Chapter 866
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Without waiting for a reply, Darwin turned and walked away. As Lucas observed Darwinâs retreating figure fade into the distance, his eyes narrowed slightly in contemplation. He glanced back at Belinda and said, âBelinda, in the future, unless absolutely necessary, you really should steer clear of Darwinâ¦â He paused, searching her face for a sign of agreement. His voice dropped, and a hint of vulnerability crept into his tone.
âAlright?â
Belinda lifted her gaze to meet his earnest eyes. In the past, she would have confidently asserted her independence by saying, âThis is my business.â
But now⦠things were different. Lucas had taken the brunt of an attack meant for her. How could she dismiss his concerns so easily? And deep down, she knew Lucas was right. Minnaâs hatred for her had indeed stemmed from Darwin. In this complex situation, both she and Lucas were victims.
Belindaâs lips parted slightly as she said, âAlright.â
When Lucas heard Belindaâs reply, his eyes sparkled with delight instantly. She really listened to his advice now! For a brief moment, Lucas felt an unfamiliar warmth bloom in his chest.
Belinda, however, turned her head away, her cheeks coloring faintly as she avoided his gaze.
Later that afternoon, Harold arrived, flanked by Nigel, Devin, and Carmelita.

âItâs much better now,â Lucas replied with a polite nod, his tone calm yet appreciative.
âNigel,â Belinda said warmly as she rose gracefully from her seat to give up her chair for Nigel.
âPlease take a seat.â
âThank you,â Nigel responded with a nod before settling into the chair.
âMs. Wright, are you feeling alright?â Devin asked while looking intently at Belinda.
His tone was steady, but it carried undertones of worry and a hint of nervousness that made Belinda pause momentarily.
Belinda was surprised by Devin initiating an inquiry about her well-being.
After collecting herself, Belinda gave a faint nod of her head.
âIâm fine,â she said softly.
âDevin, thatâs an absurd question! When it happened, Lucas took the fatal blow for Belinda. So how could she be the one not fine? Itâs Lucas whoâs injured,â Carmelita interjected, her tone sharp.
Devin turned toward her, his expression hardening as he shot her a sharp glare.
Nigel stepped in, attempting to lighten the mood with a grin.
âHonestly, itâs all thanks to Lucas that Belinda is alright.â
He then turned to Lucas, his tone more serious.
