Chapter 84
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Before they could react, Harold asked, âIs there anything else you want to say to me?â His words suggested he was politely asking Baker and Kylee to leave.
Kylee, holding back tears, whispered to her father, âDad, we should leave now.â
Baker now realized that any further discussion with Harold would be pointless. He stood up reluctantly and said to Harold and Norma, âMr. and Mrs. Clark, we will leave now, but we wonât accept your money. Please keep the check.â
With those words, Baker and Kylee made their exit.
As they departed, Harold signaled to his butler. âHooper.â
Hooper quickly walked over. As Baker and Kylee reached the houseâs exit, Hooper intercepted them with a smile.
Hooper pressed the check into Bakerâs hand. âMr. Clark insists you accept this. He hopes it will close the chapter on this issue. Also, he mentioned that he doesnât want to hear about this from anyone else in the future.â
Hooper departed swiftly after delivering his message, not lingering for a response.
Bakerâs expression darkened as he examined the check, his anger brewing inside him. Was this simply a bribe to silence them?
At that moment, Kylee struggled to articulate her emotions. Recalling past visits to the Clark residence with Carola, she remembered Haroldâs demeanor toward herâreserved yet polite. She wondered when Haroldâs attitude had shifted so drastically against her. Confusion clouded her thoughts.
She later reasoned that Belinda must have said something bad about her to Harold! She had hoped earlier that Harold would disapprove of Belindaâs actions upon learning of the incident. Yet, to her astonishment, Harold had firmly defended Belinda.
Jealousy gnawed at Kylee. Why hadnât she been the one who had married Lucas?
Baker, visibly angry, muttered, âHaroldâs blatant favoritism is outrageous!â He reassured Kylee, saying, âDonât worry, Kylee. Iâll ensure you receive justice.â
Kylee, her lips trembling, gently shook her head. âDad, letâs drop the matter. Itâs not worth offending the Clark family over this. You heard what Mr. Clark said.â
Baker processed Kyleeâs words in silence, clearly weighing their options. Eventually, he let out a sigh and responded, âWe should head home now.â
âAlright,â Kylee replied.
At the Grand Plains General Hospital, within the Cardiac Surgery Department, the office door opened following a knock, and a security guard stepped inside.
Approaching Belinda purposefully, the security guard said, âDoctor, you have a visitor.â
âOkay, thank you,â Belinda replied, getting up to follow him.
When Belinda saw Holley outside, a crease formed between her eyebrows. She escorted Holley to a more private corner.
âWhy are you here to see me?â Belinda asked.
Holley exhaled deeply before replying, âBelinda, something seemed off about you yesterday. You and Kylee were always close. What happened to change that? Did she do something that made you angry?â
Belinda maintained a stoic face. âDo you really think I deliberately caused that incident with Kylee yesterday?â she asked calmly.
Holley bit her lip, her expression resigned. âI donât want to think so, Belinda, but we all saw it clearly.â
