Chapter 966
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Catherineâs injury was minor, but her knee had scraped against the ground, embedding small pebbles into the wound.
As the doctor irrigated the wound with saline, Catherine winced in pain.
After cleaning the wound, the doctor prescribed an ointment to prevent infection.
Leaving the examination room, Catherine said to Belinda, âThank you for being here with me, but Iâm fine now. Youâre still on duty, so you should return to your department.â
âNo need to thank me,â Belinda said, helping Catherine to a nearby chair.
The friend who had come with Catherine had left on an errand, leaving Catherine alone with Belinda.
Catherine turned to Belinda. âBelinda, can I ask you for a favor?â
Belinda offered an awkward smile. âDonât tell me you want me to keep your injury a secret from Johnson.â
âThatâs exactly what I want to ask of you.â Catherine nodded.
Belinda gave a faint smile. âWell, youâre a bit late with that request. Johnson⦠heâ¦â She gestured behind Catherine. âHeâs already here.â
Catherine froze.
She slowly turned her head.
Upon seeing Johnson behind her, out of breath and looking worried, Catherine didnât know what to say.
âLet me see your wound,â Johnson said quickly, crouching to inspect Catherineâs knee.
However, the wound was already covered with sterile gauze.
Still, concern was evident on Johnsonâs handsome face.
âIâm fine, Johnson,â Catherine said, gently pulling her leg back.
Belinda spoke up. âDonât worry; itâs just a superficial wound. However, she wonât be able to walk properly for a few days. Try to keep her off her feet as much as possible, make sure the wound stays dry, and she should eat light meals.â
âOkay,â Johnson replied, then effortlessly lifted Catherine into his arms.
Catherine gasped, surprised, and instinctively clung to his neck.
Her expression tensed slightly. âJohnson, I can walk on my ownâ¦â
Johnson met her gaze with concern. âDidnât the doctor advise against walking?â
Catherine found herself without words.
Johnson turned to Belinda. âBelinda, weâll leave now.â
âOkay,â Belinda replied.
Once they entered the elevator, Belinda made her way back to the Cardiac Surgery Department.
On the drive home, Johnson broke the silence. âHow did you get hurt?â
âI tripped while running,â Catherine replied.
Johnson didnât say anything further.
After he parked the car in the Hoffman familyâs garage, he clicked off his seatbelt and turned to face Catherine.
