Chapter 917
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âBelinda, where are you? What happened?â Lucas sounded anxious.
âIâm still at the Grand Plains General Hospital. Iâm fine, just ran into some deranged lunatic earlier,â Belinda replied. She added, âDonât worry about me.â
âStay where you are! Iâm coming over right now,â Lucas said. Before Belinda could say anything, Lucas had already hung up. Belinda sighed resignedly.
After a moment of thought, she started the car and drove back to the underground parking lot of the Grand Plains General Hospital, pulling into her usual spot to wait for Lucas.
She had a perfectly good reason for dragging that fanatic into her car and taking her out of the hospital to confront her. The thing was, she had gotten into a fight with Minna within the hospital last time and had ended up with a disciplinary warning. So this time, she made sure they were out of the hospitalâs premises before throwing any punches.
It didnât take long for Lucas to arrive.
He quickly parked his car and hurried over to Belinda, his pace urgent. Belinda got out of the car to meet him.
As Lucas drew closer, he took a better look at Belinda. His expression darkened. Belindaâs forehead was red and swollen, her hair was a mess, and there were telltale traces of egg yolk still stuck on her face.
âWho is responsible for this?â A sharp, threatening glimmer flickered in Lucasâ deep eyes. His voice was cold as he spoke.
âI have no idea,â Belinda replied, shaking her head slightly.
âAll I know is that the person is one of Mitchellâs fans.â
At the mere mention of âMitchell,â Lucasâs expression darkened even further, his eyes narrowing slightly as anger cast a shadow over his features.
Without uttering another word, Lucas took hold of Belindaâs hand and guided her swiftly toward his car.
Once they were inside, he pulled out tissues and wipes from the glove compartment, meticulously cleaning the remnants of egg stains from Belindaâs face and hair.
Belinda remained silent, allowing him to tidy her up.
Once he finished, Lucasâ voice dropped to a low murmur.
âIâll drive you home.â
âThereâs no need for that. I can go back on my ownâ¦â Belinda instinctively began to refuse, but before she could complete her sentence, she fell silent under Lucasâ intense gaze.
His striking face revealed little emotion, yet beneath that calm exterior, Belinda could sense the simmering anger.
With a slight sigh, she pressed her lips together for a moment before saying, âThen Iâll go retrieve my things from my car.â
âAlright,â Lucas said.
