Chapter 819
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Verena finally heard Lucas speak, but his words pierced through her like a dagger.
Her body swayed unsteadily, and tears cascaded down her cheeks. She gazed at Lucas in anguish, her voice trembling with sobs.
âLucas, you⦠How can you be this heartless? Do you care nothing for our shared past?â
Her emotions began to spiral out of control as she struggled to maintain her composure.
âI realize now that giving you that substance was my fault; Iâve come to understand how wrong I was! Why canât you give me another chance? Just once will suffice! Punish me however you wish, but please donât disregard me!â
Her chest rose and fell rapidly with shallow breaths as panic enveloped her.
Before she could finish speaking, her eyes fluttered shut as she collapsed toward Lucas.
It appeared she was on the verge of falling into Lucasâ arms, but then, Lucas subtly shifted aside, causing Verena to tumble unceremoniously to the floor with a resounding thud.
âWhatâs happening here? Did she faint from being so emotional?â Bethany couldnât help but mock Verena.
âJust call her an ambulance,â Lucas said coldly before turning on his heel to leave.
âLetâs go.â
âAre we truly just going to leave her here like this?â Vincent asked, his brow furrowing in concern at the sight of Verena on the floor.
âOr what?â Lucas replied, his voice steady and unwavering as he turned to face Vincent.

Belinda, standing nearby, couldnât help but cast a glance at Lucas, her eyes reflecting mixed emotions.
Vincent let out a frustrated sigh, feeling the weight of the moment pressing down on him. After a brief pause to gather his thoughts, he said, âNever mind; you all proceed without me. Iâll take her to the hospital.â
âLetâs go then,â Lucas said to the others. Without a momentâs hesitation, he turned on his heel and strode out of the room.
Soon enough, the expansive private room was left with only Vincent and Verena, who remained on the floor, still feigning unconsciousness.
âTheyâve all left; you can cease pretending now,â Vincentâs low voice broke through the silence.
After a moment of hesitation, Verena finally opened her eyes, her complexion pale as she gradually pushed herself up from the floor.
âNow you see Lucasâ attitude toward you, right?â Vincent said in a calm tone.
Verenaâs eyes were red, and tears cascaded down her cheeks uncontrollably. The weight of Lucasâ cold attitude toward her felt like an unbearable burden she could no longer carry. He had seen her faint and done nothing!
All he suggested was calling for an ambulance before walking away without a second thought.
He really regarded her as nothing more than a stranger now.
