Dragon Nest

How to Train Your Dragon

...

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

"So... what now?" Astrid slowly asks, making me sigh heavily and stroke (D/N)'s ear, him purring happily in reply.

I glance over at Hiccup as he heavily sighs, shaking his head with a frown.

"Guys, your final exam is tomorrow!"

Hiccup looks over at me with furrowed brows before he looks back at Toothless.

"You know you'll have to kill--" Astrid cuts herself off, her grip on my shoulder tightening as she whispers, "--kill the dragons."

"Don't remind us." Hiccup grumbles, looking ahead.

(D/N) lowly growls, his ears flickering as I tilt my head in concern. Toothless becomes alert, a light clicking and rumble coming from him.

Astrid gasps, gripping me tightly as (D/N) suddenly takes the lead, Hiccup yelping as Toothless swiftly follows.

"Hiccup?" I quickly call in concern, looking back.

"Toothless? (D/N)? What's happening?" He questions, looking down at Toothless.

"(D/N)?" I quietly call, setting my hand on his head.

I gasp and flinch back as he roars shortly at me, his ears flat against his skull.

"What is it?"

(D/N) snarls, swiftly dodging to the left as a Monstrous Nightmare joins his side, my eyes widening as I gasp.

"Get down!" Hiccup quietly calls to us, making me and Astrid lower ourselves.

Toothless joins (D/N)'s side, lowly growling and snapping his head to look around. He suddenly roars and runs into (D/N) as a Nadder joins his side, making Astrid yelp and tightly grab onto my arm. (D/N) barks a warning, lowly hissing.

"Ouch!" I hiss in pain, quickly pulling my hand from his head as his scales spike.

"You good?" Astrid softly questions before we both gasp at the sight of hundreds of dragons surrounding us in the deep fog, each holding an animal or fish.

"What's going on?" I breathe out, my eyes wide as (D/N) continues to hiss.

"I don't know," Hiccup whispers, setting a hand on Toothless' head. "Toothless, (D/N), you gotta get us out of here, guys."

Toothless jerks his head, ignoring Hiccup.

"It looks like they're hauling in their kill," Hiccup mumbles, looking around at the dragons.

"Uh... What does that make us?" Astrid questions, her voice shaking.

"(D/N) and Toothless would never let them harm us," I reply softly with determination, shaking my head.

I gasp as (D/N) snaps at a Zippleback, making it cower away before it notices the two of us. (D/N) lowly growls, causing it to shortly roar back and fly further away from us.

My heart sinks as we begin to descend downward at a great speed, Astrid yelling and gasping.

(D/N) and Toothless work together, maneuvering through the tall pillars of rocks and slowly spiraling around each other.

"Hiccup," I call, looking up at the Volcano with wide eyes.

I look over at him, making him do the same before he looks back up at the Volcano.

The dragons all begin to enter through small tunnels, making us all yell as (D/N) and Toothless follow suit. It was pitch black for a moment before the area was lit up by lava, the cries of the animals being carried by the dragons echoing off the walls.

The blazing heat stung my face, making me wince and squint as I brush my hair from my eyes.

"What my Dad wouldn't give to find this..." Hiccup quietly breathes out as Toothless flies over us, flying at (D/N)'s side.

I wince and cough as Astrid's grip becomes deadly, making me lightly slap her hands. She quickly loosens up, making me sigh in relief as I look around at all the dragons.

"This must be their nest," I realize, watching the animals fall into the foggy unknown.

(D/N) barks at Toothless, making him nod and follow as (D/N) swoops upward and onto a ledge.

Toothless lands besides us, cowering lightly behind (D/N) and lowly rumbling.

"Well, it's satisfying to know that all of our food is being dumped down a hole," Hiccup scoffs, shaking his head.

"They're not eating any of it," Astrid agrees in confusion as I stare into the fog.

"Unless..." I mumble before gasping as a Gronckle flies over the fog, buzzing lightly.

It shakes its head before regurgitating up a fish, spitting it out into the fog.

"Unless?" Hiccup urges, pausing as a low snarl was heard.

My eyes never leave the Gronckle as a large dragon's head suddenly appears from the fog, devouring the Gronckle in one bite as the other dragons cower.

"What... Is that?" Astrid breathes out, her hand trembling on my shoulder.

"Unless there's... A leader..." I reply, my voice lightly shaking in fear.

(D/N) lowly growls, his scales flattening before becoming spikey once more as his ear flickers. The large dragon peeks out of the fog, its nostrils flaring as it breathes in deeply.

"It smells us," I quickly realize, making Hiccup gasp.

"All right, bud. We got to get out of here." Hiccup quietly urges Toothless, shaking him from his fear. "Now!"

(D/N) roars, swiftly shoving Toothless and flying after him just as the dragon snaps for us. The rest of the dragons begin panicking, following after us to escape the jaws of death.

"Look out!" I shout, gasping as Toothless narrowly dodges the dragon, a Zippleback being taken in his place.

I look back one last time, breathing out in relief before facing forward.

...

Third Person P.O.V

"No, (Y/N)'s right! It totally makes sense!" Astrid says as they fly onto the shore of Berk. "It's like a giant beehive. They're the workers and that's their Queen! It controls them."

(D/N) gracefully lands, snorting softly as Astrid swiftly jumps off him. Toothless lands besides him, watching Astrid.

"Let's find your dad!"

"Wait, Astrid!"

"No! No," Hiccup shouts, quickly unhooking himself and blocking her path as (Y/N) does the same. "No, not yet.

"Astrid, they'll kill them," (Y/N) shakes her head, smiling softly when she sees Toothless playfully chasing (D/N).

"We have to think this through, carefully." Hiccup agrees, sighing softly as he starts pacing.

"Guys, we just discovered the Dragon's Nest," Astrid scoffs, shaking her head as she looks between the two. "The thing we've been after since Vikings first sailed here! And you guys wanna keep it a secret?! To protect your... Pet dragons? Are you serious?"

Hiccup and (Y/N) look at each other, standing with each other as they face her.

"Yes." Hiccup replies, his voice holding no room for arguing.

"Please, Astrid," (Y/N) says in a firm tone, her eyes serious and pleading.

Astrid's glare falters as she looks between the two, Hiccup looking away and (Y/N) rubbing her arm as she looks towards the water.

"Okay," Astrid says after a moment. "Then what do we do?"

"Just... Give me until tomorrow," Hiccup sighs heavily. "I'll figure something out," he pauses, looking back at (Y/N). "Trust me. I won't let anything happen to you."

(Y/N) felt her cheeks become warm as Hiccup quickly looks away from her, a blush burning at his face as he kicks a rock around.

Astrid looks between the two, clearing her throat after a moment and walking over to them. She swiftly and lightly punches (Y/N)'s arm as she yelps, roughly punching Hiccup's shoulder after as he grunts in pain.

"That was for kidnapping me."

Toothless chokes on the water he was drinking, shaking his head as Hiccup looks back with a confused face. (D/N) looks over with a snort, standing tall and staring at Astrid with a light glare as his tail flickers.

"Don't worry," Astrid lightly laughs, waving him off as she smiles. "That's the last time I hurt her."

(D/N)'s ears perk as his glare falls, his tail swaying happily behind him as he resumes drinking water with Toothless.

"Come on, (Y/N). We should get back home. Mom and Dad are waiting for us, probably." Astrid grins, walking away as (Y/N) watches her.

She smiles, looking back at Hiccup, who nods with a wide smile.

(Y/N) quickly rushes to him, hugging him tightly and pecking his cheek before rushing after Astrid, the two laughing as they race back home.

Hiccup sways lightly, muttering incoherently as he places a hand where she kissed. His cheeks were flushed pink, and warm. He watches her leave in a daze, a small smile on his face and not noticing the two dragons approaching him.

(D/N) curiously rumbles on his left, Toothless chirping on his right as they stare at him.

Hiccup looks up between the two, stammering and scoffing.

"W-- What are you two lookin' at?!" He demands defensively with embarrassment, looking away with a heavy blush.

(D/N) scoffs lightly, shaking his head in amusement as Toothless watches the two in the distance.
