Chapter 765
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

After a long while, Lucas finally picked up the call.
âHello, Lucas. Iâm downstairs at your company. Could you please let me come up?â Verena said as soon as the call was connected.
âIâm extremely busy,â Lucas said coldly, his voice devoid of warmth.
Upon hearing Lucasâ words, Verena bit her lip, a wave of anxiety washing over her. âI promise I wonât take up too much of your time. And, I have something significant to share with you,â she said, hoping to break through his icy demeanor.
âPerhaps another day. I will hang up now.â With that curt dismissal, Lucas abruptly disconnected the call, leaving no room for a response.
Verena stared blankly at the phone screen, her expression turning pale.
She had never envisioned that one day, Lucas would evade her to such an extent.
He had agreed to be friends with her.
But what was the reality now? Who would shun their friends in such a cold manner?
It appeared her strategy of being Lucasâ friend to get closer to him was failing miserably.
She needed to devise another plan nowâone that would capture his attention and reignite the connection they had once shared.
She couldnât permit Lucas to drift further away from her. Absolutely not!
At the Cardiac Surgery Department of the Grand Plains General Hospital, During the lunch break, Belinda excitedly dispatched a group call.
Shortly after, Bethany and Johnson both answered the call.
âWhatâs going on?â Johnson asked.
âI have two consecutive days off coming up. Are you both available? Should we go out and have some fun? Perhaps we could select a resort or something and just unwind,â Belinda said.
âCount me in!â Bethany concurred eagerly.
âI can join you, too,â Johnson said.
âDo you have any destinations in mind?â Belinda inquired.
Bethany quickly replied, âHow about we visit a hot spring? Iâve been longing to go to the resort with hot spring in Crystalhill for ages but never found the opportunity.â
Upon hearing this suggestion, Belinda fell silent for a moment, contemplating the idea.
âBelinda has a phobia of water,â Johnson said.
Bethany suddenly realized her oversight. âOh right! How could I forget that? Never mind; letâs consider another place.â
âLetâs go there,â Belinda suddenly said.
âBelinda, youâ¦â Bethany said with uncertainty.
âThe water in the hot spring isnât too deep. I will be perfectly fine,â Belinda assured her friends with unwavering confidence.
âAlright then, since you insist, shall we make arrangements for that location? How about we depart at nine tomorrow morning?â Bethany said.
âOkay!â Belinda replied.
