Chapter 923
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lyle remained silent for a moment before saying, âKylee told you she was fired because of Belinda⦠But did you ever bother verifying that?â
Mitchellâs response was instant.
âVerify? Whatâs there to verify? You think Kylee would lie to me?â
Another pause, this one longer. Then, Lyle spoke again.
âMitchell, I suggest you investigate this matter first. The truth⦠may not be as straightforward as you believe.â
Lyleâs tone turned serious.
âAt the very least, you should hear Belindaâs perspective on the situationâ¦â
When Mitchell heard Lyleâs words, a deep furrow formed on his brow.
âLyle, whatâs gotten into you?â he asked.
âKylee is familyâour own cousin. If we donât stand by her, are you suggesting we take an outsiderâs side instead?â
Lyleâs response was measured.
âJust take my advice. Anyway, I have a meeting to attend. I need to hang up now.â
With that abrupt dismissal, he ended the call, leaving Mitchell staring at the screen in confusion.
What was going on with Lyle? Something felt off.
Before he could dwell on it further, his phone rang again, pulling him from his thoughts.
When he saw the caller ID, a hint of surprise flashed across his face before he quickly answered the call.
The call was from Carola.
âMitchell, whatâs going on between you and Belinda?â Carola asked directly.
Hearing this question again for the second time that day, Mitchell furrowed his brows.
First Lyle, now Carolaâwhy were they both suddenly asking about the matter with Belinda?
Even though he found it odd, he explained the situation once more, recounting Kyleeâs dismissal and his grievances against Belinda.
âKylee was fired?â Carola exclaimed, genuine surprise lacing her voice.
Why didnât she know about this?
Mitchell said, âYes! And Belinda is the one to blame for that.â
A thoughtful silence followed, stretching just a second too long.
âMitchell,â Carola finally said, her voice carrying a note of caution, âdonât act rashly. Iâll look into this myself first.â With that, she ended the call.
At the Cardiac Surgery Department of the Grand Plains General Hospital, Belinda walked through the hospital corridors, her head held high despite the murmurings around her.
She wasnât one to care much about gossip, but this time, it was different. Even during patient rounds, she noticed the shift in their behavior. Family members no longer greeted her with their usual demeanor; instead, they all looked at her with fear in their eyes.
