Chapter 759
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lucas briefly contemplated her words before responding with conviction, âIâve already dispatched personnel to closely monitor Kylee. If she exhibits any peculiar behavior, Iâll be alerted.â
Belinda nodded once more, though her frown deepened. After a momentâs contemplation, she said, âDo you think Minna might approach Macie?â
âShe wonât,â Lucas responded without hesitation, his tone firm. âIf she had merely fled, she might have sought refuge with Macie or Rhys. But after what she did to Moshe, the Burke family will stop at nothing to locate her.â
He paused for a moment before adding gravely, âThe Burke family members are aware of Minnaâs close bond with Macie; Minna wouldnât take the risk to see Macie. That said, Minna is unpredictable. She might act contrary to our expectations and secretly hide at Macieâs residenceâitâs not out of the question. Thus, Iâve also assigned personnel to keep tabs on Macie and Rhys.â
Belinda believed Lucas had a point.
Lucas had a serious expression as he leaned closer to Belinda. âExercise caution from now on and try not to go out alone.â
Belinda responded, âI will be cautious.â
She then gazed up at Lucas as she asked, âDid Minna endure much suffering while living with the Burke family?â
Otherwise, when Minna had escaped from the Burke family, she wouldnât have resorted to such brutal and violent methods against Moshe.
Her actions suggested she had endured unspeakable abuse to seek such extreme revenge.
Lucas didnât sugarcoat the truth and answered directly, âYes, Moshe tormented Minna almost every day. He even put a dog collar on her, keeping her locked away like some kind of animal. According to him, there wasnât a single part of Minnaâs body that escaped his cruelty.â

Lucas met her gaze steadily, his voice unwavering as he continued, âI had a hand in it, too. I asked Moshe to torment her. In addition to Mosheâs own enjoyment of torturous methods, I instructed him to double her suffering.â
He stopped to gauge her reaction. He wasnât sure if she would be angry with him because of this, but he had no intention of hiding the truth.
Belinda blinked, momentarily taken aback by Lucasâ confession.
But clarity dawned quickly; she knew he had done it all for her. Her voice steady, Belinda said, âI donât feel sorry for Minna. On the contrary, I believe she brought this upon herself.â
There was no sympathy in her tone. No matter how much Minna had suffered, she had only herself to blame.
Lucas allowed himself a small smile, relieved that Belinda didnât see him as heartless.
They then let the subject drop.
After the meal, Lucas drove Belinda back to the Grand Plains General Hospital.
The incident barely lingered in Belindaâs thoughts as she refocused on her work.
That afternoon, however, her phone rang unexpectedly. Darwinâs voice greeted her on the other end of the line.
âMs. Wright, are you free this evening? Letâs have dinner together. I want to give you something,â Darwin said.
âWhat is it?â Belinda asked, curiosity piqued.
