Chapter 851
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Bethany observed the tension on Belindaâs face before saying, âLetâs not jump to conclusions. First of all, this might have nothing to do with Kylee. And secondly, whoâs to say Kyleeâs call to Holley was even about this?â
She paused, letting the logic sink in, and then continued, âAnd another thing, considering Holleyâs relationship with Kylee, why would Holley conspire with an outsider to harm her own daughter? And does Kylee seem stupid to you? Of all people, why would she go to Belindaâs mother for help to harm Belinda? None of this adds up.â
Johnson opened his mouth to argue but stopped when Bethany shot him a pointed look. Following her gaze, he looked at Belinda and closed his mouth.
Just then, Vincent spoke up.
âLucas, you asked Gordon to investigate Kylee and Verena earlier. Are you suggesting they might be involved in this?â
Lucasâ lips pressed into a thin line. He raised his head. Instead of answering, he asked, âWhat do you think the person helping Minna is after? Whatâs their motive?â
The question made everyone pause, their expressions shifting.
Johnson quickly responded, âThe person might have a grudge against Belinda, or against you. By supporting Minna, they could be using her to target you two and gain something from it.â
Lucas nodded thoughtfully, his voice grave.

From this perspective, Verena and Kylee were highly suspicious.
An uneasy silence fell over the room.
After a while, Bethany walked over to Belinda, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
âDonât overthink this. I really donât think this has anything to do with Holley. Maybe Kyleeâs call to her was about something else entirely.â
Belinda kept her gaze lowered, her silence unbroken.
The group lingered for a bit longer before Johnson and the others decided to leave. After they had left, only Belinda and Lucas remained.
âBelinda, come sit over here,â Lucas suddenly said.
Belinda hesitated but eventually walked over to his bedside, her expression confused.
âWhat is it?â
Lucas slowly lifted his left hand, brushing it lightly against her hair.
Belinda froze, her eyes widening as she stared at him.
âIâm here for you,â Lucas said softly. His handsome face was pale now. Yet, his gaze was warm and gentle as it rested on her, offering a quiet reassurance.
He parted his dry lips slightly, his voice raspy.
