Chapter 781
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

He had knocked for an extended period without receiving any answer. Could it beâ¦
The thought struck her like lightning coursing through her veins, and her demeanor immediately darkened.
Oddly enough, the possibility of Belinda sleeping with Lucas hadnât even crossed her mind.
The notion seemed implausible. When she and Belinda had returned to their rooms last night, Belinda had mentioned that she had consumed quite a bit of alcohol and intended to sleep inârequesting not to be disturbed for breakfast today.
âWhat woman?â Johnson inquired with a serious expression.
He couldnât help but feel a twinge of anxiety creeping into his heart; he hoped fervently that Lucas hadnât made any mistakes.
Vincent swallowed nervously before replying, âIf Iâm not mistaken⦠It was Belindaâs voice!â
âWhat?â Johnson was shocked.
âImpossible!â Bethany exclaimed in disbelief.
How could the woman possibly be Belinda?
Ryan, who had remained silent until now, absorbing the unfolding drama with keen interest, suddenly altered his expression as well. Vincent pressed his lips together for a moment and nodded firmly. âIâm quite certain I didnât mishear!â
Determined to get to the bottom of this, Bethany immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Belindaâs number. But it rang until the call automatically terminated without any response.
Unfazed by this setback, Bethany continued dialing Belinda.
Johnson also retrieved his phone and called Lucas.
MⱺÉÉ ÉÏÈ¡Ä Å£ÉÅ Ä©Å É¢Ä ÅÅøνÉÅÅ.çøɱ Lucas answered the call soon. âHello.â
Johnson moved the phone away from his ear and switched it to speaker mode so that everyone could hear Lucas.
âLucas! Iâm asking youâwho was the woman sleeping next to you earlier?â
After a momentary silence filled with tension, he asked cautiously, âIs it Belinda?â
As Johnsonâs words lingered in the air, everyone at the table, their eyes fixed on Johnsonâs phone, held their breath, anxiously awaiting Lucasâ reply.
A few seconds passed before Lucas said, âWho else could it be but Belinda?â
Johnson was left speechless.
âLucas!â Bethany immediately snapped. âWhat is going on here? Did you force Belinda?â
âWeâll talk later. Stop calling me; youâre disturbing Belinda.â With that, Lucas hung up the phone.
At this point, everyone was on edge, barely able to contain their curiosity. It was all they could do not to barge into Lucasâ room, drag him out, and demand some answers right then and there.
Meanwhile, Belinda was already awake. Her mind was still a little fuzzy when she opened her eyes, but her senses went on high alert when she saw the broad chest in front of her.
The events of last night replayed in her head like a recording. She bit her lower lip, shut her eyes tightly, and then opened them again.
âYouâre awake?â a low, husky voice whispered in her ear.
Belinda stiffened. Then, she abruptly shot up from the bed.
