Chapter 858
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

For ten long seconds, she stared at the caller ID before swiping to answer the call.
âHello?â
âBelinda, why didnât you come home the night before last? Are you⦠Are you still upset with me?â Holleyâs hesitant voice came through the line.
Belinda believed Holley had no idea that Lucas had been hospitalized for saving her.
Belindaâs tone was cold.
âIâll come home today.â
Before Holley could respond, Belinda hung up the phone.
âWas that Holley?â Lucas asked, his gaze fixed on Belinda. He had overheard part of their conversation.
Belinda gave a slight nod.
âYes.â
âThen go back now,â Lucas said. He could tell that the unanswered questions were weighing on Belindaâs mind. She wouldnât find peace until she got the clarity she needed.
Belinda hesitated, her eyes lingering on Lucas.
âBut youââ
Lucas interjected, âGordon is here with me.â
âYes, Ms. Wright. Iâll take care of Mr. Clark. He will be fine; you donât need to worry,â Gordon said, his tone reassuring.
Belinda stayed quiet for a moment, clearly torn. After a while, she finally nodded.
âAlright, Iâll leave now.â
Lucas gave her a faint smile.
âGo ahead.â
Without another word, Belinda turned on her heel and left the ward.
At Vera Villas.
When Belinda arrived, she found Kenia and Sarai already there.
Holley, lounging on the sofa, immediately stood up when she spotted Belinda.
âBelindaâ¦â she began, her tone a mix of hesitation and hope as she moved toward her.
But her enthusiasm dimmed the moment she realized Belinda had come empty-handed.
She hesitated for a moment before saying, âBelinda, are you still mad at me? Look, I know I said some awful things last time, but I didnât mean it that way. I was just upset; thatâs all.â
Her words hinted at the argument they had had last timeâthe one involving Lucas.
Belinda stayed composed, her lips parting just enough to let her calm yet cutting voice slip through.
âThe reason I didnât come home the night before last is because I ran into Minna when I went out to buy you cakes, and she tried to kill me.â
