Chapter 705
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Still, the image of them dining together stirred pangs of jealousy in him.
âIf thereâs nothing else, Iâll head back now,â Belinda said. She then turned to leave, signaling the end of the conversation.
But just as she took her first step, Lucas reached out and grasped her wrist once more. His voice, strained and raw, broke the silence. âBelinda, will you fall in love with someone else?â
His words carried an unmistakable fear and nervousness.
Belinda stopped and lowered her gaze. âNo one can make promises about the future,â she said.
With that, she gently pulled her wrist free from Lucasâs grip and walked away.
Lucas remained rooted in place, unable to move or speak for a long time. A wave of fear and anxiety crashed over him. The thought of Belinda loving someone else terrified him, and the possibility of losing her affection was unbearable. He doubted he could endure it if that day ever came.
In the end, Lucas had no memory of how he had driven back to his company.
Not long after he returned to his office, Gordon entered. In a somber tone, Lucas asked, âDid the restaurantâs surveillance footage show who took those photos?â
Gordon shook his head. âNo.â
Lucasâs brows furrowed into a deep scowl. âWhat do you mean, no?â
âThe surveillance footage was deleted,â Gordon explained. âOne of the security guards in the control room confessed that someone paid him two hundred thousand to delete all the footage from yesterday.â
Lucasâs eyes narrowed. Whoever took those photos must not want their identity to be exposed, hence the bribery.
âDid the guard describe this person?â Lucas asked, his voice dangerously low. âAny specific, defining details?â
âWell, the guard said the person was a man,â Gordon replied. âApparently, he had an intimidating appearance. Other than that, the guard couldnât provide any more useful information.â
âThat man must have been hired by someone, too,â Lucas said. âHave we found out where the photos originally came from?â
âWeâre still looking into it. The photos have been passed around so many times; itâs pretty tricky tracing the source,â Gordon said.
Lucas inhaled sharply. âHurry it up.â
âYes, Mr. Clark,â Gordon said with a nod.
In a private room at a coffee shop:
Darwin stared at Lucas across the table, unsure of exactly how he felt now. He never thought a day would come when he and Lucas would be sitting face to face like this.
âTo what do I owe this meeting, Mr. Clark?â Darwin spoke first, breaking the silence.
But of course, he already knew why Lucas wanted to meet with himâit had something to do with Belinda.
