Drinking, talking and drinking'

I didn't remember what happened afterwards or how we ended up in bed.

I decided to take a nice and warm bath to calm myself a bit.

When I got back into the bedroom there was no sign of Charles.

I heard two voices downstairs, it sounded like Michael and Charles so I decided to see what was going on.

"Don't you have any food in your own house?" Charles asked.

Lately, he had been coming here a lot, maybe too much.

"Of course not, that why I have you," Michael replied.

Michael was standing by the stove making pancakes.

"Would you like some pancakes, Elie?" Michael said looking in my direction.

"Sure, why didn't I marry you instead."

Charles turned to me staring at me for a moment. I was melting deep inside. I just couldn't look him in the eye.

Charles didn't look like someone who had a hangover or anything, he was probably used to alcohol.

With Michael there, things were less awkward than they would have been.

We sat by the island table having our breakfast, I have to say Michael was a pretty good cook.

"Michael, how did you learn to cook so well?"

"Well after five years of chopping peoples hands-off and fraying it while their watch then force it down there throat. you kinda learn a thing or two about cooking."

Charles and I looked at him in complete horror, I couldn't believe this. I just lot my apatite.

"Come on guys, I'm joking"

"The police still doesn't have any trace of Erik."

I could see the now he was trying to change the subject.

All these Erik talks are starting to give me a headache, he is part of that chapter of my life I'm willing to move on from and forget about.

"We gonna teach you how to fight," Michael announced.

"We are?" Charles said sounding a bit confused.

"Yes, we are," Michael said putting some emphasis on the words We Are.

"Okay," I said sounding a bit confused.

"Okay, we gonna start in five minutes."

"Wait, you serious," I asked.

"Yes," they both said at the same time.

"Listen, Elizabeth. If I had to kill you right now I'd have no problem with that, not that I would but. I've been thinking of a better way to say this but then I realized there is no better way to say this. You are so weak,"

As rush as it sounds he was right, I like the way he went straight to the point.

I was in my room getting ready for the so-called 'karate lessons' when I heard a sudden knock on my door.

It was Maria, Michael and Charles's mother.

"I think Charles and Michael are in the living room," I said.

"No, I'm not looking for them. I came to talk to you."

This was weird, not once has she ever spoken to me.

"Sure ma'am"

I offered her a seat but she insisted that she wouldn't belong so it wasn't necessary.

"I'd just like to thank you for what you did for son, he was a mass without you. All of them are and it's all fault." She took a long sharp breath, I could see she was under a lot of stress.

"I was such a bad mother to them. I made them the way they are if only I had spent more time with them,

I just found out that my son is alive after more than fifteen years of thinking his dead, the other is a criminal. I don't know what he is involved in but he is not any better. The other, he shut everyone out.

I feel like I've lost my boys forever."

I just kept quiet, I didn't know what to say, I definitely wouldn't ever want to be in her position. If they were my children I would probably have sent them up for adoption.

"I don't even know why I'm saying this to you right now, I just want you to know that if you have children one day, don't make the same mistakes I did."

That was the last thing she said to me before she left my room.

I followed after her, now she was going to the living room, probably to talk to Charles and Michael.

"Your father and I are throwing a get-together party next week, your grandfather is gonna there."

"I'll think about it," Charles said.

I could see that the whole 'family reunion' thing was not his 'thing'.

"I'm definitely coming," Michael said.

"Your sister Kate will be joining us."

Maria said before shutting the door.

"Defiantly not coming," Michael muttered as soon as he heard the door shut.

"Me too," Charles said.

"Why not? your mom seemed pretty excited," I asked

"Because my sister is gonna be there, she is like the devils personal assistant,"

"Wait, you two have a sister?"

"Half-sister, she's my father's bastard," Charles said

"She's like the female version of Nick," Michael added

"What's wrong with Nick, he's twice the man you both are combined."

"You don't know him as we do," Michael said,

"Are there any more siblings I should expect to hear of?" I asked

Their family is pretty messed up, they might just be the most messed up family I've ever seen.

"None that we know of, my father is a man of many surprise's," Michael said

After a while, we started playing table tennis and guess what, I totally sucked. To my advantage, they had totally forgotten about the whole 'karat lessons' thing, and I couldn't be happier.

"We going to Paris, pack your bag."

"Cool, I'm gonna get my bags," Michael said, he sounded excited, maybe a bit too excited.

"You not coming with us,"

"Okay fine, I'm leaving," Michael said

I guess once again it was just me and Charles.

I was in my bedroom packing my bags then I heard two voices downstairs. It sounded like Charles was arguing with someone.

Out of curiosity, I went downstairs to find out what was happening.

It turned out to be my biggest mistake.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm.."

"I told you it was over between us!"

"Charles, I'm pregnant with your child."
