Chapter 800
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âYes,â Devin said without hesitation. âIâve always had feelings for Belinda. Iâve liked her from the very start.â
Nigelâs eyes widened in astonishment as he stared at Devin in disbelief. âWhat do you mean by always? When did you begin liking Belinda?â
Nigelâs expression shifted, his brows furrowing in thought.
When he had first told Devin that he would be meeting Belinda, Devin had agreed without hesitation. At the time, Nigel had suspected that Devin might have a soft spot for Belinda.
But hearing Devin openly say that he had been having feelings for Belinda still caught him off guard.
When had this started?
Devin smiled faintly, a trace of wistfulness in his eyes. âGrandpa, you donât need to dig too deep into that. The only thing that matters is that, for years, I had to keep my feelings buried because Belinda was married to Lucas. But now⦠Now that sheâs divorced, I donât have to hold back anymore.â
His tone grew resolute. âAs long as Belinda and Lucas donât get back together, I still have a chance.â
Nigel fell silent.
Devin, who rarely asked for anything, now had someone he truly cared about.
Nigelâs heart softened. How could he, as Devinâs grandfather, not support him?
Reaching out, Nigel clasped Devinâs shoulder with resolve. âAlright, Iâll help you with this.â
Devin smiled. âThank you, Grandpa.â
At the Clark familyâs residence, Lucas stepped into the living room to find Harold lounging on the couch, eyes fixed on the TV.
Harold didnât look up. âBack already?â
Lucas sank into the sofa beside him. âYeah.â
Without taking his gaze off the screen, Harold said, âYouâve got that look. Spill it.â
Lucas leaned back, expression neutral. âThereâs nothing to spill.â
Harold finally turned to Lucas, raising a skeptical brow. He had expected Lucas to complain about Belinda having dinner with the Davidson family.
Harold said, âNothing, huh? Then explain that mark on your neck.â
Lucas stayed unfazed. âItâs a bite mark.â
Harold froze, momentarily thrown. âFrom Belinda?â
Lucas nodded, as if it were the most ordinary thing. âWho else could it be from?â
Harold blinked, trying to piece it together. âWait, youâre saying Belinda bit you? What happened? Did you twoâ¦?â
Lucas explained, his tone even, âIt was an accident. Verena had me drugged.â
Haroldâs face darkened in an instant. âWhat?â
His fist came down hard on the coffee table. âThat woman! Using such disgusting tricksâwhat the hell was she thinking?â
But then, Haroldâs gaze softened as he looked at Lucas. âThank goodness it didnât work. How did you handle the matter afterward?â
Lucas replied, âI didnât make Verena face any consequences. But I made it clear thereâs nothing between me and her anymore. I blocked her on everything. I will never see her again.â
