Chapter 984
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lucas stared at his father, feeling a complicated mix of emotions that were hard to put into words.
He had really thought that his father and the rest of the family would object.
After all, AIDS wasnât a trivial matter.
But to his surpriseâ¦
Just then, Norma suddenly spoke up. âLucas, even though youâve made up your mind about the matter, what about Belinda? Are you sure⦠well, are you sure that she will agree?â
Harold nodded in agreement, his tone more serious when he said, âYour mother has a point. From what I know of Belinda, she will probably choose to deal with this all by herself.â
Lucasâ eyes narrowed, and his voice echoed with absolute resolve. âI wonât give her a chance to do that!â
With their discussion done, Lucas left the Clark residence and drove straight to Belindaâs place.
He entered the code and walked in, plopping down on the living room couch. He then sent a message to Bethany. âIs Belinda asleep?â
It took Bethany about a minute to reply, âShe just fell asleep.â
âCome downstairs if you can. Iâm in the living room,â Lucas replied.
Four more minutes later, Bethany walked into the living room.
âWhat are you doing here?â she asked.
gαâηÏνðâsâ¤com is your story source âIâm worried about Belinda,â Lucas said. âHow is she?â
âNot good.â Bethany shook her head, her expression heavy. âBoth her mind and body are not doing well. Sheâs already showing symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. I looked it up. Apparently, in the period of post-exposure prophylaxis, itâs common to experience headaches, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, and even a low fever or rashes. Theyâre side effects from the medication.â
As she said this, Bethany seemed to remember something and clenched her teeth in frustration. âWhatâs most frustrating is Holley! Do you have any idea how hypocritical she is? She actuallyâ¦â Bethany proceeded to recount what Holley had done to Lucas.
After a pause, she added, âI was planning to have a private talk with Holley. I wanted to ask her to tone it down, you know? But Belinda happened to see that, too, so she told Holley to leave directly.â
Lucasâ expression turned dark.
How could Holley have done that?
Bethany let out a heavy sigh. âAs soon as Holley left, Belinda criedâ¦â
Bethany said, âBelinda kept saying that she was fine, but I knew she was suffering deep inside. I could tell that she was happy and relieved when her mother first arrived. Holley hugged her and offered to stay and take care of her. But it turned out that Holley was just faking all of it. This is just too much! What kind of mother would do that to her own daughter? She treated Belinda like she was some kind of contagious virus. Not to mention, Belinda isnât even infected now.â
Lucas hadnât said a word, but his face was dark.
âI didnât tell Belinda,â Lucas said slowly, âbut I took samples from her and Holley to have a paternity test done. Iâm still waiting for the results.â
