Chapter 940
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius
âI agree with Lucas on this,â Vincent said.
Belinda and Bethany exchanged looks before Belinda spoke.
âJohnson should think this through himself. He has his own considerations when it comes to Catherine.â
She raised her glass.
âCome on, letâs drink first.â
With that, the conversation shifted. No one mentioned the topic again. When the gathering ended, they all called designated drivers to take them home. Lucas took Belinda home, while Vincent went back with Bethany and Johnson.
Johnson wasnât drunk, but no one wanted to leave him alone in this state. They made sure he got home safely before parting ways. Yet, instead of going upstairs to his room, Johnson sat in the dimly lit living room, lost in thought.
Then, the sound of a car pulling up outside snapped him out of it. Resting with his eyes closed just moments ago, he suddenly opened them. He stood and walked over to the window.
From there, he had a clear view of the area outside his place. A sleek black luxury car was parked at the entrance. The sight made his face turn pale.
A second later, the passenger door opened, and Catherine stepped out of the car. She waved at the person inside the car, exchanged a few words, then turned and walked toward the house.

Catherine stepped inside and stopped in her tracks when she spotted Johnson.
âOh, Johnson? Youâre still up this late?â she asked, looking slightly surprised.
Johnsonâs gaze darkened.
âDo you realize how late it is?â
Catherine was momentarily at a loss for words before explaining, âI was working on a project with someone from my school. We got so caught up that I lost track of time. It wonât happen again.â
As she spoke, she stepped closer to Johnson, catching the faint scent of alcohol in the air. Her brows furrowed.
âJohnson⦠Have you been drinking again?â
Johnson didnât answer. His eyes stayed locked on her, unblinking, his Adamâs apple bobbing slightly.
âJohnson, youââ Before she could finish speaking, he suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the stairs.
âJohnson, what are you doing?â Catherine was startled for a moment. Johnson didnât stop. They reached the second floor, and he led her straight into her room. Then he slammed the door shut.
âJohnson, what⦠What are you doing?â Catherine blinked, confused.
