Chapter 872
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda made a move to shift, but Lucas said, âDonât move. Iâm injured. If you move, you might hurt meâ¦â
Belinda froze, her body going still at his words.
âJust sleep,â Lucas said.
Since Belinda was facing away from Lucas, his feather-light kiss landed on the back of her head.
Belindaâs breath caught, her body tensing at the unexpected gesture. Yet, as moments passed, the tension and anxiety that had consumed her all evening gradually melted away. Wrapped in Lucasâ arms, she drifted off to sleep soon after.
Belinda woke with a start the next morning, glancing at the clock to find it was already eight in the morning. Panic shot through her as she remembered she still had her rounds to do.
She bolted upright, swung her legs off the bed, and rushed to the bathroom without so much as a glance in Lucasâ direction, avoiding his gaze.
When she emerged from the bathroom, dressed and ready, she said to Lucas, âIâm heading out for my rounds.â
Without waiting for a response, Belinda spun on her heel and left the room. Gordon was already there to take care of Lucas, so she wasnât worried about him.
As Lucas watched Belinda rush out, a faint smile played on his lips. Belinda, on the other hand, felt her cheeks heat up as embarrassment crept over her. What on earth had she been thinking last night? Sharing a bed with Lucasâ¦
Two hours later, when her rounds were done, she finally returned to Lucasâ ward. To her surprise, Catherine was there, seated near the bed.
âBelinda!â Catherine greeted her warmly.
âCatherine! When did you get here?â Belinda said with a smile.
âIâve been here for a while now,â Catherine replied. Then, with a mischievous glint in her eye, she added, âBelinda, you really need to be kinder to Lucas. He risked his life for you, after all.â
Before Belinda could formulate a response, Lucas interjected with a teasing chuckle, âDid you hear that? Even Catherine thinks you should treat me better.â
Belinda shot him a sharp glare.
Catherine let out a dramatic sigh, placing a hand on her heart for effect.
âHonestly, Belinda, Iâm so jealous that youâve got someone like Lucas willing to risk everything for you.â
Belindaâs gaze flickered. She turned to Catherine and said with a smirk, âWell, maybe Iâm just lucky.â
âYouâve got someone like that, too!â
Catherine was momentarily stunned, blinking as she tried to make sense of Belindaâs words.
