Chapter 750
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

If Baker was involved in the matter, it meant that Holley must have been aware of it.
The thought sent a chill down Belindaâs spine.
Was Holley really her mother? How could she have resorted to such tactics?
Had Holley orchestrated the accident, hoping to earn her forgiveness?
But the tactic made Belinda shudder.
When Holley had that car accident, Belinda had been consumed by guilt, wondering if it could have been prevented if they hadnât fought at that time.
But she had never imagined that it was all part of a cold, calculated plan, one created by her own family.
Belindaâs heart ached as the truth cut deep.
Seeing the pain in Belindaâs expression, Lucas felt his own heart tighten with sadness.
Concern softened his features as he stood and moved closer to Belinda.
Before Belinda could react, he had already pulled her into an embrace.
Belindaâs body tensed, her shoulders stiffening.
Without hesitation, she wriggled out of Lucasâ embrace, her movements sharp. She turned to face him, her gaze piercing, her voice cool. âLucas, did you forget what I told you before?â
Lucasâ lips curved into a faint smirk, his tone firm and commanding. âIâm making an exception today.â With that, he reached for her again, pulling her firmly back into his arms.
Belinda resisted at first, her hands pushing against his chest, but her struggle proved futile. After several unsuccessful attempts, she stopped resisting.
She had expected tears to fall from her eyes.
Yet, after what felt like an eternity, her eyes remained dry.
Perhaps, after the car accident, when Johnson had told her that it might have been Holley who orchestrated the entire thing, she had already started to suspect something.
She had clung to the hope that it wasnât true, that it couldnât be Holley.
But now⦠the weight of reality pressed down on her.
Holley wasnât the person she thought she knew.
Or maybe Holley had always been like this, and she had just been blind until now.
Time passed in a blur. It wasnât until Belinda became aware of Lucasâ steady warmth surrounding her that she realized she was still in his arms.
She quickly pushed him away.
Lucas instantly felt the emptiness in his arms.
He looked at her, his sharp features softening. His voice was quiet, almost tender. âIf youâre upset, donât keep it bottled up. Crying helps.â
Belinda answered calmly, âI donât want to cry.â
Lucas fell silent.
Silence stretched between them until Lucas finally spoke again, his voice low and rough. âBelinda, what do you plan to do about all this?â
After a momentâs thought, Belinda replied, âIâll wait and see. For now, Iâll act as if I donât know anything.â
