Chapter 830
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âThatâs none of your concern.â
Without waiting for another word, Verena ended the call.
The plan had fallen apart completely, and Minna had been captured. For Verena, the situation was dire.
At the Grand Plains General Hospital, Lucas stirred, his eyelids fluttering as he slowly emerged from the fog of unconsciousness.
Belinda had been sitting by his bedside, her gaze fixed on him. The instant she saw his eyes crack open, her heart leaped.
âLucas, youâre awake!â Her voice quivered with barely contained excitement, the relief and joy spilling out.
âBelinda⦠How are you? Are you alright?â As soon as Lucas laid eyes on Belinda, his foremost concern was for her safety. His voice was hoarse, tinged with a trace of fragility.
When Belinda heard his words, a wave of emotions welled up in her chest.
She gently shook her head and replied softly, âIâm fine. I didnât incur any injuries.â
âThatâs a relief,â Lucas murmured, his tense shoulders relaxing ever so slightly. The furrow in his brow began to ease.
âYouâ¦â Belinda started, her voice faltering.
âIâm fine, too; donât worry about me,â Lucas said, his faint smile belying his exhaustion and frailty.
âStop speaking. You need to rest now.â Belinda instinctively softened her tone.
âOkay,â Lucas whispered, his strength waning. He closed his eyes once more and soon fell into a deep slumber after just a few exchanged words.
Belinda sat motionless, her gaze never leaving him. That night, she remained by his side.
She didnât so much as close her eyes until Lucas was finally stabilized and transferred to a regular ward. Only then did the tension in her body begin to dissolve.
The following morning, Harold and Norma arrived at the hospital early. The moment they stepped into the room and noticed the dark circles beneath Belindaâs eyes, Harold frowned, realizing Belinda hadnât slept all night.
âBelinda, Lucas has been moved out of the ICU now, and thereâs nothing serious to worry about anymore. Youâve been awake all night. Go home and get some proper rest. Weâll stay here with Lucas,â Harold said, his tone both firm and gentle.
Belinda shook her head.
âIâm not tired. Harold, Norma, since youâre here, please stay with Lucas. I need to return to my department to submit a leave request. After completing my rounds, Iâll come back.â
âAfter your rounds, go home and sleep first; you can return in the afternoon! Listen to me; otherwise, I wonât allow you into the room,â Harold declared, intentionally adopting a stern expression.
Norma also said, âExactly, Belinda. Go back and rest first. Come back after youâve had some sleep. Weâll be here with Lucas. Plus, if Lucas wakes up and sees you like this, heâll worry about you.â
