Chapter 721
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âCatherine, please, listen to meââ Lelandâs voice wavered as he reached for Catherineâs hand, trying to calm her. The moment his fingers brushed hers, Catherine jerked her hand away as if burned.
She turned to Johnson and said, âI will handle this from here. Iâll take them away with me now.â
Johnsonâs expression darkened. âWhatâs left to handle? Are you not breaking up with him after all this?â
Catherineâs tone remained calm, almost detached. âI know what Iâm doing, Johnson. Let me deal with it.â
Disappointment flickered across Johnsonâs face, his voice turning cold. âFine. Youâve grown up now, huh? Youâve made up your mind. I wonât interfere. Take them and go.â
He then turned his head away, refusing to meet Catherineâs eyes.
âThank you,â Catherine said softly. With a brief nod to Bethany and Vincent, she walked out, Leland and Hailee trailing behind her. The room fell into an uneasy silence after they left.
Johnson sat with his head lowered, his shoulders slumped. Bethany and Vincent exchanged a worried glance.
âJohnson,â Bethany asked hesitantly, âare you okay?â
A faint, bitter smile crossed Johnsonâs lips. âIâm fine.â
âWant to head to the Dream Club now?â Vincent said. âWeâll have a few drinks with you.â
âSure,â Johnson replied, standing up. âBut just so you know, Iâm not upset. I just feel like drinking.â
âGot it,â Vincent responded, shaking his head resignedly.
At the Dream Club, not long after Johnson, Bethany, and Vincent arrived, Belinda and Lucas came as well.
Belinda already knew what had happened in the private roomâBethany had filled her in over WhatsApp. Seeing Johnson drowning his sorrows, she said gently, âJohnson, donât overthink this. Catherineâs an adult now. She knows what sheâs doing. And with her personality? If Leland ever did anything to betray her, sheâd end things with him without a second thought.â
Bethany nodded in agreement. âYeah, theyâve been together for years. Relationships like that arenât easy to end on a whim.â
Lucas, who had been quietly listening, suddenly spoke. âHow about we get a few guys to corner that guy? Threaten him. Make him break up with Catherine.â
Belinda froze, staring at Lucas in disbelief.
Belinda whipped her head around, fixing Lucas with a sharp glare.
âWhat kind of ridiculous idea is that?â she said, rolling her eyes.
Lucas shrugged lightly, his tone calm and unbothered. âIf Johnsonâs so into Catherine, why not just let him pursue her?â
